posted a message on Minecraft Default texture pack download?
    Quote from Kaden_Schuelke

That's the most ridiculous crap I've ever heard. So are all texture packs illegal? Where do you think they start from?

Texture packs were made by graphic artists, whether they work for Mojang or whether they are freelancers doing it for recognition or for fun. The Mojang Terms of Service and EULA are probably the laxest I have ever seen, basically the one and only firm rule is to not distribute anything they made to anyone. (Especially not to whiny jerks who simply want to pirate their hard work instead of paying for it.)

Mojang freely allows anyone to modify their work, they say so more than once in the terms of service and eula, but first you have to get it legally to be able to modify it. You are asking people to violate the terms of service and eula to give you something that you have not paid for.

In fact Mojang is so nice about all of this that you can download the .jar file directly from them without even having an account. If you had bothered to spend a few minutes looking for it online instead of whining here you would have it already. :P

What is wrong with windows 8?

Nothing if you are using it on a touch screen tablet for email, web surfing and social media sites, it works great for that and is a lot smaller and faster than Windows 7.

EVERYTHING if you are using it on a gaming desktop.

Sounds like it could be an CPU/GPU overtemp shutdown, your laptop is possibly just trying to save itself.

Have you checked the fan(s) and is it free of dust/hair/fiber buildup inside?

posted a message on Help with ban
Uhh...I'm seeing a listing for a server and for several different servers but they all have completely different domain name addresses (IPs). It is apparently a pretty common name, could you post the domain name/IP that is used to connect so I can figure out which one is the correct one? (if you are going to try to appeal regardless of their message)

If they added "please do not appeal" to the ban message that means that whatever he did, innocently or not, was pretty egregious and really ticked them off. They don't want him to appeal because it would be a useless waste of both his and their time is what they are saying in a nutshell, they are not going to reverse the decision.

Be warned, and you should make this clear to your son, that there is now a site that shares ban information amongst many server owners who use the service. Getting banned for causes like griefing the server at one site can get you banned at all of them.

I suggest just moving on to a new server, after all there are thousands of them out there, but this time he needs to be a little more cautious about making sure he understands what the rules are.

Would you actually believe that they would add elmo -_-

I think these might be hints for changing how you make skins (texturing separate limbs) but im not really sure why grum is in all these screenshots...

Naw...look at his skin in the close-up I did above, it is the same old skin he has always used. A few people keep saying that Grum's skin is "less blocky" or some such nonsense and that he is hinting at a new skin texture system. Grum's skin has always had the "Elmo eyes" that stick up above the top of his head, so I have no idea what they are talking about.

It doesn't mean anything, it isn't a new mob, it isn't a new skin, it isn't anything but a prank, a joke, a whim indulged for the shear fun of it by Grum. ;)

You can post it in the mod list still (if you have permission from the authors of the mods to use their work), many of the threads there have multiple mods in one OP or have modpacks, like zombe's or risugami's etc, etc..

There is just no longer a separate section for the listing of modpacks or multiple dependent mods by the same author.

    posted a message on Enchanting
As I suggested in the other thread, ask one of the admins or ops on your server what enchantment plugin is being used on the server, what they are doing is impossible without a modification to the game code. Some plugin on the server allows you to combine all those enchantments on one item and also allows enchantments up to level x which you also asked about.

The problem is that there are many such server plugins and you are not telling us anything about the server itself to even try to guess which one is being used. If you knew the name of the plugin being used then it would be easy to look up how it works and what command or enchantment steps are required to make these items. Without the name you can't find out anything.

You said before that people were selling these items in shops for large amounts of in game money, my guess is that those people are probably donators to the server. The server owner has given them permissions that allow them to use certain /enchant commands that have been modified on that server by a plugin. That is often how something like that works anyway...

    Yes for mod packs
    good idea

They dropped the "content packs" section for a specific reason, people kept asking where the regular mods were.

When you open the mods forum page all you see is a list of sub-forums. People were too dumb to scroll down and see the mods list below all the sub-forums at the top of the page and kept whining that they could not find the mods. They removed the "content packs" sub-forum so that you could at least see the bottom of the sub-forum list when you first open the page.

Seriously, that is why they removed it...lol :D

posted a message on Java Runtime Environment 1.5.0? ...NEED HELP
That message is ancient, it was only meant as the absolute minimum to the run the machine in Java 5, it does not apply to any modern computer. You need to install either java 6 or java 7 which both have newer better versions of the JRE.

Java 7 is the current version and is the one most often updated so if it will run on your computer without errors then you should use it...download the JRE version here...
    http://www.oracle.co...oads/index.html

If Java 7 and your computer do not get along then you can use the latest update of the Java 6 JRE (Windows x86 Online for 32 bit or Windows x64 for 64 bit machines) which you can get here...

posted a message on Cannot install Minecraft
For now use the newest Java 6 release until you can get it sorted out, this is any one of several problems that some machines have with Java 7, It can be quite frustrating to figure out and correct since you get no crash report or error code. :(

Open your control panel and delete any java installations and then get Java6 update45 32bit or 64 bit here...
    http://www.oracle.co...ds-1902815.html

Either will run minecraft on your machine perfectly and has finally had the security issue patched so it is as secure as java 7 basically. At least you will be able to play while you are beating your head against the wall trying to figure out why your machine does not like java 7. ;)

If you need more help in getting your Java 7 issue figured out then please post in the unmodified client support forum where people trying to help with issues like yours would expect to find it...

posted a message on How do I make a portal to teleport players to a random location?
There is a newish plugin called "Random Teleport"...

Random Teleport is a simple, lightweight plugin that allows players to use a command, or button and sign to teleport them randomly to the wild based on the preferences in the config.yml!

In about 5 billion years the Sun will swell up into a red giant star so large that it almost reaches the current orbit of Earth. This will of course incinerate everything on the planet and turn it into a molten ball, minecraft is doomed! :(

There is no such function in the iGates plugin. iGates just does not have any coding for the type of operation you want it to perform, short answer: It does not do that.

(not without a lot of custom coding anyway)

Where is "Focus" at? and im windows 7 so i cant download tweak ui

Try updating your LWJGL files, they control how the game processes your graphics, sound and control inputs, minecraft still uses a very old version, 2.4.2. There is a thread here that includes an auto-installer and also manual installation instructions...

Hopefully that will fix your problem. :)
