Another thing - I have watched some of Docm's video tutorial but.. How can I get the villagers to the upper part? And do the Iron Golems keep spawning when I am away too? If so, won't it clog up the server really bad eventually?

As long as any player is close enough to the chunks it is on to keep them loaded the farm will keep running, on an SMP server you are going to need to automate it so that the golems fall on pressure plates and activate the crushers themselves (or use a cycle timer), then have the water push the iron into a hopper that feeds it into a chest (or multiple chests connected by hoppers). That way you wont ever have enough entities spawned at once to lag the server even if it is running all the time.

The default distance to unload chunks is 10 chunks away but the game doesn't count the chunk your in so it is really more like between 10 and 11 chunks distance. The thing will keep running unless there is no player within the range of between 160 and 176 blocks of it, so it will probably lag the server when your away if you don't automate the killing process.

Diamond spread is identical in all biomes and no you don't want to go down lower and battle with the lava, 11-12 is the best place to mine. Your just unusually unlucky, it does happen sometimes, I'll mine in one area and hit diamonds several times in an hour and then spend the next two digging non-stop and never find even one. They really are just scattered completely randomly so you never know where to look, all you can do is keep digging until your luck changes.

BTW, It is called Branch Mining, Strip Mining is when you strip away the surface of the world, like when you make a stone quarry.

I see! But now we are talking about moded minecraft, right? Not vanilla? I have never heard of an Iron golem spawner before, so I just tough he was thinking about an Iron Golem farm where you are using the villagers to produce golems for you.

Some servers with "economies" sell various kinds of spawners at the shops. Apparently from what he just posted he is buying a villager spawner so that he can build a proper iron golem farm though so it sounds like he is on the right track. :D

(You can also get all the different spawners by installing TooManyItems)

Put your crafting table in a mine? :P

Honestly I do not know what it is you want, all the tutorials, even those made by Mojang (which are way out of date) are done as videos and posted on youtube. The only other thing you could do is sit down and start reading the wiki articles about anything you want to specifically know about.

There are about ten thousand tutorial videos on Youtube alone, everything from surviving your first day, first night, first week, to building insanely complicated automated contraptions with redstone powered circuits for the experienced players.

Do you mean an Iron Golem farm? If so they are totally worth it :) I built one in my LP and it fills up really fast.

Check out Docm77`s tutorial on the Iron Golem farm on youtube!

    They certainly are worth it.
It maybe difficult, but once it's done, you get crap loads of iron and I mean like 9 stacks within 12 hours.

If you read his post you will see that he is talking about making one with a purchased mob spawner, not one using villagers to spawn them, so it will only spawn golems while he is within 16 blocks of it.

To the OP: Ehh...if you don't mind going afk for long periods so your character can just stand there while golems are spawned by the spawner you will get a fair bit of iron I guess. You would be better off building a semi-automated one using villagers to spawn golems like Docm77`s so you didn't have to be right next to it all the time for golems to spawn. Just close enough to keep the chunks it is on loaded, say about 140 blocks or so. His idea and others like it can now also be fully automated by adding repeating timers to the crushers and then collecting the iron into chests with hoppers.

If your doing it with a mob spawner your going to get sick of standing next to the thing pretty quickly, your probably better off just mining the iron, at least you wont be bored to death doing that.

Can you imaging a constant stream of Creeper's in a confined space though? No one has time for that!

Yeah, that would make cave spider spawners only the second most hated thing in the game pretty quickly.

I think a Creeper dungeon would blow it's self up pretty quickly...

Beat me to it, I was just thinking "well maybe, but it would have to be made of obsidian or something with the spawner recessed into the floor to protect it from most blast damage..."

That does sort of put a major kink in the idea doesn't it?

Another "minecraft is dying because of blablabla..." post, lemme tell you something, when enchanting came out people said it would break the game, it didn't. Same thing happened with potions. People like the OP will always overreact and create a post when something they don't like or feel is "un-minecraft" is added to the game, but the truth is nothing has broken the game so far (judging by its popularity) so I think before making a post like this you should wait till the supposed "game-breaking" feature is added until coming to such a drastic conclusion.

Well you certainly cannot deny that the introduction of cows totally broke the game, it has been totally unplayable ever since they were introduced. What did we need cows for anyway, we already had pigs didn't we? Stupid redundant cows with their chuffing noises and mooing, they completely ruined the entire atmosphere of the game!

posted a message on Has Minecraft become TOO easy?
Well the new "Regional Difficulty" thing that Dinnerbone is trying to get into the 1.6 update may change things somewhat in that it at least is actually supposed to scale with the difficulty setting for once.

Regional difficulty: The longer you spend in one area, the harder it gets - scales with difficulty - Items, enchants or AI improve with difficulty

If they do a good job with this it could be very interesting, I like the idea of mobs that get smarter and tougher around your base as long as it actually does scale based on the difficulty setting.

    Set graphics to fast
    Smooth lighting to off
Render distance to short or tiny
    Advanced OpenGl to off
    Vsync to on
    Particles to decreased or off
    3D Anaglyph to off

If the frame rate is still low install Optifine and you should see some improvement.

By the way, if your laptop can barely run the game how do you expect it to run the game and recording software at the same time?

Does it download and install the files if you disable your anti-virus? Please try that and tell us what happens.
(Just remember to turn it back on before going back out on the web)

If you have re-installed Java and created a rule for your firewall to allow inbound and outbound connections to javaw.exe thru it then the only thing left to check is whether your anti-virus is blocking it as a suspicious file and not notifying you of it.

posted a message on Forge Crash
You need to install Forge before installing anything else, including Optifine. Your crash is being caused by the way Forge overrides Optifines custom font classes.

Delete everything in your .minecraft folder except for...
    1. saves
    2. stats
    3. texturepacks
    4. servers
    5. lastlogin

Open Minecraft and let it download the new files to replace those you deleted, close Minecraft and then install Forge as per its instructions. Start Minecraft to allow Forge to run once before making any further modifications to your game.

Now you can install Optifine and any other mods that you want to according to their instructions.

    Good luck. :)

Wood, just like everyone else is probably going to say with the exception of the occasional dirt answer. I mean what else can you break without it taking forever when you have no tools yet?
