Also make sure the kill chamber where you let them build up is more than 9 blocks from the spawner. If its closer than that the spawner will slow way down or not spawn them at all.
This one is kinda important, the spawner has a 17x9x17 (x,y,z) area with the spawner at the center in which it counts the mobs around it, if you get to six mobs the spawner stops spawning more. So you have to get them at least 5 blocks vertically or 9 blocks horizontally away from the spawner as quickly as possible so that it will keep producing more mobs.

"sans-serif">Hi, as the title says I am trying to make a mob grinder/xp farm in my survival game. The problems I am having are the skeletons fight each other to death in mob elevator and they spawn so slow its painful… like 3 every so often. I’ve watched a YouTube on how to build one and every thing works for them but not for me.. here’s a link of the one I’m trying to follow (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8blg0dH-PE) any ideas? Any help would be much appreciated, cheers.
They can SEE you or this would not be happening, they are not supposed to be able to see you at all.

I don't have any screenshots because I need to know how to upload files.
You can't, you have to use a free image hosting service like imgur, photobucket, tinypic, imageshack, etc, etc...and then link to the image URL.
May 16, 2013ausador posted a message on What food would you like to be added to Minecraft?Posted in: DiscussionQuote from Frog81
...They already do. Wolves require meat. Sheep and cows require wheat. Pigs require carrots. Chickens require seed.
Well they do to breed or to heal them, but you don't have to give them anything to feed them which is what I think the poster was talking about. Cows and sheep should be able to get their own food by grazing but with pigs, chickens, dogs and cats I can kind of see his point.
The problem would of course be who would feed the wild animals? It would be a coding nightmare with pigs and chickens to determine if they were "confined" in a pen and needed manual feeding or were "free" and able to find their own food. Dogs and cats would be easy, once they were tamed you would have to feed them sometimes like you already have to do in some mods.

OT: HOW do you find that many diamonds? (Jealousy)
Branch mining for hours at level 11/12, it may be the most efficient way to mine in the game but it still takes a lot of time and digging to build up a lot of diamonds. (plus if you look at how beat up my armor is after this trip it is going to take another 5 diamonds or so just to repair it on the anvil )
I know I should probably just chuck them into lava but it seems like such a waste, I mean they are made out of GOLD! (Not Butter) There really ought to be a way to harvest them for their resources or something.
May 16, 2013So I had another pretty good resource collecting trip in the Nether and along with everything else I got another seven golden swords.Posted in: Discussion
I have already hung a dozen or so golden swords on my walls in item frames as part of my mob drop trophy collection. Adding more would just look unbalanced without more armor and other items up there with them. I have a bunch more taking up room in chests and since they don't stack they fill up chests kinda quick.
So has anybody out there ever figured out an actual use for the things besides just hanging them as decorations?
May 16, 2013In a hole I made in the side of a hill or a natural cave that I can block off part of or by making a hole in the ground if nothing else is available.Posted in: Survival Mode
I leave building any structures until I have looked around a bit more and selected a spot near resources to build and stay on for awhile.
May 16, 2013When using the snapshots Zombies will sometimes spawn in the Nether if a zombie pigman takes damage, either from the player or from the environment. A zombie pigman being shot by a ghast, taking fall damage or being struck by you has a chance to spawn normal Overworld zombies in the Nether.Posted in: Survival Mode
Yes zombies can and do wander thru unsecured portals at any time before you enter the Nether yourself, no one is disputing that, but that is not what is happening here. It is a snapshot bug related to the "more socialable zombies" feature where zombies may spawn more zombies as back-up when they take damage in the Overworld.

There are a couple of different mods now that let you add a cape, the problem is that only people using that exact same mod can see your cape, to everyone else they don't exist. Same thing with the cape you get for donating $10.00 or more to Optifine, only other players using Optifine can see them.
Only a cape gotten from Mojang for attending a Minecon convention is visible to all other players in the game.
May 16, 2013I can't even imagine a better way to make people quit the game from shear annoyance and drudgery, I have one build where I have used over 17,000 torches. Even just replacing them all once with a new "permanent" kind of torch would be a mind numbing task, not to mention having to backtrack through every cave and mine you have already explored.Posted in: Survival Mode
This is one kind of "realism" that is not needed or wanted in the game, what is the point of having torches burn out at all if your just going to replace them with another kind of torch that doesn't?

So recently, I tried making a fireplace in my wooden house, and nearly burned the whole house down. I kept revising and expanding the design, trying to make it safe, and I seem to have found one that works (after burning that part of my house multiple times) Could anyone who knows how fire spreads (I don't) look at the attached screenshot and tell me if this is safe, or if my house will burn down as soon as I turn my back. Texture pack is ravand's realistic 16x16 by the way.
Having returned home more than once to find part of the house missing (once because of a fireplace and once because of a lava "garbage disposal" in a wall) I learned that the Wiki has the reliable answer on this...
As far as time goes it is one of those "chance" things built into the game, it checks by rolling the dice so to speak at periodic intervals to see whether the fire will spread or not. At least that is what they say it does...personally I just think it waits to make sure your not home before starting the fire! j/k

I don't think the hunger bar goes down in easy . Try upping it to normal, it's not that big of a difference in difficulty.
The hunger bar does go down in easy but when it reaches zero it will only reduce your health to 5 hearts (half health) you can't die from hunger in easy like you can in normal or hard difficulty.
May 15, 2013It is a known and reported bug that seems to have a bit of variation as to when and how it happens.Posted in: Survival Mode
There are also two other threads here on the forum where people have reported finding a zombie in the Nether, most people seemed to just assume that they wandered in through the portal from the Overworld and dismissed the reporting members claim.
Hopefully with the multiple reports including photos to the Mojang Bug Tracker people will realize that they were wrong in that assumption and that this is a valid bug.
You should add your report to the tracker page too, if they have fixed the sign-up yet that is, the last almost two weeks or so it has been broken and wont let anyone new make an account.

Looks like Dokucraft to me. I thought Aether was discontinued like a while ago?
The Aether has not been updated since 1.7.3 beta but a brand new Aether II is in the works by a fan group and is in limited alpha testing [still a WIP] so it should be being released sometime in the next couple of months.
Maybe Doku light? The cobble and stone texture look kinda familiar...

Just curious, and I would prefer an answer from someone knowledgable if possible.
I know that Java had a major emergency a while back
and was wondering if it is safe now.
I miss minecraft and wish to play again, but do not wish to return if the risk has not been mended.
There was a security flaw in the older versions of Java that the hackers learned could be exploited, nothing major, it just allowed them to create pop-up redirect pages and that sort of nonsense. It was never a serious security issue that was any real threat but it got widely reported about and a bit over-hyped because of the fact that practically everybody uses Java.
The "Computer Security Gurus" were just telling people that they should not use any version of Java older than Java 7 update 10 to avoid this minor security exploit that had been discovered by "hackers" (mostly just adware exploiters). This is still true, if you are running anything newer than update 10 it is considered to be safe (well as safe as any other computer program that has not been hacked yet).
