posted a message on Help - How do you get the music discs from creepers?
They do blow up now, I just verified it by building two connected glass pens and putting a skeleton in one and a creeper in the other and then standing in front of it. The wall between the creeper and skeleton was missing the 2nd layer blocks and so was the exterior wall on the side I was standing on so that they could see me.

I got the skeleton to shoot the creeper once and then moved to the side where I could not be seen, I was nine blocks from the creeper and it still blew up going after the skeleton. :(

I imagine that it is probably necessary now to keep them further apart than one block between them, I'll try that one out later...

If you make the spawn floor out of half slabs then NO mobs can spawn there at all, besides you don't need to worry about bats, they have their own spawn cap. Bats have a spawn cap of 16 and hostile mobs have a spawn cap of 79, a few bats being inside the thing will not affect your spawn rate for hostile mobs.

People use half slabs on spawn floors to stop spiders from spawning inside since they do not work at all in the mob trap the way the other mobs do. Spiders need a 3x3 spot on the floor to spawn so if you put a half slab down every third block spiders cannot spawn.

whatever you do, do not make them this long^

Agreed, most people simply will not watch videos that long, better to break it up into more frequent shorter episodes than release one really long video occasionally. Especially if you are talking about someone new to your channel, if they are browsing the search or recommended list on Youtube and see a video that long they wont want to click on it without already knowing if your any good or not.

    Click start.

Type %appdata% in the search box.

Click on Roaming in the search window.

    Open your .minecraft folder.

    Delete everything except...
    1. saves folder
    2. stats folder
    3. texture packs folder
    4. servers file
    5. lastlogin file

Close the window and then log into your launcher, it will auto-download new game files to replace the ones you deleted but you will still have have your saved worlds, statistics, texture packs, and multiplayer server list. This usually corrects any loading problems with the game...

posted a message on Should Minecraft Realms Allow Plugins?
That would increase the complexity of the setup for the server hosting company quite a bit since you don't actually have control of or admin access to the server but rather can only access it thru a limited in game menu. The time for them to install custom software on thousands of individual rental servers and then wipe them and reload for the next renter would be considerable. Mojang would also have to come up with a completely new user control scheme than the one they have been working on so that the renter could have some control over the plugin functions.

This would all increase the rental fees for the servers too, since time spent by the hosting company on this would inflate their labor costs. If you wanted a customized server why wouldn't you just rent one from another company that you could have ftp and console access too? Minecraft realms is intended to be a cheap dependable service available from within the game and that takes no real computer knowledge or skill to use.

Think of it as similar to the 8 player multiplayer on Xbox where there are no mods or plugins either, they already said the servers would be "optimized" for 10 players. It is just meant as a way to play with friends or family, if someone wants something fancier then they should set it up themselves either at home or thru one of the numerous hosting companies that already exist.

Download a texture pack and drag the .exe file in.

Add the whole archive you downloaded to the texture pack folder, you don't have to open it or do anything with it, just put it in the texture pack folder and your done. Just thinking ThizBoss saying .exe would probably get you confused, I think he meant .rar file.

As he said different mods install differently and some also require you to have other mods installed first. Some mods just have files to add to your minecraft.jar, others have files for the .jar but also files for the mod folder and maybe a resource or other file as well. You have to follow the instructions for each individual mod, there are also many installation tutorial videos available on Youtube. Just make sure you are watching one that is not ancient history and obsolete but that was made for a recent version of the mod and the game.

BTW, to get to your .minecraft folder click on start, type %appdata% in search, click Roaming in search window, and then open your .minecraft folder. The minecraft.jar is in the bin folder and has to be opened with winrar or 7zip, do not add mod files to minecraft-1.5.2.jar, just plain old minecraft.jar. :)

posted a message on Mob Disguise
Mob disguise has only been updated to work with 1.8.1 beta, it does not work with any more recent versions of the game.
Mob disguise requires a compatible (old) version of craftbukkit to be installed on your server, you should have a plugin folder already, you should not need to make one.

Have you tried doing a clean re-install?

Delete everything n your .minecraft folder except for...
    1. saves folder
    2. stats folder
    3. texture packs folder
    4. servers file
    5. lastlogin file

When you login to the game it will auto-download replacements for the game files you deleted. Try that and see if it corrects the problem with clean files before adding any third party software to the game.

posted a message on Question about texture packs not working properly
    Quote from Bradflakes

I am also having his problem. I've downloaded the latest version of the HD texture pack I am using (John Smith), and used MC patcher and it still is a mix between Standard and my texture pack. Why isn't it working?

The John smith pack has never been 100% completed and still uses textures from Vattics faithful pack to fill in the gaps where they have not made new textures. Also on their page they note...

The download below is compatible with MC versions 1.3.x, 1.4.x, and the latest version 1.5, however please note that due to changes with how Minecraft handles texture packs in 1.5, there may be a few bugs with that version whilst we even things out.

    http://www.jslegacy.com/

Note that it has not been updated for any changes in 1.5.1 or 1.5.2 either and was already "buggy" in 1.5
