Ugh...what are we suppose to be talking about?

I have no idea, something about how to "be like Hypixel"

    To the OP:
First learn Java coding and how to modify the game engine.

Second become a redstone master guru.

There you go, that is how to be like Hypixel. ;)

posted a message on minecraftforge.net down?
minecraftforge.net has been completely down for almost an entire week now, you can still access some of the pages from there but those are cached versions from the cloud service server the site uses. The actual source server is down and will not respond at all to http queries, it has been like that since at least Tuesday. :(

You would think that after this much down time they would make some kind of announcement somewhere else (like here) to let people know what was going on, but so far I can't find anything.

posted a message on How do you protect villagers?
    Quote from dockerty

I tend to play on hard, so I need to protect the doors from zombies. I first run through all the houses and light them up so no mobs spawn inside them. Then when night falls, and the villagers have gone into the houses, I run around and put dirt blocks in front of each door. This way the zombies just stand outside, looking up at the villagers inside, and are easy targets for me or for the sun in the morning.

When I have fenced and lit the village area, and added enough doors (silo-method, if you know what I mean) to spawn an iron golem, then I can remove the dirt blocks from the doors. (Though the villagers with the best trades are usually secured into corners of the houses so I can find them easily.)

You can automate that with a daylight detector, a NOT gate and sticky pistons, I use a long chain of redstone relays (100) with the delay set to max to make a time delay. About one minute after the sun goes down all the stairs in my village raise up on pistons blocking access to the doors, about a minute after the sun rises (time enough for the zombies to burn) they all go down again. Simple and completely effective against zombie attacks.

    Quote from CNMustang

I know Santa isn't real (don't let little kids read this, it could anger there parents to have them crying about it though), just find someone who has PICTURE PROOF of slenderman. If you can't by, say, September, then I will say absolutely hoax. I am skeptical about this Slenderman thing ok.

Here you go, picture proof...proof that Slenderman exists as a minecraft mod...

As you can see a picture proves nothing about anything when it comes to an easily modded video game. ;)

Well truthfully Slenderman can exist in minecraft, but only if you add the mod for him...

    http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1342652-152smp-slender-man-v5-new-awesome-overhaul/

There is no such thing as a "virus" that could add the coding and textures to your minecraft game to produce Slenderman (or Herobrine either), the only way to get either one is to add them yourself by installing a mod for them.

I know what a texture pack is, but I want to know why they all are using that texture for their diamond armor and swords. Is it a copyright issue with YouTube or Minecraft or something?

Mojang was offered a share of the monetization of all minecraft videos by Youtube and turned it down, unlike Sony who demanded and got a share of all money generated by videos using their products. There is no "copyright" issue with using minecraft in videos, Mojang actually encourages people to do it.

So they shouldn't optimise their game just because someone else did first?

That is not what he said, he said they need to "fix their own problem" not that they shouldn't fix it.

Mojang is fixing it right now as we speak anyway, the code re-write from JRE5 to JRE6 and revision to include support for OpenGL 2.0 is meant to fix many of the problems that Optifine improves now by fixing the game code itself rather than by adding a patch to it.

I support name changing. Just have an unchangeable playerID that you ban, not a username.

That is what they are doing, they already said that they are going to a UUID system where every player has a unique ID number, the server ban lists will have that encoded number and not just the username of the player so changing your name will not let you get around being banned.

The texture pack you use determines how things look, you could have a diamond chestplate that was yellow, red, violet or orange or any other color you want if that is how the texture for it is made in the texture pack.

You don't even need to use a texture pack either, now that almost all of the items have separate .png textures images you can just replace any individual texture you want to in the texture folders in the minecraft.jar file. Quite a few people replace a texture here and there that they don't like with one they found in a pack texture pack (or created themselves) that they like better.

posted a message on Unlucky depth level 12 searches when looking 2x3.
Dig a 2x2 tunnel straight out for a bit and then dig 1x2 tunnels out from both sides of it every third block on both sides. Go out a set distance like 25 or 30 blocks (or however far you want) dig over three blocks and then dig back to the main tunnel. This exposes at least one face of ALL the blocks on your two levels (11/12) along with many of those on level 10 and 13.

Even doing this there is a certain amount of luck involved, you may find diamonds three times in 10 minutes of digging and then not find anything at all for the next hour or more. All you can do is try to expose as many block faces as you can with the least amount of digging possible and hope that fortune smiles on you.

Light everything up well so you don't get surprised by creepers or other nasties while your working, once you have mined an area out you can always reclaim your torches and wall that section off from the rest of the mine if you like to skimp on using resources. (and if you don't have a mob farm anywhere close)

There is no real trick to it (at least not in no cheat survival) you just have to do an awful lot of digging if you want to get a stockpile of diamonds.

posted a message on Help - How do you get the music discs from creepers?
I tested this repeatedly in my glass pen set-up mentioned above and the creeper will only explode if it can get to where there is only one block distance between it and the skeleton. Even two blocks on the ground separating the two prevents the creeper from exploding.

Just thought anyone designing a trap or attempting to include this in their mob farm would want to know.

The pen idea works well in the plains with each pen having two doors and a switch outside the far side door that closes both doors. Lead a skeleton into one side and trap it and then lead a creeper into the other and trap it. Then just stand around the front while the skeleton shoots the creeper to death, as long as there are two blocks between them and you don't get too close the creeper will not explode.

I tried this out in survival and got two music discs in about five minutes. :D

Dropbox works good for direct links, I imagine that you can still use adf.ly to shorten (redirect) a dropbox link just like is done with the mediafire links. I don't know for sure because I have never tried it but I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't work the same way.

posted a message on Anyway to fill up a map?
You could teleport, depending on render distance setting you could make jumps of like 256 to 320 blocks then wait there just long enough for the chunks to load the map then jump again. Move down one axis (like x) and then when you reach the end of the map jump the same distance towards the other axis (z) and then head back the other way up the first (x) axis.

It would probably be a little faster than flying unless you have something like zombe's fly mod installed and can change the config. speed to 10x sprint speed, but then your moving faster than most computers can load the chunks so you still end up lagging pretty badly as you progress.

If you cannot log into the launcher or into the minecraft.net site and you no longer have access to the email account under which the account was made then you may be out of luck. If you have your username and password correct then you could contact Mojang support and try to get it fixed if it is just some error on their end. If anything else is happening like someone cracked the account and changed the password/email then you have no way to prove ownership of the account so I don't know how helpful they will be able to be.

Still it doesn't hurt to try...

(and this is why everyone needs to migrate their accounts to the more secure and recoverable Mojang.com accounts)

posted a message on Is there a problem with mojang accounts?
No I mean where you set your security settings for browsing, it has been so long since I used IE I don't even remember, they had like three different pre-set levels plus custom settings or something like that. Anyway for the Mojang site to remember you your browser has to accept the "cookie" from there and store it.
