You awaken on a deserted island. All that you can see is a long, stretching minecart ride, that goes far off into the distance. Seeing no other options, you reluctantly hop into the minecart and begin your journey...
Just kidding. This rollercoaster has no coherent story, just a series of bizarrely themed areas loosely strung together. Here are some pics.
The starting area.
The excavation zone.
The underground shrine.
So, yeah. Since it's not finished yet, if everything is well-received, I'll turn this into a "pass-it-on" style project, like I've always wanted to. Don't forget to comment!

Those inventory editor programs became popular with the cheaters of minecraft.
Cheaters? Are you implying that there is a correct way to play minecraft? Just have a look at some of the forum subtopics. You can survive (Survival), you can build,(Creative), you can create computers and the like (Redstone), you can make and share custom maps (Maps). Just because someone isn't playing the game the way you want them to or think they should play, that doesn't automatically brand them as a "cheater".
Most (like me) just want to stay with the ability to survive, craft, and build.
You mean most of you who lord over the masses for joining during Alpha/early Beta? Who look down upon those who purchased their accounts any time after Beta 1.3? Who feel as though the game and its developers are theirs to command?
I don't like _jeb's Idea of being able to make mods.
Mods were able to be created since the early days of beta. The introduction of the mod API just makes it easier. And why would you be opposed to the idea of people modifying the game to suit themselves? It's not like anyone is forcing you to download anyone's mods.
My point is, you need to stop believing that everyone has exactly the same playstyle as you. Hate mods? Don't download them. Hate the updates?Use MCNostalgia. Hate Minecraft? Then don't post on the damn forums.

Aug 2, 2012I am hosting a LAN server. People can see the world on the server list, but whenever they click it, it displays "connecting to server" for about a minute, then "connnection has timed out". I have allowed minecraft to access my firewall, my comp is running windows 7 and the other is running OSX Snow Leopard. Is there any solution to this? Is anyone else having the same problem?Posted in: Legacy Support

Aug 25, 2012EDIT: After two years, this thread is no longer an entirely accurate reflection of the current state of Minecraft. The basic problem I describe here, however, still very much persists. For more current and relevant discussion of this issue, you can skip directly to page 18.Posted in: Suggestions
The basic ideas of this thread are as follows:
- Leather armor is not easy enough to acquire to balance out it's inferior statistics. Leather itself should be a commonplace early-game resource.
- Cows are unbalanced, in that they make pigs redundant and irrelevant by producing the same amount of identical food that pigs do in addition to other items that they don't.
- Both of these problems can be solved by a simple tweak to the cow's item drop rates.
I don't know about all of you, but I've never used leather armor. I always found it to be easier to go right to iron armor; taking the time to pen in cows and breed them for leather would set me back quite a bit in game progression, and you rarely find nearby the 12-24 cows necessary to craft a full set of leather armor early enough in the game for it to be relevant for you to do so. I could better spend that time setting up a mining operation.
In relatively short order you can have enough iron for not only armor, but other essential items as well. Going directly for iron armor serves multiple goals simultaneously, whereas obtaining enough leather for armor is a task you have to go out of your way to accomplish and serves only that single goal to the exclusion of all others. Therefore, skipping over leather and going immediately for iron instead is the more efficient path to take, and the one most players will be most likely to follow. I have seen this first-hand in at least 90% of cases on all servers I've played on. This clearly doesn't make sense, as it puts the lowest tier armor in an unfortunate crossroads of being simultaneously less effective and more time-consuming to acquire.
Clearly, leather armor needs to be easier to obtain in order to balance it out and make it worthwhile for the player to spend time in the early game on it. So here is what I propose: make cows drop more leather, and less steak. When you think about it, cows and pigs are currently equal in terms of food value, but cows have an additional leather drop and are capable of producing milk. This makes them the clear choice for breeding, and makes pigs redundant and irrelevant. Why breed pigs when you can breed cows for the same resource cost and get much more payback for your efforts?
If, however, cows dropped primarily leather and only dropped a small amount of steak, it would give each animal clearly-defined roles and make both important to breed. And it would make the acquisition of leather for armor easier and give leather armor back it's rightful place as the cheap and commonplace first armor set players make.
Current Drop Rate:
0-2 leather and 1-3 steak
Even with the most improbable good fortune, under these rates you will need to kill a minimum of 12 cows to obtain a full set of leather armor, and potentially as many as 24 if you get only the minimum amount of leather from each cow you kill. But cows are capable of dropping no leather at all, which means that you might even need to kill more than 24 cows to obtain the leather needed for a full set of armor, with no theoretical maximum. This is absolutely ridiculous.
Conservative Suggested Rate:
2-4 leather and 0-1 steak
Under this rate, you would need to kill a minimum of 6 cows to craft a full set of leather armor, and as many as 12 maximum. These numbers are improved, but not quite as much as I would hope.
My Ideal Suggested Rate:
3-5 leather and either remove steak, or alter it or porkchops
With this rate the number of cows killed is now as low as 5 and as high as 8. This seems much more reasonable to me, as leather armor is primarily only relevant for a fairly small window of time in the early game, so you should obtain it as soon as possible. Either the steaks or the porkchops would be altered in terms of hunger value or saturation to make them no longer redundant and give each it's own place and use.
Pig item drop rates would remain unchanged in all scenarios.
An idea from a thread contributor that I very much support:
Quote from PatDay
4) Give leather new benefits - Make leather mechanically desirable Certainly not as much as diamond, but something people would consider using. I think the best option might be to include special non-combat enchantments only leather can get such as a Speed boost or Sneaking option (players are invisible to mobs past a certain distance while crouching). It would give people a reason to make a "work" outfit out of leather. This would seem to be only a benefit in my opinion and can't think of any drawbacks.

Oct 30, 2012Tizorna posted a message on Rotator Block!(Rotating blocks, rails ,redstone items and over Ton More Uses!)(Has lots of Pictures)*150+ Supporters!*-Control ThRotatorPosted in: Suggestions
This special device made with Red stone , Cobble ,Iron ,Wood and a Slimeball.
Version 1 of the Rotator
*Right Click Rotator*
Animated 3d Gif.
Here is the Block map i created and used for this model
How to Use:
If placed on floor the Job of this item is to rotate the one item above it 90 degrees clockwise Instantly each pulse of power, Right clicking the Side of it makes it set for counter-clockwise or vice versa.
If placed on the ceiling the Rotator is turned upside down and rotates the block below it 90 degrees clockwise Instantly each pulse of power and By Right clicking it the Side of it makes it set for counter-clockwise or vice versa.
To Place block on the Rotator Just Hold Shift while placing.
If Breakable items like tourches and signs are placed on top of rotator or a rotated block they will not brake or pop off from the rotation.
When the Rotations are Changed the Arrows on the side turns to the Correct direction needed.
When Right Clicked The Rotator will make a Click Noise and When Power is applied it will Make
a quick Buzz noise. To not be confused with the sound of Pistons.
And if power stays ON the Rotator it still only Rotate 90 degrees once, Similar to how Dispensers Work
sence update 13w04a came out Despensers and Droppers can now be faces up and down, I think rotators Could maybe work on there sides to add a way to turn these devices clockwise or counter-clockwise much like clocks.
only suggesting this cuase i seen new update and i think Rotators could help make
survival mode and Adventure map creation alot more Wide Range.
Version 2 of the Rotator
animated gif showing all sides of the rotator version 2
this is the Blocks Map i used for the model. below
Version 2 Info: Version 2 Works about the same way as the version 1 Rotator and has same recipe but instead of a right click to change direction of the rotating instead block rotates based on the side where you apply power.
Added (3/20/2013): If Rotators are added This Would be a Good Way to Add More Face Blocks and Maybe some With useful Functions as well.
Director Block Name not fully set only temporary
New redstone Block to add Director Block Its made to go hand in hand with the Rotator The ideas are related so does not count as wish list
ike seen below animated gif.
Director block does not produce signal in any dirction besides the one block space in front of it. like seen below not animated.
this block used with rotators would be used for Extremly advanced curcuitry.
if used you can create more advanced compact clocks, timers, decoders ,turrets, Rs Nor-Latches and lots more.
this block can be used with Pistons as well.
recipe for this block is simple.
Suggested names for Director: Redstone Director. only one suggested at the moment.
uses 7 Solid Stone and 1 Redstone Torch.
List of items and that can be rotated.
2.normal Rail tracks
8.Any stairs cases
10.Jack o&#39; lanterns
Blocks hope to Work with Rotors :
1.If this is use in Mine Cart systems that have many X Crossing points using Detector Rails
the track can be spun 90 degrees allowing the Minecraft to go a specific Path. Good for mining and Minecraft Puzzles.
2. If used Upside down with Dispensers you can make Automatic Turn Turret. This is Usefull for Adventure Maps and House hold Defense.
3.if used With Repeaters this can make 2-4 way circuitry much easier.
4.If used with the 13w01a Redstone Comparator this can be used to make Extremly Complcated Circuitry.
5 If Used with 13w01a Hopper thats placed with the Out funnel to the side you can make one hopper do the job of 2 Hoppers. Like for a Cart Line filling 2 Carts on 2 Tracks or Fill to separate Chests.
Havent Thought of more useful Functions. If you like you can suggest more.
1.if Used With Pumpkins/ Jack o Lanterns this would be Good for a front Yard or in a Haunted house?
Havent Thought of more Decorative Functions. If you like you can suggest more.

EDIT: YAY 500th POST!!!
Jan 7, 2013I was bored, today, so I decided to make a house. Not a little, cubic house that you can see very often in SMP servers . A huge, MASSIVE mansion with every room a house should have. So for the last 3-4 hours (9-12 MC days), I have been building, block by block, a big lodge. And while it might not be as big as I planned, it's still the biggest thing I've achieved yet.Posted in: Screenshots
As you can see, I used pine logs for the frame and pine planks (stairs) for the roof (I love this kind of wood ). I also used cyan wool to put under the windows (it was initially also pine planks, but it felt a bit overused).
So, what do you say? Let's visit this lodge!
First of all, here is the front entrance:
A little staircase lead to the main entrance. Apart from that, nothing, really.
Come on in! Don't be shy!
Before going further, make sure that you sweep your feet on the blue rug.
Done? Okay, let's get in the living room, then!
Nothing beats a fire by a cold night, don't you agree?
Here, we got a lit (safe) fireplace, a couch, some books, a jukebox, a hatstand and some paintings. But no TV set.
Downstairs, we got the dining room.
"But where's the table" I hear you say.
Wait a sec, I'll do some magic *pulls lever*
Isn't it wonderful what we can do with a bit of redstone magic?
Anyways, moving on, we have a little walkway leading to the kitchen.
And then, the kitchen, which also serves as a crafting room.
Equipped with brewing stands, ovens, (empty) sinks, crafting tables, chests for storage, and best of all...
Downstairs, again, there's a little barren room, apart from a painting and the back door.
But there's also a second door, leading to the bathroom (in this case, literally a "bath room").
Some light blue towels are on the sides.
So, anyways, let's go back to the living room, and let's go upstairs.
Here's the second floor. Pretty barren at the moment.
If we go through the left door, we enter the "master bedroom".
Quite small; Didn't have enough space.
Through the middle door we got the W.C.
Pretty small too.
Finally, in the right door, we have a little guest room, which also lead to the attic.
Let's climb up to the attic, now.
Mind the dust...
I use the attic as a storage room. That's why it's full of chests!
Now, let's get back to the second floor and use the door upstairs. We then get to the patio.
Oh, it seems like we came here just in time for sunrise!
Well, that's all for the tour. I hope you enjoyed it! If you have any comments, critics or suggestions to tell me, feel free to make a post in this topic. Goodbye!
