diamonds do seem to be more rare than 1.8 but I pretty much only branch mine and im getting them.. my problem is that I have never seen so much lava while doing so....
I made the seed and went there... that is absolutely insane... all it is is a portal room... I mean you can see the sand and water through every window...
You shouldn't have to remake your world from 1.95, unless you had issues with the nether not being viable.. which I have found to happen on many occasions... supposedly there are ways to remake the nether but I do not know how myself. By viable I mean no fortress that you can find or a fortress without nether wart. My current world the nether didn't have nether wart in 2 fortresses so I gifted myself as much as what would have been there and went from there =D
they drop slime balls, though and you need those for magma cream and sticky pistons, magma cream is especially useful because you can make fire immunity potions which i always have in my inventory because i have a tendency to fall in lava
they also spawn in any light... therefore if they can spawn where your house is they WILL spawn when you try to sleep.. that means no sleeping.. ever
Currently I enchant gold for some things because gold gets better enchants by several levels.
It's decent for shovels, because of silk touch (gold tools ideal is level 12 for silk touch, where as ideal for iron/diamond is level 20 for silk touch), and because when I'm getting sand I like to get it quick, and gold shovels with efficiency laser through sand. And without speed making a sand quarry is boring.
Personally I don't like gold for picks, because it just doesn't work on the things I mine in my branchmines. Unless I'm just trying to make a silk touch pick for mining ice.
>.< an iron shovel on sand is already laser fast and why do you need silk touch on a shovel?!?!?
I had this happen, except the second one was supposed to have netherworts but a lavafall fell directly down the staircase into BOTH sides and of course... no netherworts :sad.gif: I actually just gave myself some because... that was ridiculous at that point =P
@tostreim you are lucky then as about 1/3 of the ones I have explored haven't had the room for them, one had 2 though
I think it's great. Now it's easier to get slime balls for pistons and magma cream!
it wasn't hard before...
anyways I found someone who actually found the spawn limit in the source, so damn close to being verified! I am glad it wont affect me but I feel bad for all those on PVP servers and the dwarves in Minecraft who like to live underground.
1. All you people claiming you've never had trouble finding slimes are either extremely lucky or lying.
2. This change isn't about difficulty. It's about fixing something that was broken. Slimes were too hard to find and too rare for a mob that is not special in any way and in fact needed to make things like pistons.
3. Don't like the changes? Too bad!
Scrubking still the idiot! Slimes weren't broken before. Just annoying to farm but not broken! This change has created more issues than fixes.
To those that think they aren't hard mobs... try fighting 3 big slimes at once when you have no where to go but lava... and the issue was never that they would spawn and hop around your base.. it was that they prevent you from SLEEPING! Or do you not know how beds work in this game?
I'm not asking for the devs to ask my opinion. I want a workaround.
"hunger, damages, armor"
Hunger was added when food was available.
Damage changes were made when enchanting became available.
Armor changes were made when armor could be repaired.
All these changes were made, and there was a way around it.
There's not a single way to prevent slimes from infesting underground homes now. If you're out of slimeballs, you can go to the bottom 16 layers. I'm in agreement that slimes should spawn in 100% of chunks, not just 10%. If there's no in game way to check if slimes spawn in a chunk or not, there needs to be a way. Mods gave it before, but they shouldn't be necessary.
But providing a half-hearted "fix" by wrecking all underground homes, farms, and structures, with no way to prevent mobs from magically appearing inside a lighted home is simply ridiculous.
Bottom 16 layers, ALL chunks, problem fixed. Slimes will be plentiful, underground houses safe. Why is this so hard to comprehend?
quoted for truth! For all those saying the Y limit is 40... NO ONE HAS PROVEN THIS... no one has stepped up and said "I am the one that can read the source! I found this!" Until that happens and we have some proof we have right to be concerned... but regardless lvl 40 is MUCH too high... examples... ok the guys on pvp servers with homes in the ground for safety... NOT SAFE! That cool dragon canyon video... guess what.. NOT SAFE! If the limit is 64 ANY house that happens to straddle a slime chunk... NOT SAFE. Those of you who think sleeping in a bed will save you.. no that's when they spawn.. so guess what you are on an SMP server and everyone agrees to sleep... but 1 persons house straddles that slime chunk.. NO SLEEP FOR YOU! and whoever said your house had to be 50x50 to be unsafe needs to learn math. If your house is 12x30 and you are at one end... slimes can spawn at the other end >.<
bottom line we need someone who can read the source code to figure out the actual spawn limits for slimes but what we really need is for it to be lowered a lot.. I don't care is its to say.. 25 but the best idea is 0-16 on ALL CHUNKS!
