I personally find wolves annoying, not only do they bump you around, but they get in your way while youre trying to do something...plus they keep wanting to run into my cactus farm.

Can I get a little less stupid out of these animals? I thought wolves were smart?

I can barely move. I got so sick of this that I took up the project of making every single one sit. My army is now sitting down, scattered across the server. Plus, I get about 5 whines/barks a second. My ears hurt.

I can barely move around my base with 3 of them. I keep accidentally hurting them whenever I go to open a door...

Anyways, you could go fight a bunch of :SSSS: :SSSS: :Skeleton: :Skeleton: :Spider: :Spider: :Zombie: :Zombie: 's until they all die.

    sadfaic.

I wonder if that's why people don't let their pets near the toilet... anyways, make sure to get yourself an automatic door or something in there to keep the wolves out.

posted a message on Should Notch Convert Minecraft to another Coding Language?
    Quote from WolfKit »
Honestly, I don't really care what notch does, but I want to get a higher frame rate with the next update. To all of you with gaming pcs, NEWSFLASH: NOT EVERYONE CAN AFFORD A GAMING PC! I'm running minecraft on my laptop. My laptop is less than a year old. In order to get a playable framerate (assuming that you have an unplayable framerate when a creeper can cross an entire chunk in between frames) I need to play with fast graphics, smooth lighting off, and render at short, as well as setting Java's priority to high. Now then, with render at short or tiny YOU CANNOT SEE THE SUN OR THE MOON. Before you say "craft a clock" consider that it can take a long time to find gold and redstone. Another note here is that task manager is extremely stupid. Every time I close and reopen minecraft, I have to set Java's priority to high again.

We have a few possibilities here.
      A) I (and undoubtedly others) continue as I am doing. It slowly gets more and more aggravating to die because without warning it is night and I am in the middle of nowhere with out adequate protection. Having to constantly deal with task manager.
:cool.gif: I try setting Java's priority to realtime. I hope to god that my laptop doesn't melt, and that maybe I can get the render distance to normal. Still have to deal with task manager.
      C) I buy a new gaming laptop. I am now broke, and maybe I will be able to sell my laptop on ebay for a tenth of what it cost.
      D) Notch spends some of his time working on making minecraft run faster.
      E) Notch pays someone else to make minecraft run faster.

Now then, If you were in my shoes, what would you prefer? Something from the first three, or the last two?

I'll go with last two. I have to do all the things you have to do... it's ridiculous. Then again, playing with fog can get you in some really intense survival situations(assuming the sun goes down when you are far away from your base)... which some people enjoy.

Eh. I'm not that sad I was exaggerating it but I will build a gravestone.

Well, if you ever find yourself grieving again, there is this wonderful society of :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS: 's that can make your death quick. I'm sure you'll see Fluffy in minecraft heaven(the aether, if I'm correct... then again, that's not implemented. scratch that, just continue on in depression.)

I was playing on an smp server, with one wolf, when I came across a pack of 5 wolves. Joyfully, I fed them all bones and tamed them. I then had a posse of 6 wolves.
However, I walked into the city, and I immediately started hearing a lot of wolf sounds. I turned around, and saw

An entire army of tamed wolves.
They were all "my" wolves, and each one of them followed me everywhere and constantly made noises. :Zombie:

I relogged several times, and yet all of the wolves are still there. Here are some screenshots of my personal army.

I am tempted to kill everything on sight now. :iapprove:

Whatever you do, don't kill :iapprove: or the game won't be finished. But yeah, that's awesome. You should make yourself a fortress... or take over an entire civilization. Or, if you want to die Sparta style, put yourself against a much, much larger army. I'm thinking creepers should do the trick.

OOOOOH!!! Make yourself a mob spawner and have an iron door blocking the channel... then press a switch to fight mobs whenever you want.(You know, so the door opens)

You could also make a maze for mobs. So you can sit atop a floating platform and watch them get lost.

Last suggestion... make yourself a FREAKING HUGE TOMB. you know, ancient egyptian style. Then, make a room full of treasures. Make sure to implement a bunch of anti-thief measures.

I hope they make the wolves just a BIT more intelligent... so... you know... they won't jump into lava, get stuck, kill themselves on cacti, etc.

And that whole thing about them teleporting? I heard they could get stuck in sand. Boo.

posted a message on Tree Climbing Creepers?!?!?!?!?!?!?
    Quote from mrbaggins »
They can spawn on any non-transparent or partial block. Including leaves on fast graphics.

Also, next time, read the wiki.

I did read the wiki. I guess when I read this on their first night survival guide, I assumed in meant I was safe.

Or you could find a large tree. Pillar up to the top and stay there. Mobs will not spot you if it is a large enough tree and if they do, just move to the other side of the tree. Spiders could give you a problem, but hopefully, they won't see you. A word of advice if you do this, trees contain wood. Use it to your advantage.

Now I realize how that works now, since they don't spawn within 24 blocks. Sorry. I'll just go retreat to my noob hole now.

    The conspiracy still lives on.

Haha, that sucks. Is your roof well lit? you might want to do that. Or make it out of glass. Whichever suits your design better. Anyone know if mobs can actually spawn on trees? I know mushrooms can... but... seriously... this is weird.

    3. Find a seed that has a high wolf spawn rate. Here are some that have that. (Make sure you don't use the quotes!) :

    "1"

    "float"

    "Chimoochm" (Credits DogMakina)

    "Wolfies" (Credits limitless285)

    "Wolf" (Credits richnick82)

    "glacier" (Credits Mr. Cactus)

Not to burst your bubble or anything... but on http://mojang.com/2011/02/23/a-short-demystification-of-the-map-seed/ it says:

The map seed is only used by the world generator, and not for other stuff (such as spawn location, how many items mobs drop etc).

Once again, sorry. But wolves have an equal chance of spawning on any map... although if the seed tends to start in a taiga or forest, you won't have to travel very far to find them.

I'm not sure if this is supposed to be happening... but the creepers seem to have gained some skill in tree climbing. I heard them plotting something from behind a wall... I think they are going to build a giant siege tower right next to my base. I think they are going to chop down the tree, and start crafting some stuff for the tower...(yes, I know they don't have hands... but they did climb the tree. Perhaps the hands are invisible.)

(In all seriousness... is this supposed to be happening? I was under the impression that mobs can't spawn on trees and I didn't see any way for them to have wandered up there...)

Ok, here is the worst minecraft seed I have found thus far - You are spawned on an almost completely flat expanse of sand with one block sticking out, and I have spotted one tree from the starting point. It's also in the middle of an ocean.

    Seed - Eureka

Here's what it looks like from the starting point -

Ok, thanks guys :tongue.gif: I find it quite annoying to have to watch my step above ground though...

And I'll have to go exploring on the smaller one, and maybe change the scale from "Giant" to "puny" or something like that.

And if there is an abundance of ore in these, maybe I'll wait for the skeletons to leave... not sure though. But, once again, thanks for letting me know my world isn't incredibly screwed up and stuff.

I keep finding these giant holes in the ground that go straight down -- they might lead to cave systems, I haven't gotten up the courage to go down into it... There are plenty of :SSSS: :Zombie: :Skeleton: that spawn down there during the day :smile.gif:

Anyways, here are two of them pretty close to my base:

^^^That one might actually not be so giant. But I won't be finding that out any time soon :smile.gif:

Anyways, these didn't look like the normal above-ground caves that I have seen, so is this just a peculiar map? Should I just cover them up and forget about it? Or do you suggest I go in all sparta with a sword and a stack of torches?
