posted a message on Grass Cubes?? What is this madness!
Okay another post... I need the patcher for HD packs or else it puts fire and portals on the edges of some blocks (so far bricks and gold blocks), but with the patcher it makes the grass cubes. Ugh this is annoying. I really need a fix to this, annoying as hell :\

Hey everyone, thanks for the replies. I did use MC Patcher for this, and I am certain it is the latest version. I'll try it again and fiddle around with the settings, and see if that works.

EDIT: Okay... when I ticked better grass, etc, it did nothing. HOWEVER, when I clicked 'unpatch' it's working now. How does that happen? I thought it needed to be patched to work with 32x32 :\

Well anyway, thanks everyone for the replies. Hopefully Minecraft won't die on me.

posted a message on Grass Cubes?? What is this madness!
Hey everyone, first off I would just like to say this may have been posted before, but the search is down currently, and Google yielded no results for me.
Anyway, I have been working on my own texture pack for a while now, and just recently I have noticed that many blocks of grass have no dirt texture on them, and instead is just solid grass texture. (e.g. sidegrass). it irritates me as some sides of certain blocks are okay, others not so much.

Can anyone give me some tips on how to fix this? Or link me to a thread which (hopefully) answers my question? If you could, it would be greatly appreciated. :grass:

P.S. I have gone into the terrain files of default minecraft and my texture pack, and everything seems to be okay. The fancy side-grass is there, normal, etc. etc. So I really have no idea what is wrong. Below are some screenshots, one of them is on Fast graphics and one is on Fancy. As you can see, there are some solid grass cubes as well as some regular side-blocks.

Hi there, and yes, it appears many people are having this problem, myself included. It only happens when I use a texture pack, though. Other people are getting it no matter what.

I'm sure Notch will fix it soon, because this bug is quite major.

Oh and if anyone has problems with grey/brown water, here is a way to fix it:

In the HD patcher, select the texture pack and 16x16 (you know, the usual). Now, uncheck all of those little check boxes at the bottom (custom water, etc.). That should fix it, it worked for me anyway.

Normally, I don't use 32x32 or lower texture packs. But this is different. I like it for two reasons:

    1. Because of the stunning visuals it has. ("stunning" probably isn't the best word for a 16x16 pack, but I think you know what I mean. It looks great and still feels like Minecraft)

    2. Because it is different. I hate using packs everyone else uses, like Mixcraft and Painterly. This pack is great, it deserves to be famous!

For your hard work and efforts, I present to you these three diamonds, mined by myself in my little mineshaft. :Diamond: :Diamond: :Diamond:

Well, I don't think that Minecraft can do this automatically, the only way I believe you could accomplish this is by opening up an image editing software (that can support transparency, such as Photoshop or GIMP) and placing the tiles in the terrain.png file yourself. I'm sure there will be tutorials for this around the forums, if you have a look.

I have actually tried using the high res paintings with my lower res textures, and unfortunately it crashed and froze :| I'll try re-sizing teh pack, hopefully it won't blur the package :\

EDIT: Bugger, yeah it blurs the textures a bit :| Not much, but enough to get on my nerves. So if anyone has a solution of some kind that would be great.

posted a message on High Res Paintings, Low Res Texture
Hi everyone, sorry if this has been posted before, I did a quick scout of the forums and didn't find anything. Also, sorry if this is in the wrong area :|

But anyway, onto the main topic. I was wondering if it is possible to use a high resolution art file with a lower resolution texture without it crashing. For example, having your art file at 128x128 with your texture pack being on 64x64.

If this is possible and someone knows how, would you kindly let me know (who gets that reference?)? Thanks in advance people.

    Do a re-draw?
If you like i could maybe have a go at it for you, but I'm not that good at pixel art.

I'll give the re-draw a go, hopefully it won't turn out to be a mess of blue and grey blobs. But if I do happen to make a blob of bad colouring instead of what I hoped, if you could give it a go that would be great. I'll keep you informed of my progress haha.

EDIT: All right, I can't re-draw -.- If anyone wants to take up the challenge then please, be my guess hehe.

if you mean you can't actually find an image with the texture in it, go into the minecraft.jar with something like 7-zip and extract the terrain.png from that.

All right, I did that and found the texture, which is great, but unfortunately it is very blurry due to the resizing of it from 16x16 to 128x128 -.-

Any more suggestions where a higher quality one may be found? Thanks for your help.

posted a message on Lapis Lazuli Default Texture
Hey everyone, I'm trying to make my own texture pack and it's going good so far, but I just cannot find the normal lapis lazuli ore block texture. (The pack I am making uses the default ore looks, but edited to make them look shiny and nice). I have looked everywhere on the internet but only found lapis blocks, in-game shots and other things which are of no use to me. So if someone could provide me with a high resolution (128p x 128p) default texture with the lapis lazuli on it, that would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance :smile.gif:

I have that problem too. Used it to find a lot of caves :biggrin.gif:
The problem was that in my custom texture pack, I was missing the dispenser. Well, I put both the front and back of the dispenser in, and everything works fine now. AND I know how to see through caves if I need to :iapprove:
