Dont download mods. They can screw up your game. Even if its a performance mod the creator couldove secretly tampered with game files. Causing who knows what.
I just migrated my account to curse (which I haven't done yet because I never post) just to tell you that you are an idiot. -

also, you can arrange your tnt vertically to fall behind the "cannonball" to increase range. don't think of it as a set back so much as a challenge. -

Mr__Gone posted a message on All infinite things in MinecraftYou're reasoning is off. If you have an infinite amount of leaf blocks, and only 1% produce a sapling, you will still get an infinite number of saplings, as 1% of infinity is still infinity. Clearly the chance to get a sapling from a leaf block is more than 1%, but that doesn't change the point.Posted in: Survival Mode -

I would say no. Say if this is a typical 1000x1000 area of minecraft. That would equal about 1000 logs, ALOT of lava, 40,000ish cobblestone, 10000ish dirt, 7000ish sand/gravel/ores. 3,000 blocks would be consumed to water/lava. say 1700 blocks of lava. Thats 17,000 smelting power. The logs would 1,500 smelting power. The 7000 blocks of gravel/sand/ores, say 1000 of those are coal. 5000 more smelting power. That is incredibly short for smelting 40000 cobblestone. I may be wrong, as these numbers are estimations, but I would say no.
Every singe number in this post is just completely wrong. And also, some of the numbers are irrelevant. I manually dug out a much smaller area of land (less than 100x100) and got 14000 cobble as a reward... In fact I don't even think you even put a single thought into how massive 1000x1000 is as an area. Just one layer of that is a MILLION blocks. Multiply that by 60, and you get SIXTY-FOUR MILLION BLOCKS. And you think only 40K of those is cobblestone?
Not to mention you completely ****ed up your calculations regarding the smelting power of coal, logs, and lava. One coal ore smelts 8 of any item. 1000 coal units would smelt 8000 units of cobblestone. A lava bucket could smelt 64 blocks of cobblestone. I don't know if the ratio of iron ore to lava would be 3 to 1, but if it was it would allow you to use all the lava as a fuel source. Chances are this is not the case, and iron would be the limiting factor as using lava to smelt the cobblestone. Either way your claim that 1700 lava blocks would smelt 17000 blocks of cobble is COMPLETELY wrong. 1700 blocks of lava would smelt over 100,000 blocks of cobblestone. And even if you had 1000 logs (a complete underestimation) you would only need 125 coal to turn them all into charcoal and increase their smelting power.
You say that your numbers may be wrong. They are. Not only do you not know how to estimate, but you do not know basic math. -

So as i was going along in my normal minecraft world, i found a HUGE cave system full of iron and coal. At the end of the system and having over three stacks of iron, I started to think about what to do. Then while getting cobblestone, I found a completly different second system. I then detrimined to make a full fledged MInecart system for the second cave.
But there was a problem: Notch removed the speed glitch...
...Or so we thought...
The Glitch!!!
You will need:
-rails
-blocks
-THREE minecarts
-wolf
-Knowledge of old glitch
Instuctions:
Make the usaul speed glitch booster. But before using it, push your seated dog onto the booster rails. then carefully place another minecart on the rail he is sitting on. this will place your dog in the minecart. Porceed to pushing the dog into the second minecart on the rail, which should be embedded inside a block.
After you have done this, use the booster like you would have before!! It is the same momentum and speed i believe.
Also works with other mobs, like the chicken! (what i used first)
NOTE!!!
there is one problem though... you must replace the cart on the dog each time you log off, so this is not good for large track systems.
If someone who knows the old way try this and make a video, that would be great, cause I can't.
If this is old news go ahead and delete it Mods.
If you dont want this to happen, then fix it Notch!
--------Theory--------
I believe it has to do with the weight. When i tried it, i would slow down to almost a stop and then burst ahead with lots of speed and momentum.
If someone could add weight to the inventory and furnace carts then it would be plausible for large networws again. Or if someone could keep mobs inside carts upon reload that would also work.
Someone should try this in multiplayer with people to see if it works!!
Hope this helps someone! - To post a comment, please login.

Did anyone else immediately think of this song:
And now that I think of it, it's actually quite a fitting song for minecraft life.

Either way, it's not worth it to hoard torches in preparation. However, it would probably be a good idea to have a large tree farm and a stockpile of logs, because it's useful for many other purposes too.
Re: lanturns
No, Notch won't add these; you might find them in a mod sometime, though. :wink.gif:

Of course, you could route the mobs that spawn into a chamber where you can easily shoot them to death, so experience would still be easy to get, just not AFK-able. :tongue.gif:
As already stated, 2-high ceilings will prevent endermen spawning. Then the only thing you need to worry about is the trap walls and ceiling, which you can simply coat with water to shove them away.
Now, if you actually want endermen to spawn, you will probably need to build out of a block type that they can't break, or else they could pick up a block and place it in your water channels, screwing the whole thing up. We'll have to wait for them to come out to see what they can and can't break.

Or better yet, stuff it in a minecart, and push it around. Have it watch its fellows getting slaughtered by an automated grinder, day and night.

For chickens, suspend flowing water with signs partway through your drop. The chickens will get caught, and everything else will keep falling through.
For squid, make a hole in the floor of a horizontal canal and plug the hole with a sign. Squid will fall through, and everything else will keep going forward.
