    I think you can just copy your saves and maybe your screenshots (important folders in there) then back out and delete the .minecraft folder and re-download Minecraft itself from the site. I've done that several times when I eff up a texture pack or want to take out a mod. But back up your worlds and whatnot


    i have searched for the .minecraft folder and have not found it. I know it exists because my saves are always there even when I delete the data (and re-downloaded).

    It's like it's hidden somewhere, since searches are not turning up anything.

    So a while back I tried to install a mod (mac gamer btw) and somehow, someway, I ****ed up.

    Anyway, since then, every time I try to force update, it says I am missing the .jar file.

    I have deleted all my Minecraft data and redownloaded it multiple times but nothing is working.

    Help?
