    Note to Skeeball:

I don't know if you'll ever see this, but I think I destroyed your redstone circuits at the coliseum. I had to leave for work, so I never had time to fix them.
    I'm sorry...

Added a map to the Intro. Things are going great. We've got quite a few buildings in the fort. We've got some massive fortress walls. And we've got a nice minecart station going.

Okay, I figured out what the problem was. It was an error that I created about a week ago when I tried to set up an SSH tunnel. It didn't work. But it's fixed now.

posted a message on How can I PvP protect the spawn?
First, you want to install CuboidPlugin.
Next, you need to add the phrase "CuboidPlugin" to the line titled "plugins=" in server.properties
    Next, restart the server
    Get yourself a wooden shovel

Right-clicking on two blocks will cause the first and second points of the area to be selected. Make sure you select the ENTIRE spawn. This includes any airspace and groundspace that you want to be protected. Also, keep in mind that a cuboid is a 3-dimensional space. In an area like this you would want to select points A and G.

Once you have selected your space, type "/cmod spawn create"
followed by "/cmod spawn toggle pvp"

    And that should do it.
You may also want to do "/cmod spawn toggle protect" to prevent spawn griefing, but thats up to you.
    Hope this helps!

About 20 minutes ago, my server got so laggy that I had to shut the whole things down and reset the box. Now that it's back up and running again, I can't connect. No one can log in. Has anyone else experienced this before?

Server is running Ubuntu 10.4 Server.

    DAY 1:
Quite an eventful day. Looks like we have the start of a rail station in the works. Many craters were made from playing with TNT. Many lives were lost. Much fun was had.

Dedicated PVP sever hosted in Texas (y'all). There aren't many rules, but there are a few things to keep in mind:

    1.Don't grief
2.I will not give you items unless they are impossible to get on your own. lightstone, slow sand, etc
3.I will not change the time of day
4.If you die or are killed, you will NOT get your stuff back
5.If you really want your stuff back, I suggest you go and kill the person who killed you
6.Your chests cannot be protected. Hide them or be prepared to lose them
6.TNT use is restricted, but not banned outright

Okay, now that that's out of the way, I'd also like to tell you that although this is a PVP server, there is room for building. After you have been around for a few days, you can get a plot of land set aside in one of the forts. Currently, there is only one fort, but more will be built as the old ones fill up.
Although your buildings are grief-proof inside the fort, you should know that the land under the fort is completely ore-free. The only place to get ore is in the PVP area. So be careful.

Come on in, have fun, and happy mining!

Trust me. I understand. I put the blog clips there to illustrate just how explicitly I understand.

I will wait patiently for the inventory update.

the fact that greifers can hack in TNT is in itself a way around this problem.
have you ever tried making a stack of 255 items with INVedit or another editor?

just wait for notch to sort the server side inventory.

Say what? Server-side inventory isn't done yet? I could have sworn I saw...

    After a quick Google:

Aug 13, 2010 ... Server-side inventory is coming next week, including shared chests
Aug 16, 2010 ... Working on server-side inventory There are a few stability issues
Aug 25, 2010 ... I'm currently working on server-side inventory, and it's going relatively well.
    Sep 10, 2010 ... + Added server-side inventory (This is what I remember seeing)
Sep 14, 2010 ... I didn't get to add a lot of single player stuff last Friday because I added the first version of the server-side inventory
Dec 3, 2010 ... I will start looking at server-side inventory soon in an attempt to reach beta soon.

Well crap. I guess I'd better prepare to ban TNT in the future.

Let me get this straight. I love TNT. I love blowing things up. I love watching big things getting turned into lots of small things. That being said, I assume that my users also enjoy watching things go boom.
But griefers also love TNT. And that creates a problem.

Is there a mod out there that would prevent a player from carrying more than say, 5 pieces of TNT at a time? I imagine that this might slow down griefing to a more manageable level while still allowing responsible users to enjoy their TNT.

why not restrict the id's in server properties?
cuboid can protect areas, use worldguard to restrict lava fire and tnt.
you should read more on hmod forum :wink.gif:

Mainly because I don't want to restrict TNT everywhere, only in the designated places.

Regardless though, I think I can achieve the same thing if I assign an owner to each plot of land and then tighten the hell out of the security restrictions. This will allow people to play with TNT and lava while also letting people keep their homes in one piece.

I would like to restrict the usage of TNT, obsidian, and lava (etc.) only within predetermined areas. Everywhere else on the server should be no-holds-barred. Is there a plugin that can accomplish this?

I looked through the Cuboid and GriefAlert plugins and they don't appear to give me that capability.
Cuboid will let me define an area to protect, but it won't let me restrict ONLY specific blocks.
GriefAlert will let me restrict specific blocks, but it won't let me contain that restriction to a specific area.
EDIT: nvm, GriefAlert will warn a moderator that suspicious activity is taking place, but it won't actually do anything about it. I'm not sure which plugin actually stops the blocks from being placed.

I don't know, both of these plugins do half of what I want, but they don't seem to cooperate at all.
    Anyone interested?
