    Dungeon Idea Suggestion!


    The Rotting Cesspool (Swamp) - The workings of Dark Magic can corrupt all things, especially the frailer souls of mortal men and women. Found within swamp biomes, filthy and plague-riddled villages can be found, forsaken by the use of Dark Magic for reasons left for interpretation. Whatever this reason may be, the residents of these villages have now been transformed into rotting abominations, from decaying zombies to giant ogres of rotten flesh, to bloated husks filled with plenty of crawling critters. Other than the dozens of decaying monsters, other creatures such as giant flies, undead carrion birds or maggots can be found here as well, along with strange Plague Doctors who seem to seek out these forsaken villages to gather materials for their sinister research.

    • Rotten Zombie: Acts much like a regular zombie, but has lower heath and will cause poison damage upon attacking the player.
    • Bot Fly: Large, carnivorous flies that fly towards the player, dealing contact damage.
    • Maggot: Aimlessly bove around until a player approaches, attacking them on sight.
    • Barfer: Fat zombies that will vomit clusters of damaging slim towards the player, leaving behind damaging goo on the ground.
    • Host: Quick on their feet, Host are skeletal zombies that will try and leap towards the player from great distances. Will occasionally create a toxic gas cloud around itself.
    • Vessel: Zombies that will spawn Bot Flies and Maggots from their bodies, and will explode upon death.
    • Zombie Hulk: Large and brutish zombies that charge towards the player, dealing great damage and occasionally throwing other mobs at them.
    • Plague Doctor: Magic-using enemies that summon Bot Flies and Rotten Zombies, and can create clouds of toxic gas and shoot sprays of green, poisonous projectiles.
    • Rot Carrion: Zombie birds that swoop down onto the player, dealing poison upon impact.

    Important Announcement:

    Us here at the Monsters & Dungeons team aren’t dead! However, we have been super busy with education and family, all that stuff, but we have still progressed, just not as much as we hoped. To aid in our progress, we are searching for experienced texture artists and animators, if you feel qualified or know someone be sure to tell us! If you are an active coder or modeler, or have some other talent you feel is usable for us, be sure to tell us too!

    Unfortunately, we don’t have any updates to show together with this, but we can give you some information on what we have been working on:

    -We are planning to improve the chess-dungeon (Known as the forgotten halls) already implemented with an expansion. This will include 1 new mob, 2 new bosses, a final dual boss battle, a whole new set of loot and a trip to the nether with a more ominous feel!



    We also plan on some new mechanics, such as a new complicated crafting system for weapons and armour, a stamina system for exciting combat and new loot types!

    Besides some of you may remember that in the original post several other critters and dungeons were mentioned - They haven’t been forgotten!

    -The swampdwellers (Toad people) are on their way, they too will get some interesting updates, such as their not-so-peaceful relatives who lives in jungles and shoot poison darts - It’s unknown when we’ll get to meet them, however.



    -If you remember the beehive dungeon, be ready for a total rework - It will now be The Endhive! This will be an End exclusive dungeon with lots of crawly critters and winding tunnels and best of all? - It is one our next planned updates! And even better, loot!


    Gasp! What could it be?

    Further in the future (No date, this is only speculation), we will also include stuff like dragons which will be found in a new biome with its own dungeons and inhabitants. Besides that we’re progressing on the egyptian-inspired dungeon, but it has a low priority at the moment, it will maybe come out after the endhive and frogvillage. And no, we haven’t forgotten the user-suggested idea that won the poll we had, the goblin camp, who knows when it will come? We certainly don’t yet. Another worthy mention is The Maze of Daedalus (That name may change), a greek inspired maze world. Yes a whole world of mazes. This will be quite a challenge and include several bosses, mobs, NPC’s, mounts, tons of loot and its very own biomes - But don’t get too hyped for that yet as it’s still far away in the future.

    Of course we have a lot of other ideas and concepts that may or may not come at a later date, but these are our major tasks as of now.

    I see you've taken inspiration from my Greek-themed dungeon suggestion :D

    Any who, i'm very happy to see this news, as well as the plans you guys have for upcoming content. I'm really excited to see the new enemies, bosses and loot to be implemented into the Forgotten Halls, as well as the sweet, sweet potential of that sick looking Endhive! the Swampdwellers will also be a very welcomed addition as well! And because I want to continue helping you guys on this mod despite my lack of knowledge over texture art or animating, I'll be sure to keep sharing suggestions for mob, boss, item and dungeon ideas with you guys!

    I just have two questions, though:
    1. It was mentioned that you guys were going to give a more ominous feel to the Nether, and I was curious on if this means that there are possible plans of adding new additions to that dimension, such as mobs, bosses, dungeons and items?
    2. For the Maze of Daedalus that was talked about (which I am SUPER hyped about) will it be some sort of high-difficulty "mega" dungeon? And could there be a possibility that could see more dungeons like this in the far future? I'm sorry, but this information made me really excited; you guys are just nailing it with this mod XD

    After thinking about ideas for mobs for the End, I came up with this one idea that utilizes the power of planeswalking :D


    Rift Vampires


    Rift Vampires are abhorrent, alien creatures that dwell in outer space and are characterized by their ravenous appetite for blood. The creature uses its enormous talons to capture its prey, grappling and crushing the unfortunate and then draining the victim's blood through its tubular suckers. Although these creatures are corporeal and can be killed, they often reside in an alternate reality called the Rift, an alternate dimension to the material plane. After it has fed, a Rift Vampire will quickly depart, with an eerie, ghastly laughter following in its wake.


    When the player encounters a Rift Vampire in the End, the creature will appear as mass of eerie partial effects that will peruse the player. That, and the sardonic, preternatural titter it makes, both herald the imminent arrival of a Rift Vampire, in which the player keep a lookout for when traversing the End. When in the Rift, the creature is not only invisible, but also completely immune to all forms of damage, whether it by environmental or from the player. However, the creature is also unable to attack the player when in the Rift, and will need to leave it before it begins its assault. When out of the Rift, a Rift Vampire could fire beams of electrical energy from it's talon's as it's main method of combat, but will sometimes try to grab the player to consume their blood, in which the player will need to hit them to make them let go.


    Upon death, a Rift Vampire could have a chance to drop an item called the Planeswalker Shard, which will allow the the player to enter the Rift for twenty seconds, or when the player chooses to leave the Rift by toggling it.. In the Rift, they will be immune to all forms of damage and will pass through all mobs, but cannot inflict damage onto mobs, destroy blocks, or pick up items.

    I should point out that's Builtrooper is working on a redesigne of the Griffins, in which he posted a picture of his progress on his twitter account. This that in mind, I have a feeling that a lot of the models on that link are also going to receive remodels. (The Queen Bee model looks really good, though!)


    As for this new thread you guys made, is it private for Builttrooper and the rest of the dev team, or is it open for other people to look at?

    I'm really happy to hear this! Take all the time you guys need to perfect this mod until it's ready for release; I'll be very sure to post any bugs and glitches when that day comes! :D


    As for animations, can we expect mobs to have higher quality animations than the vanilla mobs, or bosses like the Rook to have death animations?
