It helps, because the people claiming it doesn't work are doing something else wrong. Follow those steps exactly on a clean Minecraft installation and you cannot fail. If you do, your computer or Java installation is broken.
The only challenging part is actually downloading Forge. Their servers have been offline most of the past week.
There are 3 (maybe 4, I looked quite a bit ago so I'm not sure) people giving different instructions on that page though, which one do we follow?
The bottom post of the last page page 2255 shows instructions on getting it to work, as well as about 100 other places over the last 20 pages or so. Folks really need to at least read a page or two before saying they can't get it to work.....
Like weltallofid said it's been spammed to hell and back. I'm guessing the OP hasn't been edited to show the problem is because the mod creator has been on vacation.. (I read that somewhere)

by any chance do you have a not offline link to it? everything on the forge site is offline to me
No, I'm without an offline link unfortunately. Actually, the files aren't even the problem anymore. The problem now is going to the Twilight Forest realm causes extreme rubber banding / no textures. Only on the server though, single player is fine.
Hey all. I'm having some difficulties with the Forge Server (trying to run the "Twilight forest mod" on it.)
Long story short my minecraft_server.jar will run and create the server, however it will not use the "world" folder enclosed in the same folder it is located in. I can't even find where the world folder is the server is running. Does anybody know how to fix this? Many thanks.
Hi everyone! A couple of friends and I got together not too long ago and decided we would make a map! We're still in the early stages of making this Adventure Map, and none of us have made one before, so we're looking for any tips you guys could give us from a couple play throughs! This map has

-Pigs

-A TON of easter eggs
-All of the other stuff
Any advice on story editing, or map changes that seem necessary would be awesome to have.

Edit #1: So, we've received feedback telling us that the part with the blue spiders, in the cellar, is too hard. We're going to change that spawner to either normal spiders or zombies.

I come from a far away land where goblins and dwarfs have been at constant struggle for power. I was an engineer for the goblin army and had been commisioned to build a neucleur device of immense preportions. The result of the explosion was a hellish and apocolyptic crater littered with the remains of others. I've since renounced my destructive ways and have become a nomad looking for a place to call my home. Something in the elders makes them think that there still may be some darkness in my heart... They're right.
well in terms of creepy I had an idea of a puppet master idea, Basically it would be found deep in the nether, spawning in a cave, surrounded by smaller caves. at the center would be the puppet master. he would lie dormant until you enter one of the nearby caves. upon entering one of the caves surrounding the puppet mater would awaken then start messing with your mind, creating illusions, like really rare stones appearing in the wall, then when you try to mine them, it will activate like TnT. he would also summon Puppets to chase you, they would be silent and would have very very erratic movements. The blocks will shift around, he would close the entrances to the caves you've made, but for every entrance he closes he must open another. The closer you get to the puppet master, the stronger and more common his illusions and tricks get., your vision will distort, sinister laughter will play,you will see mobs that aren't found else where, some blocks will have textures of other blocks. When you fight him he will try more illusions like the classic make many fake clones trick, and other things. upon killing him you would get some very rare loot, and then the rest of the caves would return to normal.
try going through that without even being a little scared. also to enhance the effect would be not to mention the existence of these things on the mods page. But the price for that would be people spamming posts about seeing it. Also it would be difficult as Hell to code probably.
Screw my idea, I would like to see this. In addition to it, the second the dungeon "activates" (meaning when you see the first "puppet") the sound shuts off. Giving it a feeling like you shouldn't have done what you just did. Also, the room with the puppet master would be lit only by the poisonous glowshrooms.
cephalapodia, this is an issue caused by the newest release. Jab has reposted the older v1.5 release, for minecraft 1.7.3, which actually runs faster than the aether.
To the person making jails: that's pretty good! I'm going to use that, whether the yetis do or not!

Crap, anybody have a mirror to the recommend forge build? Their website is down.It's up again, whoo! Unfortunatly running the minecraft_server.jar isn't generating any files on start-up. Anybody know how to fix this? :\
