posted a message on Minecraft Beta naming schemes

Why is the naming schemes of Minecraft Beta weird? Like, what I mean is first we got Beta 1.0_01 but then we got Beta 1.0.2? Why it's so weird?

Not only did Beta 1.0_01 and Beta 1.0.2 have this weird naming scheme but Beta 1.7_01, Beta 1.7.2 and Beta 1.7.3 too.

Here is a list of the revisions of each Minecraft Beta versions:

    Beta 1.0:

    • Beta 1.0_01

    • Beta 1.0.2

    Beta 1.1:

    • Beta 1.1_02

    Beta 1.2:

    • Beta 1.2_01

    • Beta 1.2_02

    Beta 1.3:

    • Beta 1.3_01

    Beta 1.4:

    • Beta 1.4_01

    Beta 1.5:

    • Beta 1.5_01

    • Beta 1.5_02

    Beta 1.6:

posted a message on Chest size

Back when chests we're first added, it used to be a full block but since Beta 1.8, why did chests become entities and become smaller (I think it's 14x14)? Also why did double chests have a line at the top before Beta 1.8?

posted a message on Dirt Background

While we are on the topic of the dirt background, Phoenix SC pointed out by using programmer art, by simply pausing, the dirt background covers it unlike old versions so either Nostalgic Tweaks will add the functionality for the dirt background or Mojang will fix this.

And while on the topic of dirt background, why didn't Mojang add a toggle for the dirt background outside Programmer Art?

posted a message on 1.5 Animation

In 1.4.7 and below, animations used procedural aimated texture generation, for example, for the clock to generate its appearances, the clock combined 2 textures, one being the actual clock, and the other being the dial which resulted in this clock animation with 228 visually distinct frames:

Clock animation in Alpha v1.2.0 to 1.4.7

In 1.5, each animation is pre-rendered resulting in this less smoother animation:

    Clock animation since 1.5

    Why is it changed?

Why is the dirt background removed in 24w09a? Why did they have to remove such a nostalgic element of Minecraft?
