posted a message on Allocated memory hitting 100%

My render distance is 7 chunks. The maxing out of the allocated memory doesn't immediately happen as soon as I load the world, rather when I go near a certain area it hits 100% (starts off at 50% and then quickly goes up to 60%) Also my map consists of floating landmasses with around 50 blocks of air below that not including the void. Also I am on vanilla and the floating dungeons were just structures I put into my map.

The Undersides of the landmasses need a lot of work. Caves on the above side usually have discontinuities around y=65 and the ore veins below that still mirror everything above that (mostly) and I also want to add glowstone and hanging plants.

Also this morning I began to work on making the Nether skylands as well.

Okay, this just happened again while I was on my map and I didn't even go near one of the floating dungeons. I am worried that some people might think my map will be dead on arrival because of this.

I think your map is messed up because there are advancements in this map. I am just not sure whether or not to unzip the resources folder, have you?

posted a message on Jungle Spawn, Mansion about 1000 blocks away

The seed "-432904948710153363" without the quotes will spawn you in a jungle with a mansion at around -1050, y, -780 (which is still relatively nearby for a mansion given that you may travel 30,000+ blocks without seeing one). There is also a temple several hundred blocks south of spawn at around 138, y, 726.

I've had warnings on May 27, July 14, and August 4 (I only got a point on the last one). I have been here for 5 1/2 months (which means I get 1 warning every 56 days on average), and it's your fault you are getting warned. My first one was for necroposting and my second one for spamming my own thread and my third one was for calling someone a noob because I thought it was cool and funny. Also I don't see this as the reason the forum has been losing activity.

UPDATE 2: It happened again in another floating dungeon in my map. I think this is mob spawner related because it ALWAYS happens with the floating dungeons in my map.

I decided to just recycle some old ideas for the floating Dungeons in this map, but one of them caused this problem with the allocated memory so I had to remake that idea.

But I do have the one that looks like a big sphere of terrain done. In that one I am not sure if I want to make it obvious on first glance or let some people walk in to their doom, but if one day you download the map and are planning to go into one, please read this. In this dungeon, you will face witches, husks, cave spiders, and strays, all of which give you negative effects, so don't even think about entering the battle room until you have several buckets of milk, a good sword, and good armor.

Here is a screenshot of the battle room in that dungeon:

UPDATE: I removed the dungeon I mentioned in the OP from the map and now I am no longer having this problem when loading it.

posted a message on Allocated memory hitting 100%

So this morning I loaded up my work-in-progress Skylands map but then something deeply troubling happened. The allocated memory quickly went up to about 70% and when I moved around a little it reached 100%. I don't remember this happening at all until yesterday when I added a dungeon with a bunch of mob spawners. Also there are still several areas with a flat bottom at Y=64 that I haven't fixed causing lighting glitches. I am convinced that one of those two things is causing this issue, but no matter what is causing it, having to constantly monitor the memory usage and worrying about your game eventually running out of memory would really suck the fun out of the Minecraft experience. I have 1 GB of RAM allocated to Minecraft. Can anyone help me figure this out?

UPDATE 11/9: I found out that this has something to do with the initial large increase in the allocated memory when loading the world. Going to the Nether and back actually lowered the allocated memory amount, so it is definitely something while loading the map.

UPDATE 12/6: I loaded another world of mine first before going on my map, and the allocated memory on the latter never got higher than 37% (384 MB).

UPDATE 12/17: I actually saw the allocated memory at 98% for a second before it hit 100%, which tells me that it is a runaway increase instead of a sudden jump.

UPDATE 1/13/18: I was just on my map and the allocated memory shot up from 35% to 82% in 1 second a little bit after I started digging around in the creative inventory. So I think that has something to do with it.

UPDATE 2/8/18: I have figured out that it has to do with the bed item models (which are in the Decorations tab of the creative menu). Ignore all my other speculation on the cause.

So I can now tell you more. There will be just four Ruins structures in the entire map. 3 coincide with stronghold locations in the seed, while there is another one east of the southernmost stronghold within 3500 blocks of spawn in this seed. Ruins will include everything you'd find in a stronghold, and will look like a village with (obviously) wrecked buildings. The End portal implies that whatever wrecked the Village came from the End, went back, and now the portal has fallen into disrepair.

I now have a screenshot of one of the Ruins structures:

Does anyone know what happened in late 2012 or in 2013 that caused the forum to drop in activity? Was that when the rules were changed? Or was it something else, like 1.3?

I still have the Birch Forest, Mesa, and Mushroom Island to work on.

But for now, let's move on to the Structures. First, I decided to improve the Villages. The houses will be slightly bigger and contain fireplaces, bookshelves, carpets, and beds. There will be sugarcane and pumpkin farms. Every village will have a Church and Blacksmith.

The seed for this map (7054886416251170592) does not have any woodland mansions within 3500 blocks of the origin (the world border in this map), so I will add a replacement to the Roofed Forest biomes, the Illage, which is a village only with dark oak wood items and the buildings include most of everything you would find in a Woodland Mansion, as well as one-time Illager spawns. In the basement of one of the houses there will be an Evoker. I now have an early screenshot of the Illage in the Roofed Forest biome a few hundred blocks northeast of spawn.

The terrain never goes below about Y 50 so there will be no strongholds. I am thinking of adding surface ruins as a replacement.
