    I am using a downloaded version of Java (1.8.0_121). And I am using NO MODS. This happens only with the Decorations tab (I scrolled all the way through Building Blocks and nothing like this happened). I have 1 GB RAM allocated as I said in the OP (and my JVM arguments are not set in a way that would keep the allocated memory at 100%). The points earlier in the thread where I said it was mob spawners were because it is so easy to jump to conclusions with these things.

    Okay, I think I have found the issue. Every single time this happened I had opened the Decorations tab in the creative menu. Just the other day I did that and sure enough the allocated memory went from about 35% to 82% in a fraction of a second, which happens whenever I open that tab in the creative menu.

    Sometimes, when I go to a page on this forum, it will take a much longer time than usual to load, only for nothing to load other than the background and the header. So I end up having to reload the page, when it will load normally. Also, I just got a broken-looking 504 page not even 10 minutes ago trying to get into the forum (which didn't happen when I tried again 3 seconds later).

    I am doing a complete overhaul of the terrain in my map. I will probably keep the current terrain in this map for a map that I will just play survival on and not release. I will see if I can re-add features like flowing rivers to the map afterwards.

    Back in early August, I was warned (and given a point) for calling someone a noob. Why is noob considered flaming/insulting? Would "newb" have been a better term?

    It appears that the easiest trick to get Sky Dimension-like terrain with customized is to change the Main Noise Scale X and Main Noise Scale Z settings (I set both to 160). If you delete everything below Y=64 in the preset I used, it will look a bit more like the Sky Dimension.

    I want the terrain in my Skylands map to be the same (or at least more similar to) what it would have been in the canceled Sky Dimension in the same seed. There are mods out there such as Better World Generation or Skylands Forge that give you this terrain. Most of these mods are stuck in 1.7.10 and I have concerns about downgrading my game, so hopefully someone else can do this.


    If you happen to come across this post, and have one of those mods installed, please do the following:


    Create a skylands world with the seed "7054886416251170592" without the quotes (how to do this depends on which mod you are using).

    Generate a decent amount of terrain (about 2000 by 2000 blocks would be good).

    Upload the world to a site like MediaFire (please make it a ZIP folder because I don't have a program to open RAR files) and give the link, otherwise I will not be able to download it!


    However, if you don't want to install any mods, try messing around with the world customizer until you can get a Skylands-like world with about 50 blocks of height variation.

    By this, I mean, how long does a thread have to be inactive for a reply to be considered a necropost? And why is it so bad? I was once warned for necroposting, but that thread was from 2012, which makes sense.

    I noticed something. The terrain in my map isn't quite Sky Dimension-like. Are there any mods I can use that have the Sky Dimension as a world type (because I don't know if MCEdit will recognize modded dimensions), that AREN'T stuck on 1.7.10? Because I have serious reservations about downgrading more than a few major updates, but at the same time want to use mods to get the terrain I want for my map. If you have used mods like BWG4 or Skylands Forge, you know what I am talking about.

    I have done some further digging into the properties of Skylands terrain and saw this one line, d *= 2D, which means that the Coordinate Scale gets multiplied by 2 before it is further manipulated. This means that the Depth Noise Scales should be kept the same, but the Main Noise Scale X and Main Noise Scale Z should be changed from 80 to 40, I believe.

    I decided to start working on the dungeon loot in this map yesterday and the allocated memory skyrocketed from 35% to 100% in less than a minute, like seriously? Why a simple dungeon chest would cause that much of a problem is beyond me. Anyway, I decided to include biome specific loot in the dungeons in this map, like cacti in deserts and saplings in forests depending on the types of trees found there, and slimeballs in swamp dungeons.
