You're clearly wondering what happened to Convicted and why there has been changes.
As you've likely realized, Convicted has shut down. Viper for his own reasons is no longer continuing to run the server.
This offers us both an opportunity to benefit the communities of both MCF and Convicted.
Out of respect and what we feel is best for Convicted, the server domain will now point to the Minecraft Community Prison (MCP) which is a server I have ran for the past few years. This will allow both communities to combine and hopefully rekindle the classic prison genre.
Originally MCP was a server which came after Convicted and was inspired by it. Due to this the base structure of MCP is similar to the foundation of Convicted.
MCP has been a hobby for many years and I have enjoyed adding things to it to keep it interested, players may find it more developed than Convicted, possibly overwhelming.
I promise you though if you take the time to get used to it I believe you could have a great experience on this server like you did on Convicted.
As a result a merge into MCP will be fairly simple, hopefully smooth as possible.
Merge facts:
- We'll be transferring player ranks up to Free
- Up to 100k of a players money will be transferred
- Donators on Convicted 2.0 will be given a 2 week donator access on MCP
Contact Silas_Bowen or Zeedin to get help with your transfer. We will only be able transfer your data if we confirm you had it before.
Of course if you have any questions or concerns make sure to voice them.
server got boring, even less to do in free than there was before
basically all the revamp did was make the prison different and add some fancy new plugins
thus, people got bored and moved on to other things and stuff yeah
plus, if a few people start to quit, then more and more people will until you have the 3 maximum people daily that we have now
So there’s a lot of controversy right now revolving around quests and how there’s nothing for frees to do, and it’s becoming basically the same thing as 1.0 - wasn’t this what 2.0 aimed to fix? I don’t want to blame anyone, so I won’t say that this is anyone’s fault. But at the moment, there’s even less for frees to do than there was before, at least in my opinion. Omega shops are minimal, there are barely any quests and they’re even harder than before, basically, there’s nothing to do but parkour and mine. These things get boring or frustrating after a while, and what results is people quitting.
I have several ideas as to what frees could do, but I don’t have the details or logistics of anything worked out, and there’s literally nothing I can do without speaking to a warden. I’m sure other players have ideas too, so if I and others who are willing to help could get the contact information of a warden or two, I’m sure we could work together to solve these problems and make Convicted more enjoyable for everyone. I don’t really want to post my suggestions on the forums without the opinion of one of the staff, just in case any of them are completely ridiculous. Just my thoughts.
You guys can save your condolences for some other year, Convicted has gone gold and is currently being double checked for any bugs by the staff's coders. An official release date will be announced with in the next week or so with the server's release being shortly after that. In the meantime, we have prepared a trailer to showcase some of the revamped areas in the prison. Convicted will fully utilize updated 1.8 plugins to not only bring back the classic prison server everyone once loved, but to also introduce new gamemodes, improved events, and an overall better experience that just was not possible on the previous server. We appreciate your patience and look forward to seeing you there on MC-Convicted.org!

I have a probably crappy idea that will probably be rejected for faction claiming that was probably already suggested but yolo -
Make it so that you can't claim over someone else's buildings or within x chunks of someone else's building (and, vice versa, don't claim directly next to someone else's claim / don't build right next to someone's claim)
Some of these ideas are probably really bad and have obvious flaws that I can't see because I'm blind, but yeah. This would protect large-scale projects and structures in free and encourage building in a bigger area than what you're able to claim. Or just get rid of faction claiming :^) I'm probably way too late anyway
I really like this idea. I think everyone should be given their own ID, just like a person on the first page said, and that can be accessed with a special command. This is what they will use to ban people.
When I first bought Minecraft, I was nearly stuck having to use my father's e-mail address for my IGN because he created a Mojang account, even though I already had my own Minecraft.net account.
This can help for people, for example, who choose a name like "Sethbling". In one of Skydoesminecraft's Survival Games episodes, Seth commented that he chose this name while he was in high school.
Also, if you make a typo in your name and are too tired or lazy to notice it, this feature could help correct it.
If you want to have a YouTube Channel, but not a username with a long chain of numbers at the end, you can change it without having to buy a new account.
This is why I support the idea, and ways to help adjust to it.
