started checking out the mod, it seems really promising so far ! the only complaint i have during my around 20 or so minutes of casual exploring is that i think the cow drops might be a bit op (i fairly consistently get 6 leather from cows, which feels like way too much considering things), but besides that i'm very happy with the changes so far. the sprites all look nice, i especially think the touch of coral in the lakes makes for a beautiful sight, and i just overall look forward to seeing how u go about with updates here on out :>

skydeckagogo posted a message on "Better than Adventure!" for Beta 1.7.3 - Timely updates revolving around the theme of "Minecraft without the adventure update"Posted in: Minecraft Mods
Overview
"Better Than Adventure" (BTA) is an extensive mod for Minecraft beta 1.7.3, bringing out regular updates attempting to create a more "finalized" version of beta Minecraft while also maintaining the look and feel of the game pre-adventure update. BTA works very different from other mods as it acts as more of a “fork” of Minecraft, than an addition to it. As of beta 1.7.6, As such, existing mods for beta 1.7.3 are not compatible with BTA. However, we are working hard to allow the community to make and publish their own mods for BTA specifically.

Introduction
Minecraft has changed a lot since its initial beta period in 2011. The game has grown substantially, and new features, mechanics and systems continue to be added even to this day. While this is all well and good, there are still players out there who don't enjoy the direction the game took post-release, or simply have nostalgia for beta minecraft and wish to return to a time without hunger, experience or enchantments with a few bells and whistles on.
Better Than Adventure is designed to appeal to these players who enjoy the simpler gameplay of the old beta versions of Minecraft, yet also want to try something new and exciting. Think of it as an "alternate universe" version of minecraft that attempts to maintain the look-and-feel of beta 1.7.3, while also keeping things fresh with new features and additions such as new blocks, biomes and quality of life improvements. Despite what the name implies, this mod isn't necessarily trying to offer something inherently better than modern Minecraft, just something different. Think of it as a long-lost branch of Minecraft, what could have been if Notch and Jeb took the game in a slightly different direction.
While BTA is designed mostly to appeal to older players who grew up with beta, the aim of the mod in general is simply to offer an alterate take on the game. So if you're just looking for something new to enjoy, try this mod out too. You may like it!

Features and Changes
Technical Changes
Under the hood, BTA is very different from vanilla beta 1.7.3. The majority of existing bugs have been ironed out and fixed, and almost the entire game has been rewritten and optimised to make the development of new additions much, much easier. For example, the game’s implementation of McRegion has been rewritten to allow for 256 block-high worlds, the game now has native support for HD texture packs, and the block ID system has been overhauled to allow for thousands of blocks, instead of beta 1.7.3’s hard-limit of 256.
New Features and Gameplay Changes
BTA offers a plethora of new features and mechanics. The biggest of which is probably the new “seasonal cycle”.
Seasons
Minecraft worlds now cycle through 4 seasons, over a span of 28 days (7 days per season). These seasons provide an interesting spin on survival gameplay; as the seasons change and winter begins to fall, the game will become progressively more challenging. Crops start to grow less often, mobs spawn more frequently, and the nights will become longer. It is important you plan around the changing seasons, stocking up on resources to survive the cold winter
Revamped Beta World Generation
The iconic beta world generation has also been given a major touch-up in BTA. First and foremost, the sea-level has been risen to 128, which means 128 blocks of underground, and 128 blocks of overworld. This also means mountains can grow to twice the size they could than before, leading to even wackier terrain than normal.
Biomes have been changed too, they now generate at around twice the size they used to, meaning no more ugly micro-deserts. Existing biomes have also been touched up to make them more unique, for example, swamplands now spawn with fields of algae and mossy trees, and seasonal forests spawn groves of cherry trees that shine a bright pink in the spring.
We also added 3 new biomes as well, the meadow, a flat plains with heaps of flowers, the boreal forest, a warm taiga
with giant spruce trees, and the outback, a scorched red desert with groves of Eucalyptus trees and spinifex bushes!
Creative Mode
One thing that beta 1.7.3 and below did lack was a functioning creative mode where you can test out contraptions and plan builds in a world with infinite blocks and health. This has been added to BTA, however its not just a simple port of beta 1.8’s creative mode. We thought we’d try and improve on it by adding better flying controls, a more readable creative inventory, and a list of single player commands.
New Blocks
3 new types of stone with brick and cobbled variants (Basalt, Granite and Limestone), painted wooden planks in 16 different dye colours, dirt paths, fence gates, new slab and stair variants for existing blocks, coloured Redstone lamps and many, many more blocks to expand your building capabilities with. As well as that, BTA also adds new blocks for Redstone contraptions, such as retractable ‘spike traps’ that damage mobs when stepped on, ‘motion sensors’ that activate when mobs move past them, and ‘mesh blocks’ that allow items to pass through them, yet block off mobs and players.
Steel
Exploring the nether now has a purpose with the addition of steel, a refined form of iron, made from smelting iron bars in a blast furnace with a new nether-exclusive ore called “nether coal” that offers extremely high durability tools at the cost of being slightly slower at mining than diamond. It can also be used to make a rocket launcher???!!
The Guidebook
Because we understand that sometimes recipes can be difficult to discover, especially in modded games, we decided to add a “guidebook” accessed by pressing R in-game that tells you each of the recipes found in the game. However, this book works a little differently to how you’d expect…
The book starts with all the items blacked out, filling out each item once obtained by the player to maintain the sense of discovery for those who enjoy finding things out for themselves. It also offers as a completion objective for players who wish to fill out the book completely and “craft ‘em all”. (But alternatively if you just want to see the new recipes for yourself, try opening the book in creative)

Installation: MultiMC/Prism Update Utility
The MultiMC update utility will allow you to automatically update/load the latest release of BTA without having to install a brand new instance from the forum page!
- To install the utility, simply drag and drop that link onto your MultiMC instance list, then run it. It'll generate a managed instance of BTA, which you can then run to launch the mod.
- Whenever the mod releases a new update you can just run the update utility again and it'll automatically upgrade your managed instance to the latest version! No more messing around with jar files, and all your saves, screenshots and settings will be in exactly the same place
Installation: MultiMC/Prism Instance
- Download MultiMC and load it up
- Simply drag and drop the 'MultiMC instance' zip file into your MultiMC and it should appear on your instances screen. Alternatively, click "add instance" and "import from zip" then locate the file and click "OK"
- Load your newly created instance and play!
How to run the server jar
- Simply run it like you would an exe. Warning, it will use the server.jar's host directory as a local directory meaning all the files it creates will be placed in whatever folder your jar is in! So try to put it in its own folder somewhere!
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What's Better than Adventure?
A: Welcome! Better than Adventure is a mod for Minecraft Beta 1.7.3. It was originally intended to add a few new features for a personalised experience, but has since grown into a full-fledged fork of Minecraft, adding dozens of new features for players to enjoy. Our philosophy is to add new gameplay that enhances and improves on the existing aspects of the game, without drastically changing the core experience. The question we like to ask ourselves is, "Would Mojang have added this to the vanilla game back in 2011?" If the answer is yes, it's probably a good candidate for BTAQ: How can I get Better than Adventure?
A: The recommended method of playing BTA is via our handy MultiMC update utility, which you can find here!
To install the utility, simply drag and drop that link onto your MultiMC instance list, then run it. It'll generate a managed instance of BTA, which you can then run to launch the mod. The neat part is, whenever the mod releases a new update you can just run the update utility again and it'll automatically upgrade your managed instance to the latest version! No more messing around with jar files, and all your saves, screenshots and settings will be in exactly the same place
Q: What does this mod do?
A: Lots of things! We've added so much new stuff to this mod that it's honestly impossible to keep track of it all. A good place to start if you want to know everything is our update changelogs.
However, an experience we find a lot of people seem to enjoy is just going in blind and discovering new stuff as you play. We're always happy to answer any questions you might have on our Discord server, so feel free to join and ask!
There's also a recipe book called the Guidebook built into the game, which is bound to R by default. Recipes start blacked out, but progressively reveal themselves as you discover the items that comprise them. Don't be afraid to experiment!
Q: Who works on this mod?
A: The lead developer, founder, and benevolent dictator of BTA is me, aka @Mak#7981 over on Discord.
There's also, @jonkadelic;4422 - My handy co-developer.
Our overall organisation structure is pretty informal. We also have a few contributors who chip in with help and technical expertise and are very much appreciated.
Q: How can I help with this mod?
A: Thanks for the interest! There's a few ways you can help with BTA: firstly, if you're a programmer, feel free to ask us about becoming a contributor on our Discord, as we're always eager to get new people with different abilities and skillsets involved with development. Just be aware that the standards expected are pretty high, so we'll need to see some evidence of your ability before giving you access.
Secondly, if you're a texture artist, stick around! We pretty frequently ask the community for new textures, since there's a lot of talented people out there who can make far better art than we can. Thirdly, post suggestions in suggestion-discussion! We're always looking for new ideas to make the mod better.
If none of those things apply, spread the word! Tell your friends, partners, coworkers, or even strangers on the street about BTA. After all, the more the merrier!
Q: Is BTA compatible with other mods
A: Yes and no - BTA is only compatible with mods specifically made for it. Most mods you can think of will not work, as a lot of our optimizations means we have had to change/rewrite way too much of the codebase for anything else to be compatible. This means that until someone miraculously ports it over, you won't be able to play BTA with Aether, or BTA with Moon Mod, so on and so forth.
Q: Why can't I craft a Bed?
A: You can! The recipe is just a little different. In BTA, zombies drop cloth rather than feathers. The bed recipe requires 2 cloth and 1 wool, rather than 3 wool, like below:
Q: Can you backport <feature> from modern Minecraft?
Yes, we could if we wanted to, but that's not really our philosophy. If there's a feature from a later version we'd like to include in BTA, we ask ourselves how we can reinvent that feature in a way that still gets us there while also giving players a new experience.
For example, modern Minecraft features multiple different varieties of wooden planks, and so does BTA. However, in BTA ours come from giving the player the ability to dye oak planks, which gives them a fun new pastel color palette to play with.
Q: When's the next update coming out?
A: When it's ready. We used to give release dates for updates, but frankly it led to a lot of stress for us and a lot of disappointment for everyone else because we'd almost invariably miss those dates.
So now we just publish updates when we feel they're in a good enough place to go out, no matter how long it takes.

DirtPiper posted a message on The "Not So Seecret Saturday" Mod for Alpha 1.1.2_01 - Exploring an alternative Minecraft development path [1.1.11_111-1]Posted in: Minecraft Mods
On September 18th, 2010, Notch released the final "Seecret" update - weekly updates where the features had to be figured out by the community themselves - before dedicating his attention to the forthcoming Halloween update and releasing Alpha 1.2, changing the face of Minecraft forever.
Notably, Alpha 1.2 marked a permanent change in the look and feel of minecraft - the previous aesthetic of neon-green grass and leaves was replaced by a range of foliage colors that varied based on biomes, small localized areas where the terrain was different based on temperature and humidity.
To be honest, I was never all that wild about biomes.
Not So Seecret Saturday is a project that I've been working on over the past three years to provide a sort of alternative to what we ultimately got: a minecraft from some parallel reality where Notch scrapped biomes and worked on other ideas. Due to this philosophy, NSSS (pronounced as N-Triple-S) works very differently from other mods: NSSS is essentially a fork of Minecraft Alpha 1.1.2_01, with an entirely refactored and reorganized codebase. NSSS is not compatible with other mods for 1.1.2_01, rather, there are mods made for NSSS (which you can find in our discord!).
Here's some things you can expect from this mod:
• Numerous quality of life improvements• New features that fit within the look and feel of Alpha minecraft
• A completely reworked multiplayer that is far more functional and stable
• Performance enhancements and optimizations
• Updates whenever I have free time to work on them (usually in the summer)
All the new features that have been added are too numerous to list here individually, if you want to see what's changed, feel free to look through the per-version patch notes below.
Per-Version Patch notes

Just run the jar as you would an exe. Can only be connected to by another client running NSSS!
Q&A
Q: Right off the bat - Why is this mod so big? Isn't this practically replacing the entire jar? And why are all the names deobfuscated?
A: In the end, we did end up modifying, well, the entire game. Every class file. Though we didn't completely rewrite everything, there was a lot of minute changes (mostly removing dead code in an attempt to optimize the game) that kept spilling over into different class files. Of course, you can't just run the mod without already having a vanilla a1.1.2_01.jar, which means that you can't just use this mod to pirate minecraft. As for the deobfuscation, obfuscating the files resulted in all entities being broken 100% of the time. We can't figure out why at the moment, but it will be fixed someday. For now, every class name reflects what it actually does.
Q: Why did you re-add sponges?
A: Sponges are cool. Really cool. In classic, they were pretty much the only block beside water and lava with any form of functionality, and that functionality, we felt, was still right at home in Alpha 1.1.2_01. Anyone who has tried draining any body of water knows exactly how irritating it is to fill a basic with sand or gravel or dirt and then tediously dig it back out. Sponges make draining water, as well as constructing cool underwater bases, much easier.
Q: Why no server for 1.1.9/1.1.10? And why did it take so long?
A: Part of the reason 1.1.9 took so long aside, from generally being busy, was that the task of rewriting the entire server and protocol was... incredibly daunting. After nearly 10 months of no real progress being made on the server, I gave up and decided to push 1.1.9 as a singleplayer only update. We'll likely end up backporting the 1.7.3 server to NSSS in the near future. Of course, 1.1.9 still remains compatible with the 1.1.8 server. 1.1.10 contains new client-side netcode with no accompanying server that is stable enough to release, therefore the multiplayer option is greyed out entirely.
Known Bugs
Alpha 1.1.3
•Placing a sign on a cactus will crash the game.
•Swords don't break blocks correctly in multiplayer

•Redstone does not update from server to client
•Player has a tendency to randomly die if occupying the same space as another entity in SMP
•Music won't play in SMP
Alpha 1.1.4
•Blocks do not play sounds while being broken in SMP
Alpha 1.1.5
•Loading a world with skeleton arrows on the ground when the skeleton that fired them is dead will crash the game
Alpha 1.1.6
•Pressing shift and f at the same time will cycle to a broken infinite render distance

•Corruption world type does not generate correctly
Alpha 1.1.8
•Other players don't bob in SMP

alexcrish posted a message on The Right Branch of Development. A complete new minecraft experience! 150+ FEATURES, Now with ambient sound loops!Posted in: Minecraft ModsThe Right Branch of Development(Version RC2)
While Mojang releases Mod-like updates, we're developing update-like mods!
Have you felt like Microsoft is leading minecraft the wrong way? Wasn't it supposed to be a simple survival sandbox game rather than an RPG we have today, that just doesn't feel minecrafty? People are complaining about that more and more ever since beta 1.8 came out. Modders like Exalm, the creator of OldDays brought the feeling back to all nostalgia freaks, one of which I am myself, but he went unactive. WIP projects like NostalgiaProject have also failed. Minecraft still doesn't have that unique feeling that only Notch understood. The feeling of a challenge, of something undescovered and new... I don't know.
But I think I have this mod as the final response to your nostalgia! You are the judges.
Don't get me wrong, I do not hate the features that has been added after Notch left Mojang. I find great at least a half of them, but why would they kill what's time-tested?Like the beaches from beta? I decied to bring them back as many people were complaining about their lack. Note that I keep the generator!
Looks perfectly fine to me, even with the scattered noise!
Note that this is a non-forge mod, like any other mod of mine meaning that everything is done in the original minecraft code.So Mojang could've done this easily!
The generator is the same. That means that
the mod combines the best both from old and new versions!
But not just that! We also add some new features that for my opinion should be in the game!Let's move through the features:
Features:
Green appleThe green apple is the mod's icon. This is the first mod feature ever.Players named "alexcrish" drop green apples when killed.
Ambient loopsBack in alpha days Notch planned to add so-called loops which would play in certain environment like singing birds, ocean waves etc. Some of these audio samples could be found in minecraft beta. He renounced this idea later, probably because it would annoy some players. This feature is realized in RBoD RC1 and whenever you need you can adjust the volume of these noises in the sound settings. Here is the vanilla sound list:1.Birds screaming loop. Executes in the jungle biomes in day time.2.Ocean loop. Executes wherever on surface where the water is at least 5 blocks deep.3.Cave chimes. Execute in dark dungeons.
And here is the additional sound list:
1.Night loop. -Cricket noises. Execute wherever on surface near the trees.
2.Frogs croaking loop. Execute in the swamp biomes near the water.
3.Swamp loop. -Birds + frogs. Execute in the swamp biome near the trees.
4.Wind loop. -Executes everywhere above the 128th block under the open sky.
5.Cave loop. -Executes everywhere under the 32th block where blocks can't see the sky.
Here is the video showing the loops in action:
Sand and Gravel Beaches!Taken straight from beta code and imported in 1.7.10!This feature can be downloaded separately for 1.10.
The Green LandsBasically an alpha biome. If you're tired of the boring terrain that always looks the same try finding yourself a place of eden with very green grass everyone was missing back in beta! Note that it replaces to savanna biome. I'm sorry at this point, but I always felt like it's just not minecrafty enough. (Also this means that you can use 1.7.10 savanna seeds if you want to spawn in one of these)
Flooded CavesFlooded caves were a feature in indev. I have created a new block of water that spreads infinitely until it reaches all of the borders. Once it's unable to fill any more space it reverts back to normal water. Using this technique the flooded caves and ravines were created!
Higher Mountains
The mountain biome height is increased by 2!
Morning Fog
Sometimes in the morning you can observe an interesting natural phenomena. The fog is basically minecraft beta on tiny but it comes naturally. Moreover, zombies and skeletons don't burn during the fog, since the sun is invisible.
Isn't it beautiful anyway?
Pigman Villagers
Notch originally wanted to populate the villages with pigmen but instead he decided that caveman squidwards would be a better idea for some reason.
This is probably what we could've get instead of what we have now:
Pigs Eat Everything
This mod makes pigs not only eat but also seek fot certain kinds of blocks. The list of blocks includes all kinds of mushrooms, carrots, potatoes.
The same goes about dropped items.
Cows eat grass
The main purpose of eating grass for cows is restoring their ability to give milk.
Sheep and cows eat leaves
Torches on Slabs
New building possibilities!
Apples, Acorns and Cones
Too many people wanted the apple trees, so why not have them instead of random apple drops from leaves?
Better Pumpkin / Melon Farming
This mod makes cucurbits grow more natural!
Also the stem has a chance to die.
Classic Hoes
Use the hoe to get seeds from grass like in the good old days before beta 1.6.
Get pumpkin seeds using iron hoe and melon seeds using the diamond one! Also the drop ammount increases with the harvest level.
Download this feature for 1.10.
Classic Bows
The bows have 2 modes. The default one is automatic one from minecraft alpha / beta.
Holding down shift however makes it shoot like a normal bow we have today.
Classic Bugs
Minecart boosters and water lifts were fixed in minecraft beta 1.6. This mod has brought back even these features!
1.10 version can be found here
Also check out the old infinite log burning!
"Classic" Pistons
Before pistons were originally based on an early minecraft beta pistons mod, one of the cool features of which was the block/entity launching. Sadly this was never implemented in vanilla. This mod feature will make the game better once again!
Animated Doors/ Trapdoors
Notch originally planned to make the doors have their own closing and opening animations. Back in infdev he even created a texture for the future animated tileentity but for some reason desided to render the doors like a normal block. I've managed to get as close as possible to what was in his mind using the same texture and although it works well as a tileentity, the 2/8 block offset may be the reason he renounced this feature. Otherwise the animation would not be right having a different rotation point at closed and opened position.
Cave Maps
When maps were first added in minecraft back in beta 1.6, Notch said that he had an idea about the cave maps, although this doesn't mean that it was in upcoming features. And the idea is good indeed! However that would make finding caves no longer a challange meaning the maps to be a bit cheaty. My solve to this problem is decreasing the view radius aroung the player and being unnable to draw the map while moving on land above the sea level! Overall it looks as I imagined it back when I didn't know how to do coding. However the cavelayers are inverted meaning a one cave located underneath the over will draw above it. But I hope it's not a big deal since the most precious ores are located in the deepest caves.
Can be found in dungeons only!
Waterfalls
When a stream of water hits static water you can hear an old unused sound of waterfall, which used to be in the game files.
Also it spawns the steam particles!
Fixed Static Liquid Side Texture
The side texture of a static liquid block no longer renders as of a dynamic one.
Chicks
Replace the stupid pygmy baby chickens. They sound like chicks aswell!
Fireflies
Just a simple night ambient addition. They spawn randomly or on player walking through the tall grass.
New Clouds
Twice as big and high. They are rendered in two layers. There is still some work to be done related to them.
Blocks In Water
Mojang never mentioned water rendering on non-opaque blocks, butI think it's something that should've been done a long time ago!
Note Block Pipe Organ Effect
You will need a reed block underneath the note block to make it sound like a pipe organ. The ammount of reed blocks underneath it will determine the note length. Also you can add netherrack instead of reed blocks to make it sound deep.
Mobs No Longer Jump In The Water If They Don't Need To
Randomly Jumping Animals
Just like before the 1.2 update came out they walk around and jump randomly for no reason. This seemed fun!
Better Snow
Once again Mojang, why not?
Gravity affected snow
As featured in pocket edition.
Improved TNT
The TNT has now better physics as shown in the video. Moreover it can be deactivated using shears!
Also since RC1 you can put TNT into furnace and make it pop out of it. This can be useful making the automated mines. Or troll your friends whenever the server is released!
Sponges
In minecraft alpha there was a myth about being able to find a sponge under the sand. This myth comes true now! Plus it has a use.
Classic Lighting
For those who are missing the colorless light!
Of course you could've just use the mcpatcher to change the light the way you want, but I wanted to make myself a challange to change it straight in the code.
I have been struggling for almost a year for this result!
Fast Minecart With Furnace
What was the last time you used a "minecart with furnace"? I don't want it to be forgotten, so I decided to tweak the mechanics. Now you can use different types of fuel to lit it and travel without any golden rails. Although you can use the boosters bug, these are much faster.
Classic Fire
Spreads faster + infinite log burning is back!
Scarecrows
Notch had an idea about adding scarecrows involving them to attract monsters.
But instead we have snowmen...
You better not use it as a decoration on your wheat fields unless you have it inaccessible to monsters, otherwise they will destroy the wheat around the scarecrow!
More Paintings
Created by the same artist.
Bigger Chests
For your aestetic pleasures.
Hibachi
Another thing that just so needs to be in the game. In minecraft indev we used to cook food instantly using fire, and now I present you the hibachi!
Hibachi is a redstone powered block that can turn fire on and off. Using it you can cook like in indev!
The cage can be obtained by mining the mob spawner.
Boiling Water
This is a unique feature with it's own sound offects that makes water located 2 blocks above the source of heat deal damage. Unless the fire comes from the hibachi, mentioned above. It's a little hardcore feature in flooded caves that have lava beneath the obsidian floor. Often only there you are able to find diamonds!
The next features are somewhat hardcore
Have you felt like minecraft now feels to easy? For instance, the diamonds' are no longer that valuable as they used to be before enchanting got introduced into the game. Surviving the night is not always a challange if all the monster just sit in the caves. And remember how uncommon the clay used to be? And mushrooms? These little difficulties truly make the game interesting! I hope you are ready for some challanges that I offer you and experience the game like never before!
Here we go:
Finite Torches
Back in alpha Notch wanted to make torches fade in course of time and replace them with lanterns. But the community didn't like this idea so he had to postpone this feature. I decided to test how it would work out and I'm pretty sure this should've been implemented as it brings more survival challange! Because now you need to find iron and flint besides coal to light your house up.
Do you remember the time animals used to spawn on grass near the torches? As a little buff lanterns have brought that feature back!
3 Times More Monsters
Not much to say about that rather than "now that is achallenge!". At this point you will feel like a noob again.
No peaceful
There is peaceful in the difficulty menu to fix some crashes, but in reality it's easy. I always found peaceful a bit cheaty due to the fact you can remove all the monsters by clicking while being trapped. Just try to never get in a situation like that.
Skeletons Shoot Through Glass Panes
So can the players since RC3.
Beds Don't Reset The Spawn Point
Death must be a punishment. You won't feel the pleasure of the game being indifferent to your life!
No Coordinates on F3
Notch has done a great job on compass and maps, and we never use them because of the coordinate system! This needs to be stopped!
Diamonds in Caves Only
No more tunneling for diamonds! This way the diamonds are valuable again!
Dangerous Creepers
Often creepers swell and cool down instead of exploding. Now they have a 25% chance to explode anyway!
Moreover creeper will increase it's movement speed if it's damaged by the player.
Zombies Feel The Player
Zombies can see through walls meaning that you need to get yourself locked in the house well.
Sometimes they can make a long way though the mineshaft to get you, if the entrance in the mine is located in your house.
Limited Milk
After milking a cow you need to wait a while to do so again.
Less Coal
25% less coal is generated in caves. There's still a lot of it!
No Flint Farming
You can no longer get flint from the gravel you've already mined before.
No Health Regen
Use food to heal yourself instantly.
Download this feature with no hunger for 1.10
Optional Hunger
Hunger originally should have become optional in beta 1.8. This mod enables it on hard difficulty only!
Unstackable Food
You can't just go mining forever having a stack of steaks in the pocket!
Mashed Potatoes
No baked potatoes. Cook mashed potatoes instead!

Minecraft Cocoa is a fork of Minecraft Beta 1.7.3, adding new gameplay elements and quality-of-life features, inspired by Better Than Wolves, Better Than Adventure, Minecraft: The Right Branch Of Development, and other similar mods
Ever since the release of Beta 1.8, the game has changed alot, adding hunger and sprinting, with bosses to beat, much more bloat, many structures, and more grinding implemented into the game. This made the game less sandbox like, and more like a fantasy RPG in a way. Because of this, a community of people have risen that play b1.7.3 or older, as they prefer the simplicity and world generation. I am one of those folk, but i've always felt that b1.7.3 feels incomplete, so i created this mod to fill any gaps that game had, improving features, and adding new content.
Main Features include:
- Functional score
- Improved crafting recipes
- Better mining speeds for more blocks
- Creative Mode + Noclip
- Coral, ported from the newly discovered Beta 1.2_02 (20110517) dev build
- Functional Sponge
- Chain armor accessability with chainlinks, found in dungeons
- Grenades!
- Regrowing sheep fleece by feeding them wheat!
- Ice picks!
- Disarm TNT with shears!
- and many QoL improvements, and other features!

please point out if there are you more that you come across! i dont heavily bugtest this mod, so im sure theres more!
You'll need MultiMC to play this, not sure about other launchers though.
Steps:
1. Add a b1.7.3 instance, you can find b1.7.3 by ticking the Betas box in the Filter section.
2. To the right of MultiMC, there should be a button that says "Edit Instance" and press it.
3. A window will show up, and to the right there is a button that says "Add to Minecraft.jar" and select the minecraft.jar you downloaded.
4. (Optional) Go to settings of that same window, and tick "Java arguments" and add these arguments:
This will give your player the intended skin, aswell as the intended sounds for the game.
5. Run the game and you can play the little mod
This mod will be more game-play and QOL focused, and I want to maintain b1.7.3's simplicity, so there won't be many new building blocks, items or mobs.
This is just a hobby for me, and I'm not super dedicated for this mod, so updates will take some time, and i might stop working on it entirely
Credits to Seka64/Sp4rka for helping out with the more complicated stuff in the mod
I also wouldn't recommend playing b1.7.3 servers on this, im not entirely sure but you could get banned from those servers for playing on a altered client, then again, only purely visual additions remain when playing on servers that run older versions, so i don't know.
