    posted a message on Vanillia Realism [MOD][WIP]

    Mod By Alaskafish

    Development News:
    A Snapshot shall be available quite Soon! I have been over going so many problems since I'm not just adding a new block, but changing how the game process in order to get you the great features. Remember the snapshot will only have things that I officially think are Stable and doesn't create a lot of lag. Some new Ideas have been added. However, I forgot my charger in a hotel, they are sending it to me, and in order to have a download link to the snapshot, I need my computer charger. Please bare with me, and add Ideas, you shall be credited for the ones I choose. [9/9/2012]

    This is still a WIP or a 'Work in Progress". So don't flame, or complain the full version is not out! Currently the mod is about the sky. Sooner or later I will add more realism! Don't suggest if it adds new blocks/items or mobs. Only small aspects that don't change the game completely. [6/7/2012]

    This mod, changes to make minecraft feel like 'Vannilla" or like nothing changed. This is mainly meant to make the game more realistic without adding new items or blocks. For example, it lets clouds have a better feature, special things to happen in biomes. Not to fret, nothing drastic is added, only small things that may allow you to have a little better experience with a more realistic game. The mod is customizable, so you can have certain things install or not. And all of this is client side. So you can use this on any server you go on!

    I am not held responsible to any corrupt worlds, problems, or any liability problems. If a problem occurs to you, make sure to contact me and I'll see if I can fix it for you. This is made by alaskafish and I do not let you redistribute this mod without my permission. Do not change coding and call it your own. I do not own minecraft, Minecraft is owned by Mojang AB. This mod is used for private use only. Thank you for choosing Vannilla Realism.

    This is a Picture of The two layer clouds! This is for the Different types of clouds.
    This is the Desert Heat and Desert Blinding. Notice the sides are a little hazy. Is the heat too weird?
    I'm trying to work on focal lens glares. Really hard. If you look into the sun you get something like this:

    Red = Haven't started
    Yellow = Working on it
    Green = Finished
    Black = Ideas
    Blue = Paused In Coding
    Purple = In Snapshop
    Cyan = Missing Texture/Models. Fixing
    Grey = Dropped Ideas.
    Italic Neon Green = New Idea(s)

    • Clouds are not just one simple cloud type. Different types of clouds such as, Stratus (Long flat clouds), Cumulus (Short but puffy clouds), Cirrocumulus (Broken clouds), Cirrus (high, and stretched out clouds) , and Overcast like Cumulonimbus (Thunder like clouds) [Working on]
    • Colored Clouds! When it rains, clouds are grey. When there's a thunderstorm, clouds are black [Haven't Started]
    • Double layer clouds (For different types) [Finished]
    • Clouds cast a some what type of shadow. [Finished]
    • Clouds look nicer [Finished]
    • No clouds over deserts, and very little over tundras, [Finished][Working on] (Tundras)
    • Different rain sounds. [Finished]
    • Dynamic Clouds [Haven't Started]
    • Blowing Leaves [Working On]
    • Stars flicker (After the 1.3 update when stars are smaller) [Haven't Started]
    • Stars are different colors (very few. Some red, and some faint yellow) [Working on]
    • Moon gives a gloomier glow. [Finished]
    • Moon's light depending on what moon it is (New moon, full moon etc) [Haven't Started]
    • Shooting stars. [Haven't Started]
    • Heat Blinding, If your in the desert for too long, your vision gets disrupted (FYI, This idea was based nikooo26 "clean weather") [Paused]
    • Snow Blinding, Like heat blinding, but when your in a tundra for too long the screen gets really bright. (True fact in real life) [Haven't Started]
    • Rain texture changes for different types of rain (EG: heavier, lighter, drizzle, flake snow Etc) [Fixing]
    • Focal Lens blur [Paused]
    • Warmer Torches (Redish to yellow) [Working on]
    • Desert Warmth [Paused]
    • Lava Coloring [Haven't Started]
    • Biome Torches (Colors depend on what biome you are in) [Haven't Started]
    • Gloomier - Warmth Coloring [Haven't Started]
    This is so far my plan. In fact, I've started working on this mod. Sorry for the color coding... You know.. sometimes your just too lazy. Anyway, this mod will be showing snipbits of it, and you may try it out for your self. Please post suggestions, but they better not add any items/blocks/mobs. If anything it may be death animations, but right now I'm going to focus on weather. Then I will focus on more realism. Don't flame. And I will update this mod regularly. Please feel free to follow this! This topic will be edited many time to improve looks and over all performance. If you wish to work with me, great. I'f your good with coding too, I'll like that!

    Silly, no snapshot available yet! Follow to get the most features!
    Snapshot will be available quite soon. However I forgot my charger at a hotel, and it's being sent over. So I can't really give it out. Will only have the 'Stable' parts of the mod.

    Don't forget to like this so people can see!
    I'd like this to be the "OFFICIAL" thread.
    Here are some mods I've found that don't change the game drastically;

    Matmos
    Created by Hurricaaane
    A very nice mod. It adds realistic sounds to the game depending at your current value. If your high up, we may here howling winds or if your near an ocean you may here waves and seagulls. This adds no new blocks or items. In fact it doesn't replace any items in the Minecraft.jar... Also works on any server you join!

    Inventory Tweak
    Created by jimeowan
    This makes your inventory much, much more easier to use. With a click of a button, ('R') it sorts out your inventory and chests. When your tool runs out, it will change it with another one with a single click with a button. This may also work on any multiplayer server you join! It might even give you an advantage. :ph34r:

    Optifine
    Created by sp614x
    This mods helps you out when you have lag. Or if you have a slow computer. Where as I don't, I just like all the stuff that comes with it. You can have a linear or rough blur to things far, clear water, connected textures, better grass, and a lot more. This also helps out with your slow or bad graphic card computers!

    Zombie Dismemberment
    Created by ichun
    Really nice mod for fun but also realism, or not. This mod makes that, when you kill a zombie, they break apart or 'blow up'. This is ragdoll physics, so they don't die the same every time. Always different. For you blood lovers... It now has blood features. Only on flesh based mobs such as Zombies. Skeletons and creepers "break" and some new features! Worth to take a look at.

    GROOVE Mod
    Created by KodaichiZero
    Well, not really a mod that makes minecraft "realistic" but it doesn't add anything into and wont destroy your saves. It makes mobs, and people dance. Yes, dance. There are different types of dances, and I guess it can be good for Movies and stuff if you want people dancing. Doesn't replace stuff, but adds animations.

    Smart Moving
    Created by Divisor
    This doesn't add anything but some great moves and animations. Not only does it add new (E.G.) Swimming animations and flying/falling, but it lets you crawl through tight spaces, or climb blocks that are more than one block tall. It can work on some multiplayer servers and you can sprint faster/jump higher if server is not a bukkit server. However some animations and controls can be very buggy for special maps or obsticals. By this I mean that if your trying to swim up a waterfall you might have to try a few times to get up since of the controls.

    Thebombzen's Mods
    Created by Thebombzen
    A very interesting mod. It really helps newer players or people who really get confused when playing. This mod will automatically switch to the specific tool in hand. By this, I mean, If your mining some stone, and some dirt gets in your way, if you have a shovel it will automaticaly switch to it. This works as well when fighting mobs. This can also be a very good "hack" or give you somewhat of an advantage on SMP, since you can always be ready so you don't use your diamond pickaxe on a player trying to kill you. It also comes with MobAura that automaticly switches to your weapon if a mob is near by. This nice things about this mod, is that it can be turned off and turned on in-game without having to mess with anything in the "Jar" files. I personally don't use this. Don't ask me why...

    ScrollableControls
    Created by North101
    A very "Nifty Fifty" Mod. If you have a lot of mods that add new controls to the game, but you can't read or configure them since they roll off the page or you just can't simply see them, this simply lets you scroll and see them more easily. I can't really say anything but it's a mod that you install when your installing more than one mod. Nothing to get to excited about.

    2-D Craft Mod
    Created by LetsReadThisBook
    This cool mod makes your minecraft like the game "Terraria". It's a world option you get when starting a new game. It goes well with the Minecraft Terraria Texture pack. It's just a world option, it wont screw your saves and it just is something cool to have in your game.

    Timber Mod
    Created by TehKrush
    Don't you just hate it when you're cutting down a HUGE tree and you have to pillar up to get the hidden wood in the leaves, well this is most likely the mod for you. When you cut the base of the tree all the logs fall down. Less uses with your axe! Nothing new, but, It's good for people who hate having to cut trees down.

    In-Game Info
    Created by DaftPVF
    It's simply a good mod to keep track of everything. Works on multiplayer too! Simply it tells you your current light level, time of day, XP, and more. This is really helpful when your trying to figure out what day it is, or where mobs can spawn.

    Rei's Minimap
    Created by ReiFNSK
    Probably the best Mini-map mod out there. Completely customizable without having to go and use the config menu. Just with the click of a button. Set waypoints, find caves and heat levels. Find mobs or see chunks. Works on multiplayer too! I generally have it off when I'm on a SSP, since it's Vannila, but, on SMP... Gives you an advantage too...

    Superfalt ++
    Created by Glought
    When building in superflat you might have come across this problem:
    There's only three blocks deep. This sucks if your trying to hide redstone or building some sort of bunker/basement. Or maybe you wish the ground was made of sandstone for you redstone lovers! Well this is simply a user friendly way to change what superflat is made of and hight. Kinda of what they have added into 1.4, but more user friendly.

    Sound Pack
    Created By Xamio
    Tired of the minecraft sounds. Or are you a person who really likes the old minecraft sounds. Maybe you like Zelda or Skyrim Music. This mod is great! It is a simple to install mod that adds a button (Just like the texture pack button) but for sounds. Want some Oblivion Sounds/Music, just click and you got it! Want to hear the good 'ol retro minecraft sounds, you got it! I use this because sometimes I get bored of the minecraft sounds, or when I film a movie. Another thing great about it, it's very user friendly! You don't have to go into the .minecraft folder and replace/delete files, and when you want the original sounds, you have to reinstall all the minecraft again!

    That's all I use. Feel free to add your own mods like these. They must, however, be updated to the most recent version of Minecraft, or at least is a mod that is updated regularly, (nothing from 1.4 or like that) (8/10/2012 = 1.3.1)

    posted a message on Official "Mods-That-Don't-Change-The-Game" Thread
    Alright. This is the Official topic for Mods that don't add new blocks or items, or anything to be in fact. A lot of people really like vinnilla but then like realism, like me. I like minecraft to be as if it was a real survival game, and also minecraft its self. Most mods are popular and add a lot of content to the game such as new ores, weapons, or even planes which is fun for some time, but then get's boring. I have a world just for my vinnilla world. I wish it was realistic, in fact, I made my own texture pack than made the game (still 16x16 bit) more realistic!
    So Add your mods that don't add anything into the game. If you are confused read the example: Some mods add Biome water, and sand, and stone (but not updated to minecraft most resent version). Or lets you sit in chairs by right clicking them (no new block).
    After we get lots and lots of comments of the mods that don't really change your game, I'll create a mod pack, and put all your names (and the owners) for the makers. Sorry, I mainly will give credit to the mod makers, but then you and me will go.

    Please stay on topic, it's fine about discussion, but try not flame about why some mods are better than others.

    Add your list. If I think it is worthy on being on this list, I'll add it! Thank you for your contribution.

    posted a message on Snapshot 12w23b Ready For Testing
    Great! Only one problem. Have they over done everything? I feel like they removed something from minecraft. Could it be that trip wire's and hooks are 64 bit instead of 16 bit? Or maybe the incredibly easy way of enchanting. Or could it be that you get XP from smelting or mining. I honestly think, they're changing the game a bit too much. For example, the enchanting thing: If you going to lower the XP limit, don't add XP drops when mining or smelting. Or if you keep XP at 50, you can add that.

    Don't say that I'm raging. I just feel that they are changing too much that don't fit minecraft, or ruin game play. Trading, you can get the chain mail and potions of enchanting, but I think they added too much things that ruin minecraft game play.

    posted a message on Why I love Minecraft music.
    I like the music. I'm glad they didn't add rock-n-roll or even jazz. The Music they have now is relaxing. It makes me feel very lonely. It reminds me of the calm ocean and the crystal lake shining with the sunset. Only thing I do not like about it is that it is very random. Now many can agree with this. It plays when ever. So I'll be in a cave with no torches, with 3 creepers about to explode and I'm drowning in lava and it will start to play. That scenario is not (and never will be) relaxing. I do REALLY hate it when it plays in the nether. I have no idea why I hate it, but it just doesn't seem so nice. The Nether is the Minecraft Hell... Why would there be Harps, and Violins playing beautiful solos and songs. I think Minecraft should keep the songs and probably add a few new ones. I would also like if they add those incredible loops. If you do not know what a loop is: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Loops
    That should be Notches and Jebs main thing they should be doing. I would love to walk near an ocean and hear the waves crashing on my feet, or the birds chirping in the near by forest. They should also create a Nether song. So a scary song that would only be played in the nether. Other wise, I just love the Minecraft Music :Pig:
