GhostCraft: The Grand Opening
While GhostCraft has remained opened for a few months up to this point this is officially the week of its grand opening! As such, several prizes, in the form of Steam games, will be given away over the period of the week from 08/29/2011 - 09/04/2011.
Currently there are a couple of copies of Terraria, and a few copies of Steel Storm: Burning Retribution up for grabs. This topic will be updated as new prizes are added.
In order to be eligible for any of the prizes you must have logged into the GhostCraft server at least once during the give-away period, and be in good standing on the server; you must make a reply to this topic, and provide your In Game Name in your reply; you must be in good standing on the Minecraft Forums; you must have an active Steam account that is also in good-standing.
The winners of the prizes will be determined at random using the services provided by random.org. All winners will be contacted through the Minecraft Forums private system. If the winner hasn't responded after twenty-four hours then the prize will be randomly awarded to another player, and so forth. Players are only eligible to win one prize. If the winning player has already won a previous prize the the prize will be randomly awarded to another player, and so forth.
Very strange. I have no idea what could cause that. Does it always happen for you, or only with this particular map? Would you mind sending me this map so I can try to reproduce the problem?
Sure, I'll upload the world and provide you with the link later tonight. It would be good to note that I used Formivore's City & Wall generator when creating my world. Also, when modifying the world I removed the read-only markers to modify the structures with the land.
I've not had this occur on any of the smaller maps I've worked with prior to working on the large map.
Minecraft does not say "saving chunks" when you load a map, so you'll have to be a bit more specific. When does it hang, exactly? Is it when you die? If so, is your spawn point below 63?
Actually, I'll second this. Over the last few days I've been working on a 4208 x 4208 block map. I generated the land in Minecraft, imported the map to WorldPainter, made changes, and merged the map. Upon loading the map in SSP the client begins Bulding terrain, then goes to Saving Chunks, and then a black screen.

We've always wanted the server to be as close to vanilla as possible, however we were not able to entirely do this before. All protection on the server has been disabled as of November 24th; this means that TNT, Lava, and Fire are all functioning and very dangerous. Now, this would be crazy to do without some sort of protection and the idea of making the server whitelist only has always left a bad taste in my mouth. Instead of a white list system the server uses a build list; this means that you are able to join, but you cannot build until promoted.
The current map was created on November 24th 2010 in response to the patches that occurred. This map will be the permanent map until it is deemed that it would be in the best interest of the server to wipe the map.
The Nether: Currently we have the Nether on the server in a limited fashion. It is only accessible via warp as we wait for it to be properly implemented.
Addons and Plugins:
While the server's goal is to remain as vanilla as possible there are a number of plugins set up on the server to help insure that players have as much fun as possible.
hMod Server mod: It makes it all easy.
BorderLands: The boundary around the spawn is currently set to 2000.
