Never an excuse.
I never said you did. That was an example.
Macs are overhyped, and only look nice and aesthetically pleasing. It's outdated hardware at a ridiculous price. Saying you're sticking with it because of familiarity is just another excuse to never branch out. It's like an alcoholic who decides to keep drinking because "Its all I've ever known."
Sounds like you haven't used much of anything aside from OSX, or earlier versions of the mac OS, for a long enough time to tell. It's still an excuse to not branch out and learn new things.
It does actually mean they're wrong, because beyond aesthetics and basic functionality, there is in fact objective ways to measure exactly why you're wrong, how much you're wrong, and in what ways, you're wrong. Bringing up fanboyism shows just how much of a fanboy you are yourself. Opinions need basis.
You should. That's where most people arguing Apple products are superior belong.
Can we stop, he already has the Mac, so theres nothing you can do to change that now,
and arguing about it won't help.

Mar 4, 2011Vechs posted a message on [CTM][Collection] Vechs' SUPER HOSTILE Series (Spellbound Caves II out now!)Posted in: Maps..
Hi guys, Vechs here! I started making custom stuff for Minecraft back in 2010, and the Super Hostile series is my best-known contribution to Minecraft fans everywhere!
The main objective of my maps (aka custom Minecraft worlds) is to find and complete the Victory Monument. This is a structure with slots on it for blocks. To win a Super Hostile map, you must place each of the requested blocks in the appropriate slot on the Victory Monument. There are 16 colors of wool blocks to find, and also in older maps, the 3 material blocks, of iron, gold, and diamond.
CTM stands for Complete the Monument, which is the genre my Super Hostile series created. Unlike Adventure maps, which typically have very rigid rules and restrictions, CTM maps are about playing Minecraft in a mostly normal fashion, but with a goal to work towards.
For the most part, Super Hostile is like playing Minecraft normally, but it's more difficult and you have a long-term goal to work towards. Also you may find yourself in some unusual terrain. Oh, and the map is designed to kill you, so keep that in mind.
Going forward, Super Hostile maps made after 2020 now also require a custom modpack, which can be found here:
Currently Under Construction:
Super Hostile: Vexelvania (working title)
Super Hostile: Spellbound Caves II
The new official home of Super Hostile is here! Download the maps at:
And lastly, here is a bunch of legal stuff. The short version is: feel free to make videos about my maps, watching people play helps me make better maps; please don't rip-off my work and claim it as your own; and please don't upload my work to other websites.
Users are free (and encouraged) to create videos of the MAPS and share the videos online, using websites such as YouTube. Users are also free to include advertisements and monetize their videos of my maps. Watching people play my maps is by far the best way for me to learn how to make better maps. If you have made video's or LP's (Let's Play series) of my maps, then thank you very much!

Big thanks to q3hardcore for many of the new features
/killall and /butcher now work
Compatability with Mod Loader, PlayerAPI and Forge
The current SPC installer is broken, a new one is being worked on which will be out in a few weeks (hopefully)
New installation instructions, below.
Many other things
How to install (Minecraft 1.6.2)
1. Close Minecraft launcher (if open)
2. Navigate to where minecraft is installed (eg: on Windows %appdata%/.minecraft)
3. Go to versions and copy the 1.6.2 directory and name it something else (eg: 1.6.2.mods). Alternatively, if you have done this for another mod already backup the Minecraft JAR.
4. Open the jar file (using an archive utility, such as 7zip) in the mod directory you created (eg: 1.6.2.jar) and copy all of the files into it except for WorldEdit.jar
5. Delete the files in the META-INF directory except for MANIFEST.MF
6. Close the jar file
7. Copy WorldEdit.jar into .minecraft/bin
8. Rename the jar file to the same name as the directory (eg: 1.6.2.mods.jar)
9. Rename the json file to the same name as the directory (eg: 1.6.2.mods.json)
10. Open the json file in a text editor and the line that contains the id (eg: "id": "1.6.2") change it to the same name as the directory (eg: "id": "1.6.2.mods")
11. Save and close the json file.
12. Start up the Minecraft launcher
13. Create a new profile
14. Select the version that you just created (eg: 1.6.2.mods)
15. Select the rest of your settings.
16. Launch the game.
Note: Using a 3rd party launcher such as Magic Launcher may save you a lot of time in managing mods.
Code is open source at: https://github.com/simo415/spc

Apr 1, 2012kamyu posted a message on Custom Spawner + Custom Shop + Populate Chests + Anvil Light fixer and morePosted in: Minecraft Tools
NOTE: Fully close Minecraft before running any of these tools.
Custom Spawner is a tool that creates mob spawner schematics with customized mob attributes and effects.
Custom Spawner v0.5.0 (post-minecraft 1.4.6) download - win32
Custom Spawner v0.4.4 (pre-minecraft 1.4.6) download - win32
Added tag PortalCooldown - number of ticks before the entity can transport through a portal again.
Added support for 1.4.6 multi-entity spawners. (Note that they currently function as described in my above post and this error report.)
Select your entity Id and tags like usual. Enter a number for the Weight (chance to spawn). Click the "Add Entity" button. Repeat for as many different entities you want in the spawn list.
Select an entity in the list and click "Remove Entity" to remove it or click "Remove All" to reset the list.
Clicking on one of the entities in the list will reset all of the displayed tags to that entity's tags.
Loading a post-1.4.6 schematic will fully load and populate the spawn list and select/display the tags for the first entity in the list.
Loading a pre-1.4.6 schematic will set all the current tags as before, but will not automatically add it to the spawn list.
Firework entities currently do not save any unique tags and are essentially non-functional from spawners.
New tag (minecraft 1.4.3+):
- ownerName - The name of the player this ender pearl will teleport upon impact.
Click the "load schematic" button. Browse to and select a schematic file. It will fill the appropriate tag fields and check the appropriate check boxes (and uncheck all other check boxes).
Added a few more tags that I missed:
- Invulnerable - 1 or 0 (true/false) - true if the mob should not take damage.
- PlayerCreated - 1 or 0 (true/false) - true if this golem was created by a player.
- HurtEntities - 1 or 0 (true/false) - true if the block should hurt entities it falls on.
- FallHurtMax - The maximum number of hitpoints of damage to inflict on entities that intersect this FallingSand. Anvils default to 20 (10 hearts).
- FallHurtAmount - Multiplied by the FallDistance to calculate the amount of damage to inflict.
- Ambient - 1 or 0 (true/false) - true if this effect is provided by a Beacon and therefore should be less intrusive on screen.
The three fall damage related tags are for FallingSand spawners so you can make the spawned entities do damage like anvils.
Ambient only works on active effects (mob potion effects section) and seems to only work if ALL active effects are set as ambient (which is probably why people with beacons don't always get the intended reduced particle swirls).
fixed cat type tag
Fixed mob equip drop chances. Armor chances were being added in reverse order.
- Spawn Range - distance from spawner that mobs can try to spawn.
- Persistence req - when set to 1 (true), the mobs from the spawner will not despawn (similar to normal passive animals)
- creeper fuse - time they hiss before exploding
- creeper exp radius - size of the explosion
- item name - name displayed for the item. leave blank for no name in mob equip.
- item lore - lore displayed on the item. use /n between lines. ex: Line 1/nLine 2/nLine 3. leave blank for no lore in mob equip
- item color - color code for leather armor. The game uses decimal versions of RGB color codes. So from black = 0 (0 * 65536 + 0 * 256 + 0) to white = 16777215 (255 * 65536 + 255 * 256 + 255). put any negative number for no color in mob equip.
- skull owner - name of the player whose skin will show on the skull/head item when placed or worn. leave blank for no skull owner in mob equip.
Added MaxNearbyEntities and RequiredPlayerRange tags. You seem to need both for them to work properly.
Added multi-effect potion stuff for ThrownPotion spawners. Also for Item spawners that are making potions (you have to set the normal Item tags as well as the potion effects).
Revamped UI (tabbed windows so it has better organization and doesn't fill the entire screen).
Added some more 1.4 tags
- SkeletonType - 0 or 1 for normal skeleton or wither skeleton
- Invul - Timer for the wither's invulnerable stage when first made (didn't actually work through spawners last I tried)
- BatFlags - Apparently determines if the bat is sleeping (hanging upside down) or not
- CanPickUpLoot - Determines if the mob can pick up loot from the ground
- Dimension - 0, 1 or -1 for overworld, end or nether. (Not sure if it actually does anything yet since mobs are already saved in different region files based on dimension anyway)
- equipment drop chances - 0.0 to 1.0 for the chance the item in that equipment slot will drop
- DropItem - For fallingsand. Determines if it will drop a lootable item if the block breaks instead of landing.
- Wither potion effect
- Instant health and damage potion effects (effect goes off every tick if given a duration)
- DeathTime - Something to do with death animations
- direction data - Identical to motion data. Used by Fireball, SmallFireball and WitherSkull (they seem to need both motion and direction even though they are identical).
Added mob equipment (to the right of potions, you likely have to scroll the window)
Added new zombie tags (IsBaby, IsVillager, ConversionTime)
Fix for Fireball and SmallFireball motion. These two entities have a redundant "direction" tag that is identical to their "Motion" tag, but they apparently need both to actually move.
If you give motion data to either of those entities then the tool will now automatically create the direction tag as well with the identical data.
Added a bunch of new tags for item and projectile data and such.
Falling sand spawners seem to require all of the tags in their section to function properly. Tile is the block id.
Projectiles might also require all or most of their tags. I didn't test these as extensively.
Items obviously require an id. If you don't give a stack count then it will spawn "fake" items that disappear on use. Enchants are done the same way as in Populate Chests with enchant id and level pairs separated just by spaces.
Added position and motion data
Keep in mind that the position data are the actual map coordinates where the mobs will spawn. So be sure to enter values that are actually near where you intend to place the spawner.
Use small numbers for the motion data.
Added scroll bars.
Run "Custom Spawner.exe"
Choose mob type from drop down menu.
Modify whatever attributes you like (check the boxes next to the things you want to save in the schematic).
Enter a file name for you schematic.
Click "Create Spawner"
Your schematic will be saved in the schematics folder.
If you want to try other mobs/entities that aren't in the list then you can edit "MobList.txt"
Note: some of the available effects might not actually do anything yet or otherwise don't work on some/all mobs.
Splash Potion damage values
Custom Shop is a tool that will create a schematic of a villager with customized shop options.
Custom Shop v0.1.2 download -win32
Select a profession from the drop down menu.
Riches seems to be a count of all trades. Not sure if it has any real function at the moment.
Max uses is the amount of times you can make that trade before it gets locked out.
Current uses is the number of times the trade has been used so far.
Buy A and Buy B are the items the villager wants and Sell is the item he will give you.
Buy A and Sell are mandatory. Buy B is optional (click the check box if you want it).
Enchants on the sell item must come in pairs of numbers (enchant ID and enchant level) separated by spaces. Leave it blank if you don't want enchants.
Enter an item name if desired or leave it blank.
Enter lore as desired. You can add and remove from the list or clear the list entirely.
When all of that data is set how you want it, click add offer. You can add and remove offers from the list as desired or reset the list entirely.
When you have all your offers made, enter a file name and click create shop schematic.
It will be saved in the schematics folder next to the executable.
Note: Villagers currently ignore damage, enchants, etc. on items they want to buy so I excluded most of those options. Example: You could set the villager to want a specific colored wool with an enchant and he would still accept any color wool.
Potion Chest is a tool that creates a schematic of a chest with customized potions in it.
Potion Chest v0.2 download - win32
Effect ID is the potion effect id.
Effect level is the strength of the potion effect (in game rank 1 = 0).
Effect duration is the duration of the effect in ticks.
Add whatever combination of effects you want to the list. You can select items from the list and click the remove button if you want to remove one.
Potion color is controlled by the normal damage values of the potions. You can select a color from the preset list or select 'custom value' and enter your own damage value.
Add potions to (or remove them from) the list as you like by clicking the appropriate buttons.
When you are done, enter a file name and click the create schematic button. It will be placed in the schematic folder next to the executable.
Warning: Invalid damage values will crash the game when opening the chest.
Populate Chests is a tool that will scan a world for empty chests and populate them with random loot.
Populate Chests v0.4.1 download -win32
run 'Populate Chests.exe'
click 'Select World' and choose your world folder
click 'Select Random Items File' and select your text file with your random item data (format:: ItemId DamageValue StackSize %chance [s:slot][enchantID enchantLevel]..).
Lines with a # are ignored.
StackSize can optionally be a range to give a random amount of the item. For example, a StackSize of 5-30 (no spaces) will create that item with anywhere from 5 to 30 items in the stack.
#For example, the next line gives a 50% chance of adding a stack of 5 boats. 333 0 5 50 #This line gives a 100% chance for a stack of 1 to 10 Diamond Chestplates. 311 0 1-10 100 #This line gives a 100% chance for an iron sword with sharpness 5, Knockback 4 and Looting 2 267 0 1 100 16 5 19 4 21 2 #This line gives a 100% chance for a stack of 11 stone to be placed in slot 25 1 0 11 100 s:25
optionally enter the coordinate range that you want to search for chests (all zeroes will check the entire map)
click 'Populate Chests' and wait until it finishes.
Populate Chests v0.3.3 download- win32
v0.3.3 - %chance now supports floats.
v0.3.2 - adds support for random StackSize ranges
v0.3.1 - adds support for minecart chests.
Edit 'RandomItems.txt' for whatever items you want (format:: ItemId DamageValue StackSize %chance [enchantID enchantLevel]..).
311 0 1-10 100 #This line gives a 100% chance for an iron sword with sharpness 5, Knockback 4 and Looting 2 267 0 1 100 16 5 19 4 21 2
Run 'Populate Chests.exe'
A dialog will pop up for you to select a world folder (it tries to start you at the default minecraft/saves folder).
Wait for it to step through all your region files (overworld, nether, and end) looking for empty chests.
Enchantment data must come in pairs (id and level) or the item will fail to become enchanted. Enhantment IDs can be found here.
For items with durability (tools, armor, etc.):
damage 0 = normal new item.
damage 1 = it has been used/damaged once
damage 100 = it has been used/damage 100 times
Putting in a number higher than the item's normal use limit results it it breaking on one use.
Putting in a negative number results in an "overcharged" item that has that many extra uses compared to normal.
Backup your map just in case. It is working fine for me, but there may be situations I didn't account for.
If you put bad item data in the text file then weird/bad things may happen (stack size and %chance should adjust for bad numbers) .
Double chests are treated as two separate chests in the save files. As such, if either half (top/bottom) is empty then that half will get populated.
Uninitialized chests will not be populated. E.g., placing a chest block in mcedit and never doing anything with it results in an uninitialized chest. Simply loading the map in Minecraft will initialize any uninitialized chests in loaded chunks.
Light fixer is a tool that can fix the lighting issues caused by converting a map with blocks in layer 127 to anvil.
Light fixer v0.1 download- win32
Basically, I figured out exactly how the anvil conversion breaks maps and this little program fixes them.
Take your world and load it up in Minecraft so it converts to anvil.
Immediately save and exit and close Minecraft (if you walk around then the bad light data can propagate to the blocks and I can't fix that).
Run "Light fixer.exe", pick your world and let it do its work.
It is really a simple fix once you realize what the conversion broke and where to look.
It is all the height map. The height map tells Minecraft how far down the sunlight goes unobstructed (so one higher than the highest opaque block). Pre-anvil, it is stored in a byte array. Converting a map with blocks in layer 127 causes an overflow which rolls the heightmap value to -128.
My little program finds all those -128's and turns them into the +128's that they should be.
As always, backup your map just in case.
This is meant for worlds freshly converted to anvil. If you already played for a while after converting to anvil then it is very likely that bad light data already propagated to other parts of the save file and this doesn't fix that.
Do not attempt to run this before converting the map to anvil. Bad things will probably happen.
There is another anvil light bug with similar side effects. This program can't fix that bug, but last_username has now released a mod that can.
Randomize Spawners is a tool that will scan a world for all monster spawners and change it to another random spawner type as defined in "RandomSpawners.txt"
Randomize Spawners v0.2 gui download- win32
run Randomize Spawners.exe
click 'Select World' and choose your world folder.
click 'Select Random File' and choose your text file with your random values (format: %chance, entityName)
#example 20% chance creeper and 50% chance cave spider. 20 Creeper 50 CaveSpider
enter the coordinate range that you want to randomize (or leave all as 0 to do the entire map)
click 'Randomize Spawners' and wait for it to finish.
Randomize Spawners v0.1 download- win32
Edit "RandomSpawners.txt" to your desired percent chances.
Run "Randomize Spawners.exe"
This file results in a 15% chance each for Creeper, Skeleton, Zombie, Spider, Cave Spider and Enderman and a 5% chance each for Ghast and Blaze.
#Put your desired percents in the lines after their given labels #If the total percents is less than 100, then the remaining chance will be for the spawner to stay as it is #If the total percents is more than 100, then the spawner types later in the list will never be chosen #Creeper 15 #Skeleton 15 #Zombie 15 #Spider 15 #CaveSpider 15 #Enderman 15 #Ghast 5 #Blaze 5 #Silverfish 0 ################# #PigZombie 0 #LavaSlime 0 ################# #Slime 0 ################# #Pig 0 #Sheep 0 #Cow 0 #Chicken 0 #Squid 0 #Wolf 0 #Villager 0 #Giant 0 #Monster 0
Select your world's folder and let it do its work.
Note: Uninitialized spawners will not be randomized. E.g., placing a spawner in mcedit and never assigning a mob type will result in an uninitialized spawner. Simply loading the map in Minecraft will initialize any uninitialized spawners in loaded chunks as pig spawners.
Edit Signs is a tool that scans your world for signs and opens them for editing in a simple gui.
Edit Signs v0.2 download - win32
Run 'Edit Signs.exe'.
Click 'OPEN WORLD'.
Select your world's folder.
Wait for it to finish searching for signs.
Edit the text lines for signs as desired. (Use the dropdown menu to select pages if you have over 100 signs.)
Click 'SAVE SIGNS'.
Wait for it to finish saving.
Repeat as desired.
Format codes placed before text should work:
§0 through §f -colors
Backup your map just in case.
Entering text that Minecraft does not support will likely cause Minecraft to discard/regenerate that chunk the next time you load the map in game.
The program tries to enforce the 15 characters per line limit, but a 16th character can often stick around anyway. Minecraft will truncate the line (remove the 16th character) the next time you load the map in game.
Add Ladders is a tool that will find any empty (all air) chunk sections that have existing sections above them and add an invisible floating ladder in the middle of them. This is intended to help remove another anvil light bug without requiring the player to use a mod.
Add Ladders 0.1 download- win32
Run Add Ladders.exe.
Select your map's world folder and wait for it to finish processing the map.
Use MCEdit to relight the map (or at least the updated chunks with new ladders).
Create Players is a tool to create many player.dat files with random starting positions.
Create Players v0.1 download - win32
Enter the X and Z coordinate ranges that you want the players to randomly start in.
Click 'Select World' and select your world's folder.
Enter the names of the players you want to create files for.
You can remove names from the list by selecting the name in the list and clicking 'Remove player from list'
When all of your players are in the list, click 'Create player.dat files'
The files are put in the same folder as Players.exe.
Copy/move the player.dat files to your server world's players folder.
The sea level field should be left alone most of the time.
This program uses your world's heightmap to give the players their Y coordinates. If the chunk a player got put in doesn't exist, then that player's Y defaults to sea level.
I only tested this on a vanilla server.
If your world's heightmap has bad data then player starting heights will also be bad.
It doesn't check the block you are spawning above so you might spawn in a lake if there is one within your coordinate range (or if you are extremely unlucky, in a surface lava pool).

May 9, 2011MCFUser92558 posted a message on [1.7.3] PhoenixTerrainMod (New status update 11/03/12)Hello everyone.Posted in: Minecraft Mods
I'm back, and itching to code. I had a rough last year and a half, but lately have been looking for a new project to pick up now that my father has gotten the BEATEN CANCER achievement! Woo! Let's all celebrate with something new, shall we?
PhoenixTerrainMod is dead. I want to start a ground up rewrite however. It will focus on performance and documentation so good that new guys can actually use the plugin without a college degree in computer science. It's going to start slow (the first build will only control ore), but it's going to be VERY fun, I can promise that. The first build will most likely come a few weeks from now, and will only control ore. But things will be added with time.
It will support Spout/Vanilla primarily (a ground up rewrite of the minecraft client and server designed to be fast and FREE!), with generic SSP/SMP builds a secondary goal and Minecraft workbench (the official mod api) a possibility. I will be avoiding Spout Legacy for the simple reason that it's dying.
For now, there is only a spout forum thread. I will soon have a website. Bookmark this thread for now:
The new mod will be called simply APEX. APEX stands for Advanced Programable Environment for Xeriscaping:
Xeriscape is an awesome word, you should look it up:
It basically means landscaping, only trying to be really efficient with water usage. Which makes sense, since this ground-up-rewrite aims to be really efficient with your computers horsepower. Just go with it!
Original post on the death of the old PTM:
I have bad news. We had a death in my family. I was on a trip attending the funeral. (It must be said, this is not my father, it was my grandmother and was very unexpected. More on my father below).
During the funeral, my friend decided to try to rebuild the linux distro on the server and hosed it by formatting a new file system (ext4) over my old one (JFS). I don't know why he did this, but it's ok as I know at least some people have checked out the source code and the wiki and site have backups.
The bad news is I've come to a sort of revelation in my life with my grandmothers funeral. I don't really have time for this mod in the moment. That's not to say I will never pick it up again, but I have to put it on hiatus for now. As such, I'm officially "deprecating" PTM. There is no way with the amount of time I have now I could make a 1.8 release anyways.
There will be one more release this week (now out as of this writing) which is a consolidation of all current bugfixes, and it will include source code for people to fork. I won't be restoring the website but I will keep this thread for resurrections and interesting projects. If anyone is interested in taking this over please contact me.
I'm very sorry for this, I really wanted to see this through but my life is turned upside down right now. Thanks folks, it's been a hell of a ride.
The final releases are done. Here they are, they include source code and BOBs.
Also Khorn made a Bukkit Plugin here, so maybe not all is lost.
More forks here, compatible with Cubic mod:
EDIT: How we doing guys? Please see here for updates now!
Aug 2, 2012googie2149 posted a message on [1.3.1] List of mods that have updated to 1.3.1 [Optifine!] [ModLoader!]When Minecraft updates, all the mods for the old version become outdated (duh). Besides being unable to use these mods, it's incredibly hard to find mods that have updated due to all the morons spamming "uPdAtE kThXbAi." So, to make it easier on everyone, I've created a list of mods that have updated. If I missed one, or if I miss one that updates while I'm playing with the mods I've found, please post it here.Posted in: Mods Discussion
Note: I did not make any of these mods, nor am I giving direct links to downloads. I am only providing links to threads of mods that have updated to 1.3.1.

There’s nothing here! I did add a lot of things, but they’re not here because I added too many of them while reorganizing the thread.
Replaced the unofficial ModLoader with an official version. Hooray!
“Must Have” Mods
These are mods that have been around long enough to be recognized by mostly everyone, they’re used by other mods to be able to do what they do, or are just overall useful for everyone, even if they do help you cheat. You’re welcome to argue if one should or should not be in here
All of you should know what this is! If you don’t, welcome to Minecraft modding! You’ll be installing this with pretty much any other mods you find later on. It doesn’t do anything by itself; it’s just used by mods so they can be compatible with other mods!
Render Player API
An API used by mods to add things to the player's model. You should only install this if another mod requires it.
Not the same as Render Player API. You should only install this if another mod requires it.
Used by many mods to be able to make sounds.
This adds in a nice GUI next to your inventory allowing you to get any item you want (in survival too!), change the time, toggle the weather, and switch between creative/survival at will!
All of you know what this is, and it's updated to 1.3.1! If you don’t know what it is, it’s a collection of mods that allow for flying, seeing through the ground in search of ores, and a bunch of other goodies. You should at least try it once, but don’t go onto a server with it unless you plan on being banned. Remember, with great power comes great responsibility. Enjoy! ๏_๏
Possibly the most popular and powerful minimap in the history of Minecraft. Any description I could give of it wouldn't do it justice. Optional ModLoader. Just don't install the aov.class if you're using ModLoader.
This will replace how Minecraft renders the game, so you can actually run Minecraft on your old 2004 computer! If you don’t know what this is, and you get 100+ FPS, then just ignore it, but if you get lower than 60FPS or the game just feels like it stutters, then you should take a look! It also has support for HD textures, animated textures, better grass, and pretty much trumps using MCPatcher.
Item Related Mods
All of these have to do with items in some way or another, like adding in new recipes, changing old recipes, adding in new tools/armor, and telling you when your last pickaxe is about to break.
Replaces the cryptic durability bar under tools with actual numbers showing how many uses are left in your tool. It even keeps the old color changing feature of the bars!
Similar to Damage Counter, but places a number above the durability bar.
Show Durability Mod
If you didn’t like the previous two mods, then you can try this one. You know when you mouse over something, it shows you the name of it. This mod adds in a number below the name of a tool to show how many uses are left in your tool.
This mod will spam your chat with messages when your tool is about to break.
There wasn't much of a description, but it seems to add in new tools and says you now want to go to the nether. I don't know.
This will let you make tools out of blaze rods.
The Mining Mod
Adds in a LOT of tools made out of all kinds of things.
This adds in a bunch of creeper themed items and armor. It has some cool things in it.
Emeral/Ruby Tools and Armor
This will allow you to create tools out of emeralds and rubies.
Franky’s Better Tools
Better is an overstatement… It adds in dirt tools and an obsidian sword.
Legendaries New Ores
This will add in new ores and tools for you to craft.
This will add in a slime ore that drops slime balls.
More Slicers and Slappers
Adds in a variety of new weapons.
Weapons of the Ancients
This adds in weapons used throughout history.
Makes leather armor useful through some more crafting recipes!
Craftable Chain Mail
This will let you craft chain mail without hacking in fire! Although, making chains out of fire is pretty fun…
This gives you all kinds of new arrows! Explosive arrows, fire arrows, egg arrows, and a bunch more!
This will give you a parachute, jetpack, and long-range teleporters.
This will make signs, doors, saddles, boats, and minecarts stack! Only 4-8 in a stack depending on the item, but it will save you a lot of inventory space!
This adds in all kinds of potato-themed goodies! From farming potatoes to potato tools, you’ll have plenty of potatoes to eat.
Ever though that making bread didn’t make any sense? Well, now you have to make flour, than dough, then cook the dough to get bread. Sense has been made, sorta.
This will let you craft a Jaffa cake, apparently.
Simple, it allows you to make a hamburger.
This will let you make ice cream in Minecraft.
Adds in obsidian, emerald, ruby, and blaze tools, as well as daggers and mini pickaxes that you can craft in the 2x2 crafting grid from your inventory. It also adds in rubies to the generation and fossils (essentially an ore) that drop bones.
This allows you to place Glowstone Dust on the ground, and it actually gives of light! It doesn't carry any redstone signal of any kind, so you can safely surround your stash of TNT with it all you want.
This makes gravel always drop a block of gravel, and allows you to craft 1 gravel into 1 flint.
Adds in a bunch of random recipes, like dirt + seeds = grass, craftable ice, and other things.
Craftable Enderdragon Egg!
As the name says, you can craft an Enderdragon egg with it. It’s not too expensive, but you certainly won’t be crafting it until mid to end game.
This will allow you to craft grass and obsidian, and glass will drop a glass block instead of shattering.
Old Book Recipe
This will change the recipe for making books back to 3 paper so you don’t have to travel to the Far Lands and beyond to find enough leather for your library.
Craftable Slimeball Mod
This allows you to craft a slime ball so you don’t have to hollow out a mansion-sized area above bedrock!
Rotten Flesh to Leather
This allows you to craft 3x3 rotten flesh into 1 leather.
This will let you compact you many blocks into compacted blocks, similar to making iron into iron blocks.
Make an Ore
This will let you turn stone and a material of some kind back into an ore.
Upside Down Torches
This allows you to place a torch on the underside of a block.
This gives you a (poorly modeled) anvil for which to repair tools on in a way that makes more sense than the vanilla repairing! The recipe is a bit over priced imho.
This will switch to a tool best suited to break a block you’re currently looking at. For example, if you’re looking at stone and start to punch it, it will switch to a pickaxe.
When you open a crafting table, a button will appear next to the interface. When you click that, it will give you a list of every item you can craft with your current inventory.
This will give you a book that has a GUI of every crafting recipe you can possibly make, mods or no mods.
This mod will allow you to sort your inventory with filters you set, and will replace the tool in your hands with a new one when the tool you're using breaks. It can also sort your chest with a single key!
The aim of this mod is to make your inventory easier to manage. Sorting, moving all items of one type, and best of all it all works in multiplayer.
Look closely at that item on the ground. Closer. Closerrrr. Too close! You can’t see it anymore because that item is 2D! This makes items render in 3D, like how they look in your hand.
This will give you a shelf that you can display your items on!
This will give you an armor stand that you can put your armor on (obviously). You can also change what skin it has, what the platform looks like, and if you want it to stare endlessly into your soul…
Allows the enchantment levels to be higher. For example, Smite X (10) instead of Smite V (5).
Changes how things act when placed, how you interact with the world, how the world generates, and some even add in new world types. Some of the larger mods are in here because they change so many things about Minecraft.
Fences, Slabs, and Stairs Mod!
This is an ongoing mod that is going to eventually add in more fences, slabs, and stairs, as the name says. Currently it only adds in sandstone fences.
Vanilla with Sprinkles
This collection of mods is made to fit with a vanilla Minecraft game. You’ll wonder why they don’t come with Minecraft!
Better World Generation
Gives you different world types (Beta worlds, alpha worlds, skylands, survival island, etc.) and just adds other things to the world generation.
This will let you have non-infinite maps! It’s like playing Minecraft Classic, but not!
Endless Ocean Mod
This adds a new world type when creating a new world, Endless Ocean. It is nothing but an ocean biome infinitely. You have a ~50% chance of spawning on an ocean, but if you don't spawn on one, just keep swimming and hope you find one.
Cave Gen Mod
Adds in a new world type where the world is one giant cave system~
By I Am David Minecraft
Adds in a new world type – Infinite Night. You have one day to build a house and gather all you need before the sun sets forever. At that point, the monsters will keep spawning, and you will never see the sun again.
Essentially a SkyBlock world type. Have fun!
By King Korihor
While it doesn’t add in a world type, it completely replaces the generation with spheres, each with a different Biome.
This will allow you to customize how high your flat map is and what block it's made of.
Flat Bedrock Layer
This will make all the bedrock at the bottom of the world generate in a single flat layer. Does not affect pre-existing chunks
Watermelons and Pumpkins Together
This will change pumpkin patches to have melons in there as well.
Big Trees Mod
Adds in larger trees, biomes, and a swath of new tree-related things! Definitely worth a try.
Adds large pine trees to the Taiga biome.
Adds in five more biomes that were apparently in previous versions of Minecraft.
Removes basins from the generation.
This will add in ruins that randomly spawn around the world, most of the with traps.
By Atomic Stryker
Adds in block physics to Minecraft!
This removes any size and shape limits for Nether Portals! Enjoy your house made of a portal!
Anything with an inventory of some kind, from chests to furnaces to brewing stands, will absorb any item dropped nearby! Also, you can play a music disc just by powering it with redstone!
If you have a chest in your inventory when you die, it will be placed with as many items as it can hold where you died.
New Bonus Chest
Puts some better items in the bonus chest to actually help you get started faster.
This will give you a new difficulty setting: Almost Peaceful. With it, mobs won’t spawn, but your health won’t regenerate like in Peaceful.
This will give you a new block, the light sensor. As long as it has enough light, it’ll power any redstone connected to it.
Block Update Detector
This adds in a block that will send a redstone current when an adjacent block changes.
This will add in blocks that will carry redstone currents to any other block tuned to the same frequency, making large redstone contraptions simpler.
This can be used to create traps, light switches, or toggleable water falls.
This adds in a block that allows for automated fishing. Just place above water and power it with redstone and you’re good to go.
This lets you dye a block of wool already place in the world. You can even dye wool through redstone dust!
This will give you a ball of yarn that will leave a trail behind you so you can find your way back through a cave.
By Atomic Stryker
When you're making a sign or writing in a book, you can select what color you want the text to be.
You can enter special tags onto a sign and have it show what it show what you would expect. For example, [time] will show the current time.
Custom Block Selection Box
You know that black outline that appears on the block you're looking at? This lets you change the color of it.
Grey Goo Mod
This will add in all kinds of crazy goo’s to Minecraft. Some do nothing, others will quickly eat away your world!
This changes how sound travels in Minecraft, adding cool echo effects, allowing for sound-proof rooms, and makes it so you can't hear that zombie deep below your house anymore!
Changes the music so there is constant music playing, just like in the Xbox 360 Edition of Minecraft.
Yes, this is a collection of mods here, but only one mod has been updated on it so far. Anyway, this will change trees to allow you to break one log, and the rest in the tree break too.
Simple, it replaces the models of villages so you no longer have to stare at those weird aliens all day!
By nate111135, updated by Inofficially
Enhanced View Distance
Is Far view distance not far enough for you? This will change Tiny to essentially be Far, and Far becomes double of what Far is. Be careful when installing this, your computer might not be able to handle it.
Interactive Food Mod
Why do you eat food with just your hands? Because you had nothing better to eat with before this mod! Now you can eat like the civilized Steve you've always wanted to be.
This will randomly distort anything that is 3D, producing a very strange effect.
You can hold a torch in your hand and have it give off light!
This one is fun; it adds in a working mirror that you can place on a wall.
These are mods that change the main menu, change the chat, allow you to add macros, or other things that don’t have to deal with the actual game play directly.
This will allow you to to use better looking fonts in Minecraft (such as the font that I am typing in right now).
This will remove the chat from Minecraft, only to redirect it to your browser! Enjoy your screen space!
This mod allows you to connect and communicate with people on an IRC channel. Have fun!
Video Setting Patch
Adds in an option to toggle fullscreen and turn on VSync (which you would otherwise need to manually edit the options.txt to get to).
This will add in more options, like changing your texture pack in game, changing from creative to survival, and loading another world without having to quit the main manu.
In-Game Texture Pack Button
This will let you change the texture pack without having to quit to the main menu.
Bringing Back the Progress Bar
This adds in the old progress bar when creating a new world.
Macro / Keybind mod
This powerful tool allows you to bind keys to a command, and set up scripts.
This will give you a GUI to pick what will spawn out of a mob spawner.
Mob Spawn Controls
Not quite the same as Spawner GUI. This will allow you to hit F6, then turn on and off various mobs from spawning. Want Ghasts in the Overworld? Maybe you want Endermen in the Nether?
When you place a painting on the wall, a GUI will come up to let you pick out a painting.
Note Block Selection GUI
When you right click on a noteblock, a GUI will appear to let you pick the note.
This will give you a nice menu that will enter a command for you! You can even customize what buttons you want, and add your own.
This adds in more achievements, and adds in a way for others to easily add in their own achievements.
Cooler Main Menu
This will replace the main menu with a cooler one.
These mods change how a mob acts, like creepers stalk you, or zombies eat anything with flesh they see (like animals). Some even add in new mobs!
Creepers don't damage the terrain, but can still hurt you, Enderman don't pick up blocks, and Ghasts don't break blocks any more.
Enderman don't pick up blocks
The previous mod already can do this, but this is updated as well, and it exists, so it goes on. There's two version of this mod, one where Enderman don't pick up blocks, and another where they still don't pick up anything, but are also immune to water and sunlight.
Makes creepers burn in sunlight, just like zombies. The day is safe at last!
This makes creepers STALK YOU.
This changes how creepers explode. Instead of just causing a small explosion, it will disappear and launch 100 arrows into the air, 25% fire arrow and 75% explosive arrows. Have fun! :S
Changes the AI of a few mobs to be a bit more realistic and more fun.
Wolves and Ocelots Don’t Spawn
This will stop wolves and ocelots from spawning, and will allow you to craft a spawn egg or buy one from villagers. Helpful if you have a problem with too many of these spawning.
In the olden days of Minecraft, creepers were the most feared foe in the Minecraftian universe. Sure, they might still be for some, but they were terrible before. When you killed a creeper, it would still explode!
No Slimes in Superflat
Simple, it removes slimes from spawning in a super flat map.
Named Entity Labels
This makes the entity label above a mob's head show the name of the creature.
This adds in a new Skeleton, the Scoaleton! It drops dark bones, which can be turned into dark bone meal, and if you use dark bone meal on farmland, then that farmland will grow anything faster than normal!
This will add in Legendary Beasts (bosses) to the game. They spawn in a nest specific to what they are, and will attack you if you get too close, thus starting the battle.
These will fix various bugs and annoyances with Minecraft, or might just change something to be a bit more friendly or creative.
Click Mining Fix Fix
Will change how soon you can break another block. Depending on the version you get, you can sprint while breaking a 1x1 line of dirt in front of you with a diamond shovel, or it can be how it was in older versions, where if you clicked again just after breaking a block, you could start breaking the next block sooner.
Light Update Mod
As you've been exploring the new map you made with 1.3.1, you've been finding area's where it's nothing but black. If you stand near it and type in the command this adds (/updatelight), it should be fixed.
Fixes some light glitches, makes water less annoying, and makes grass make more sense around stairs.
No Voidfog (and No Dimming)
Removes void fog and dimming when near bedrock.
Old North / Retro Sun Direction
Makes the sun and clouds move like they used to in old versions of Minecraft.
1/2 Hit Snowballs
Makes snow balls deal a 1/2 heart of damage. Finally your army of snow golems can do something!
The way sprinting is set up is a bit… clumsy, to say the least. This makes it a bit more like other games, where you press a single key to start sprinting.
This will allow you to toggle sneaking, or press a key to start running.
Nova’s Dream Ladder
Changes how ladders work to be slightly less annoying.
These mod change various things about the person who you happen to be possessing at the moment. Whether you deform them and change how they look, or just give them a cape, these mods will exist.
More Player Models
This lets you change your player model so you can play as a male/female elf, dwarf, orc, or a furry.
With this mod, you can upload a cape to the creator's website, and anyone with the mod will see you with your cape!
Third Person Camera
This will let you move the camera around in in third person.
Better Third Person
This will offset the third person camera so your character isn’t constantly in the way of everything!
Improved Third Person View
This will let you change the position of the third person camera, lock it in place, or make it spin wildly.
When you’re crouching, you don’t fall off of the edge of a block. But maybe you want to move at full speed, but not fall off of a block. This will allow you to do just that, and you can toggle it too, so it’s very useful when you’re AFK on a server.
You Are Herobrine
This mod lets you play as Herobrine. It completely changes the way the game works, and you can find and kill Steve.
Not Just About Boobs
I'm not entirely sure why I posted this, but it is updated, so have a description: This adds in what the title says, but also changes how the player looks. Depending on how you configure it, it can change the shape of the player entirely. It's actually a little impressive how strangely deformed you can make the player look.
Tool, Cheating, and Utility Mods
These mods are very helpful for doing various things, or maybe you just want to see where your friend hid his stash.
Capture the Monument UI Mod
I’m not entirely sure what this does. If someone could give me a good description it would be appreciated.
What's My Light Level?
This nifty little mod can show you what your light level is, as the name says, but it can tell you that if hostile mobs can spawn, if plants can grow, and can show you your FPS, the direction you're facing (in words!), your coordinates, what biome you're in, and the world seed, all without having to hit F3! You can configure what shows up and what doesn't.
Light Level Overlay
This will show the light level of a block, but will display the number on the block itself.
Simple, it will show you what your FPS is without you having to open F3.
Write to Books from Text Files
This will let you create a text file in your .minecraft folder, add stuff to it, then that will appear in a book! Well, sort of. It’s a bit more involved than that, but meh.
This will change the underlying server in 1.3.1 to be a Bukkit server! At least, I’m fairly certain that’s what it does.
This will continuously spam whatever server you set it on, trying to join until there’s an empty point. As useful as you might find this, I recommend you don’t do this, as it can severely lag the server you point it at.
This will allow you to have a compass that will point you in the direction of any block you choose! It will also help you find Strongholds and Dungeons.
By Atomic Stryker
While not as powerful as Rei's Minimap, some people might prefer it.
Aliens Motion Tracker
Adds in a nice looking motion tracker in the corner of your screen.
Essentially a local area minimap that can show where ores are in a top down form or switch to a vertical display and show you what’s around you behind walls.
This will let you fly and see through walls, helpful for finding cave systems!
By Atomic Stryker
This allows you to jump much higher than normal, but be careful, you can still take fall damage!
Allows you to fly.

Aug 7, 2011RAM = Random Access Memory, it's memory that can be changed and does not need to be read in a linear order (e.g. You can jump)Posted in: Redstone Discussion and Mechanisms
Decoders are very simple, they take an input, usually binary, and change it to a different form, often decimal or hexdecimal (base 16)
Also, why do you want non video guides, videos make it easy by giving both audio and visual for you to learn from.
