    ----OOC Info----
    -Minecraft IGN: ajax6893

-Do you have any prior roleplay-related experience, if so could you give an example? I have roleplayed on various Minecraft RP servers, including LotC before it changed to the new world. I have also played various tabletop roleplaying games such as Dungeons and Dragons which I have played for about nine years now.

-Define Power-gaming in your own words: Power-gaming is when one acts in such a way that either A ) the character would be incapable of or B ) denies the opportunity to react against the action (ex: *Bob cuts off Bill's head*)

-Define Meta-gaming in your own words: Meta-gaming is using knowledge that your character does not/could not know (i.e. knowledge gained out-of-character).

    ----IC Info----
-Character name: Mikael Johnathan Pelegia Traven VIII

    -Character race: Human

    -Character age: 23

-Character Occupation (optional, note you still must talk to the lord about loaning or purchasing any stall/shop for your character if he/she would have one. Also be sure to give previous applications a glance before deciding your job, we don't need 5 bartenders!): Mikael has some combat training, but he is primarily a scholar.

-Character description (At least one to two paragraphs describing your character’s visual appearance.): Mikael is of average height, standing at 5 feet 11 inches. He has dull-gray eyes and brown hair. He usually wears plainer clothes in browns and dark colours, though he will dress up for special occasions. He keeps his face well shaven and his hair short.

-Character personality and traits (At least one to two paragraphs describing their personality traits and/or quirks.): Mikael is often quiet and reserved though that doesn't mean he does not know what goes on around him. In fact he is quite aware of his surroundings, he just doesn't respond unless he feels as though there is a need to. He is not rude, however. If someone directly addresses him he will definitely respond. Perhaps one of his most odd quirks is the fact that he is almost always reading when not doing anything else (well, as long as he can find a book). If someone bothers him in the middle of reading without a good reason (in his eyes) then he can get quite annoyed.

-Character biography (At least three paragraphs describing your character's history and experiences): Mikael Johnathan Pelegia Traven VIII is the eighth child and fifth son of Baronet Mikael Johnathan Pelegia Traven III. Being born to a noble Mikael VIII was trained to be a knight; but being the eighth child he also didn't have to worry about
inheriting land, and therefore the more tedious points of noble life. During the time that he wasn't training as a knight (and often when he was supposed to be) he would study what books his family had in their library or go elsewhere to find other books that they didn't have. From these books he has learned much about the world and gained a fascination of magic.

Unfortunately Mikael VIII grew up during the war with the Pact and this overshadowed his life as the war came closer to his home. His father, older brothers and sisters all went to fight the pact and Mikael had many responsibilities thrust upon him all of a sudden. He was often stressed by this and sought much help from his mother who had more experience in running a noble household. Mikael would take any excuse he could to get away from many of those duties, though there were a few he didn't mind. The war also meant that Mikael could not go and study magic.

When Mikael VIII turned seventeen the Travens' received news that all of his family on the field had either perished in battle or gone missing. This news devastated the whole family, but their mother most of all. She became unresponsive and withdrawn, requiring more and more care. Three months later she also died. Once again the family grieved for the loss of a loved one and now the responsibilities of running the household fell squarely on Mikael's shoulders. Mikael did the best he could and got whatever help he could from friends and family. It was during this time he seriously considered going out to fight against the Pact, but by that time the war had all but been decided and it was time to leave his home. They naturally went to Barakmstead, fortunately for their family they had and Uncle in the city already who could take in the youngest kids and care for them. Mikael now turned to looking for work to help provide for his family and to improve their station.

-Please give us a short RP response to these two scenarios. (At least one paragraph for each):

You’re walking around the markets at around noon. There’s a lot of people around you, still gathering their items as they prepare to shut down their many stands. Suddenly you feel a gentle lifting of your coin purse as a child graces you and soon after they take off sprinting. You have been robbed.

I whirl around and try to get a good look at the thief, grinning to myself as I do. The thief may have gotten with one of my coin purses but being out on my own had taught me to always carry another purse somewhere less easy to get. Still, a thief is a thief. Unfortunately I had only caught a glimpse of the culprit from the back, not a very good description for finding him.

I shrug resignedly. There wasn't much I could do as I didn't have any way of finding or pursuing the thief as he -or she- was so small that they could manoeuvre through the crowd much more easily than I. I turned around again and continued on my business. The loss of the money was regrettable but replaceable; some things weren't.

You’re heading back to the city through the woods when you hear a whining coming from nearby. Upon further investigation you come across a grey-coloured wolf that appears to have its leg caught in a bear trap. Around it is three smaller lumps of fur, obviously puppies belonging to the trapped mother. Without help, they’ll all die, but wolf skins are quite valuable too, not to mention that the nearby farms suffer quite a bit from the wolf population.

I look down at the wolves and consider my options. If I were to kill them I would prefer it to be quick and not to let them suffer out here like this, but if I let them go free they could cause trouble for the farmers and others. I look at the wolves again and nod. My family and I could use the money from the skins and it would protect those around here from at least some of the wolves. I draw my sword and breath deeply. It had been a while since I had drawn it and it felt a bit heavy in hand. The mother wolf, having already been growling, becomes even more aggressive in response to my threatening stance. I advance carefully to just outside the mother's reach and then lunge at her, aiming for her head. She able to dodge me, though awkwardly due to the trap, and I stumble past her. She turns towards me as best she can with her leg in the trap and I turn also. I really do need more practice I think to myself and I ready myself again. I had gone for the head because it would cause less damage overall to the fur but it was a small target, in
comparison to the rest of the mother's body. I narrow my eyes and stumble back as a ball of fur leaps at me. One of the pups at least has enough strength and growth to at least try to fight back. I easily kick it away. I look at the mother again and rush suddenly,
slicing at her neck. I land a solid blow and the sword, which I do still keep sharp, goes into her neck. Her body goes limp and I feel a scratch on my leg. The pup that leapt at me is back and I pick it up by the scruff, take out a knife and finish it off. The other two pups are running now and I don't feel like chasing them. I'll still get a decent amount of money from these two. I look at the dead mother and pup and shake my head. I really didn't enjoy that, but my family could use the money. I sling the body of the mother around my shoulders and pick up the body of the pup, shivering a bit as some blood trickles onto my clothes, then I set for home.

-Magic Biography; Explain the reason you want your character to have magic through backstory application: Mikael Johnathan Pelegia Traven VIII is unusual compared to the rest of his family. Where his brothers practised tirelessly to become great fighters Mikael took to reading, writing and art. He still practised with the sword but he never became a great fighter, or even a good fighter really, against anyone who had been in a real fight he would've lost. It was quite a while before he learned of his magical potential. He had been studying some family heirlooms and his mind began to wander and he thought about magic. Hear heard an odd sound and opened eyes and to his amazement (and a bit of dismay, but the amazement was definitely more strong) his notes on the heirlooms were covered in a sheet of ice.

Excited and confused Mikael went to his parents to ask if they had any idea. His father reluctantly acknowledged that they had known that he had some magical potential, but he had kept it hidden from him because he wanted him to grow up “a proper noble”. When he was born Mikael's eyes had been the green of his mother's but as he grew they started turning gray. Mikael had been too young to remember this and he only had significant interaction with a few of his siblings who were also young then. Mikael tried to learn all he could about magic from the books that hisfamily had. Unfortunately the books were lacking and focused on stories that, while interesting, provided little insight to actually using magic.

Mikael practiced as much as he could, but one thing he did know about magic is that it could be dangerous. Almost all the books he had read had emphasized this, usually through some rash person who ended up blowing themselves up. He also had less time to practice as the war raged on and he had to take on more responsibility. Due to all this he still knows very little about magic and seeks to learn more.

((My more specific reasoning for Mikael's magical ability is because he actually did have an ancestor who was capable of magic. But genetics and magic are weird and he is the first to manifest the ability in his family for while.))

-Please give an example in your own words describing the limitations placed upon those who use magic (This should be at least one well-crafted paragraph): Magic is like exercising, except much more risky. When you exercise you risk overexerting and hurting yourself, whether it be minor or major. In much the same way overexerting yourself magically could hurt your physical or mental health, not to mention you might blow up your artifact if you channel too much, or outright kill you. Depending on proficiency and level of artifact you can only do so much magic. A beginner user of magic isn't going to be able to create giant infernos of fire with a stronger artifact (though how they would get their hands on that is anyone's guess).

-Please give a description of the magic system in your own words: Magic is used by channeling magical energy through artifacts to achieve your desired effect. Depending on the artifact it can do certain things, like a weak trinket of water splashing a drop of water on someone or spilling some water out of a cup. The higher level of the artifact the more powerful effects can be achieved, depending on your own character' proficiency with magic.

-You are given a weak trinket of ice, you haven't had much practice with magic yet, but you will try your best. Describe some things you could/would do with this trinket: I could probably create small sheets of ice, help cool down things as long as they aren't too hot (or too large), make basic shapes (cube, pyramid, etc.). Little things that might entertain and impress a child or someone without contact with magic, but would be underwhelming to most other people.

    Out of Character Information

    Name: Jared Russell
    Minecraft Player Name: Ardan_Talvas
    Age: 19
    Time Zone: PST (UTC-8)
Tell us a little about yourself: I like to read, write, sing and program. I love roleplaying and have done quite a bit over the years. I started when I was in middle school with my brother and his friends using their own home-made tabletop system. Since then I have been regularly roleplaying. I try to be respectful and courteous to those around me and try to include others. I enjoy it when everyone has fun.

    Character Information

    Character Name: Ardan Talvas
    Character Age: 22
Tell us about your character: Ardan Talvas is rather mysterious. He will often keep to himself but can surprise people by jumping into a conversation unexpectedly. Ardan loves to learn, if he can find a book to read he will most likely read it. He also keeps his own notes about what he learns. During conversation he might use words others aren't familiar with, though it may or may not be on purpose. He also cares about what goes on in the world round him, though due to the fact he keeps to himself it often doesn't show, and will try to help people he believes he can help.

    Information (Out of character)

(The one you use to log in to MC) : Angjak

    Age: 19
    you speak: English

    Information (In character)

    Name: Angjak

(We accept traditional fantasy races: Elf, Dwarf, Human, ect): Orc

    Age: 23
    Gender: Male
    Job or Hobby: Job, Mercenary.
Appearance (Please be descriptive and if you can post a picture of your skin) : Angjak is rather large. He stands at 7'7” and is broadly built. He has a broad nose, dark-red eyes, black hair, dark olive-greenish skin, a red tattoo on the left side of his face (marking him from the Shatokolk tribe), and slightly yellowed tusks that come up below his nose.

Background Story (Be sure you have read the lore and make sure that your background story fits with the lore) (Remember magic must be earned after joining the server. Any apps containing magic will be denied): Angjak was born to the Shatokolk tribe of Orcs. The Shatokolk tribe placed strength above all else, if you were weak you were either driven out or constantly picked on by those stronger than you. Angjak was not one of the weak Orcs. In fact from a young age he was recognized for his strength.

As Angjak grew he became very respected among the Shatokolk. That would change, however. He took a liking to a particular Orc-lady. In the Shatokolk tribe prospective mates had to battle one-another to determine if they were strong enough to marry each-other, and the Orc Angjak liked was quite a bit weaker than him. When he announced his intentions, to marry this Orc without first battling her the other Orcs were outraged. The chieftain stood and gave him one chance to take back his words. When Angjak refused the chieftain grabbed the Orc Angjak had intended to marry and slit her throat. Enraged, Angjak challenged the chieftain to a duel. Angjak, while strong, was defeated by the chieftain and left near death as the tribe moved on.

Angjak was not one to yield to anything, not even the cruel elements of nature, not without a fight. He found his way to a small village, and promptly collapsed. He was clapped in chains, though still saved from dying. The village leaders discussed what to do with him, as they knew he was from the Shatokolk tribe by his tattoo. He was brought before the leaders and questioned. He told them what had happened and as he looked at them he said, “I know why you are afraid of me. I was Shatokolk.” he paused for a moment, “No, I was never really Shatokolk. Their violence is senseless. They claim to value strength above all else but they use it to bully those weaker than them.” he narrowed his eyes, “Strength should not be used that way. The strong should use their strength to protect the weak from those who are stronger, and in that way also find opponents to test their strength.”

At this the leaders were surprised. They had never thought a Shatokolk capable of such a speech, having thought them little better than wild beasts. After long contemplation the leaders decided to let Angjak live, though he would not be allowed to stay in the village. Now Angjak wanders around as a mercenary. He will ever have the Shatokolk desire to fight, but he fights to protect others and test his own skill, not for power alone.

Have you read and agreed to both the rules and the lore of the server?: Yes I have.

What is the definition of “Powergaming”?: Powergaming is forcing an action to happened without any opportunity to prevent it. Ex: “Bob cuts off Bill's head!”, an appropriate action would be: “Bob swings at Bill's head”

What is the definition of “Metagaming”?: Metagaming is using information that you know but your character doesn't in-game, like me knowing that X is going to happen from an outside source and doing something pertaining to that even though my character may not have that knowledge

What is the definition of “Roleplay”?: Roleplaying is the act of taking on the persona of another person (often made up) and acting as they would.

Who can use flymod, X-ray and other such clientsided mods?: No one

When are you allowed to cause the death of another character?: Technically, only the person playing the character can kill said character. But technicalities aside, your character can only kill another character if the player playing that character assents to it.

When are you allowed to speak out of character?: You may speak out of character in the local channel as long as you use double parentheses for what you say, conversations out of character should be left to the OOC channel or PM's

Do you have any previous RP experience, Minecraft or elsewhere? Indeed, I have played on several Minecraft RP servers, played with my High School RP club and played Tabletop RPG's with my friends.

    Character Information

    Name: Brigid Aed

    Age: 23

Class: Depending on the back-story, Swordsman-Miner or Swordsman-Farmer

Physical description: Brigid is 5'10” with red hair, freckles, and a somewhat pale complexion. Because of her lifestyle, she is quite strong with well-defined muscles. She most often wears leather armor, even when not in battle, otherwise she wears simple clothes, usually brown or green in color.

Screen capture of your skin: Thanks to topazamaranth for the base skin, screenshot uploaded as an attachment.

Biography (Minimum 225 words. Most very fleshed-out characters have around 300, but feel free to use even more than that if you wish. No clichés such as loved one being killed by robbers or the like): ((Due to the nature of the original back-story, I will give both the original and an altered version.))

Original: Brigid was born as a mining slave in the Guyrese empire, working in harsh conditions as soon as she was able to pull a load. Despite this the Guyresians that worked them made sure that the workers were fed and kept relatively well, and some even made friends with some of the workers. At the age of 10 disaster struck, raiders came on the mine in the night surprising all. Many of the workers and Guyresians were slaughtered, among them Brigid's parents. Brigid was only saved by the hesitation of one of the raiders and the quick-thinking and skill of a fellow worker from Braxia and together they escaped. They traveled towards Braxia, with the Braxian, named Hendreck, teaching her much about survival and fighting. They traveled long, eventually coming into Braxia, an interesting pair to see: A tall, unkempt man perhaps in his late thirties and a young, travel-worn, girl with a defiant look in her eye, Hendreck soon found a home for her, a kind family of simple merchants; However, Brigid was a restless child and often got into trouble, fighting and the like, and once old enough she left her hometown, saying goodbye first and thanking Hendreck, quite a bit older now, even going so far as to hug him. Her talents led her to a life of taking odd jobs, mostly of the kind that fit her skill set: hunting, and mercenary work were what she was often hired for, though she wasn't above more mundane jobs when the money ran low. Though she has gained much experience, she is still young. Hired to help a group of colonists settle, she has embarked to the new lands, and hopes to find new opportunities there.

Altered: Brigid Aed was born into a family of simple farmers but was never content with her life. At the age of 14 she learned how to use a sword from a man named Hendreck, an avid fighter though growing old, for he saw Brigid's potential. She was a tireless pupil, doing her regular tasks as well as training with Hendreck who pushed her hard. This fortunately kept her out of some of the trouble she got into when she was younger and, though her father and mother did not like it, they saw that it kept her occupied and allowed her to continue. When Brigid turned 19 Hendreck gave Brigid his sword, and said to her, “You have learned well, Brigid Aed, and so your name suits you, for you fight valiantly as with a flame burning within. I give you now my sword, for I have no use for it now that I have taught you. Use it well.” So Brigid then said goodbye to her master and family and set out to make a name for herself, taking jobs mostly as a mercenary, though she never took any jobs that she saw as too ambiguously moral. Though she gained some of a reputation, it was mostly in a small area, and she was not able to garner attention from anyone that could spread her name further, so when she learned of the colonists heading to new lands she saw the perfect opportunity to spread her name and got onto one of the ships to what she saw as her destiny.

((Honestly I could go for either as one provides an interesting back-story and the other would be interesting to flesh out a character with.))

What is your character’s main goal? (Motivation): Brigid's main goal is to make a name for herself using her talents as a fighter.

Strengths (Both physical and personality): Brigid is both strong and agile, one of the reasons she keeps to lighter armors is to maximize on this, and is trained well with both a sword and bow. She can sneak when she needs to and has learned how to survive in the wild when the need arises. She can work with a group but prefers to do things herself.

Weaknesses (Balance out yours character's strengths with suitable weaknesses. Not knowing how to do something that is outside of your class is not a weakness. I.E. Not knowing how to use a bow as a miner.): Because of the way she lives Brigid is not a very social person, more of the type to sit silently in a corner than to be among a throng. She is also very headstrong and quick to anger, something that has caused her problems on multiple occasions for she will rarely back down from a challenge and does not often let insults slide by unanswered.

What is your character's personality? (Optional; use this field to note character traits that you feel don't fit into either strengths or weaknesses if you wish): Brigid is silent and brooding when not fighting, and when she is she fights as though it were an art, for she feels a thrill when fighting and was taught by Hendreck that it is indeed a form of art as beautiful as any song, poem or painting when done properly. She knows how to read, but does not do so often unless it pertains somehow to fighting, especially on techniques that she does not know of. Despite her rough attitude, she is kind and is willing to help those in needs, though often discretely, and is always willing to take a job that will help the less fortunate. She treats her friends with respect and is ready to help them at a moments notice unless there are more pressing matters.

In-Character-Responses (ICRs. For each scenario, write at least a paragraph describing entirely in-character how your character would respond to the situation. Your ICRs will be used to see how well you can RP. Please post them as if in IC chat.)

Due a recent accident, you wander the dark quiet streets of the town with a somewhat severe injury.
Brigid winces as she limps, trying to get to an inn as quickly as she can, keeping an eye out in case anyone got the idea to mug her. She had tripped down a hill earlier, dislocating her leg and spraining her ankle causing her to make a quick splint and to painfully relocate her leg. She silently scolded herself for being so clumsy, she hadn't even been in a fight and was quite vulnerable. She picked up the pace as an inn came into view, thankful that nothing had happened; Ordinarily she would be happy for some action, but sometimes she was able to recognize her limits.

In a tavern, a stranger threatens you to fight him/her:
Brigid smiles, looks around and says, “I'd be happy to oblige.” she then quickly gets up, delivering a solid punch into the man's gut causing him to stumble backwards. Brigid wastes no time and attempts to kick the man, not expecting him to be ready, but the man dodges the blow deftly, delivering a punch at Brigid's face in return. Brigid narrowly dodges the blow, surprised by how quickly the man recovered. Brigid takes a deep breath and goes into a defensive stance, determined to study her opponent so as to make no more mistakes. The man tries several more times to hit Brigid using punches and kicks at various places, each time only to be dodged. Frustrated the man yells “Yeh coward! Yeh've only landed one punch!” Brigid's eyes narrow and as the man goes for her head again, she grabs his arm, slamming him on a table in one smooth move then flipping him on the floor, taking the breath out of the man. She stands over him and asks, “Are you done, or would you like to continue?” The man shakes his head as he stands up, helped by others, and says, “Ain't had fight like that in a while, but mark me, next time we fight it's you who'll be on the floor.” He then heads back to the bar, leaving Brigid smiling and shaking her head.
