posted a message on Windows 10: how to build stairs or ladder down from the top of something?

I would use a bucket of water, then use dirt or something to pillar down from the portal. Then use ladders to go back up this pillar and retrieve the water :)

posted a message on Basic suggestions for a beginner

I'm not entirely sure how mod packs work on ipads, or if they work at all, but I have been playing PC (Computer) since 2013, so I at least know my way around that.

    STEP 0> INSTALL MINECRAFT

Basically just make sure you have Minecraft downloaded

    STEP 1> FORGE

For a mod to work at all, you will need to download forge. Forge is something that allows vanilla (Original) Minecraft to be edited and 'modded'. You will need to download a version of forge depending on which version of Minecraft you use. (e.g: if you use 1.15.2 Minecraft, Use 1.15.2 Forge e.t.c..)

Here is the link to the official forge website: http://files.minecraftforge.net/ - it is completely safe to use, however, the adverts on it sometimes can get a bit shady. Just be careful to select the official links, and you will be fine :)

Just follow the instructions after this, and then you don't have to do anything else with this file.

    STEP 2> MOD PACKS

Once you have forge downloaded, you can now find a mod pack. Depending on which version of forge you used to determine which mods you can get (e.g: If you have 1.15.2 Forge, you can only get mods that allow 1.15.2. This is always very clearly listed in the mod description) I recommend sites such as https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods or https://www.minecraftmods.com/ as these have always been trustworthy and do not harbour any virus material from what I have experienced.

    • Once you have found a compatible mod, simply download it. Open your downloads folder and locate your downloaded mod file. If it is a zip file, simply use Softwares such as Winrar to unzip it, then find the folder inside and drag onto your desktop or somewhere you know you can find it, if it isn't a zip file, don't open it or move it anywhere, just locate it and leave the tab open so you can find it in a minute.
    • You are now going to want to do: Windows+r. (This will open the run directory.)
    • Type into the bar %appdata% and click enter. It will open your Roaming files.
    • Click on .minecraft
    • Click on mods

Drag your mod folder into this file.

    STEP 3> STARTING MINECRAFT

Once you have everything downloaded and compatible, you can now open the Minecraft launcher (DON'T CLICK START!). You are able to select different versions, updates and snapshots of the game here. However, for your mod to function, you will need to run with forge. Usually, the launcher automatically notices you have downloaded forge and changes your start settings, but if not:

    • Head to 'installations' (At the top of the launcher)
    • Click 'New installation' (This is usually displayed as 'New...')
    • Select the drop menu 'Version'
    • Locate forge. (It may take a long time, but believe me, it's in there somewhere. If it helps, most of my forge files are 'release 1.15.2-forge-31.1.0' or something along those lines.)
    • If you want to name it, then just put whatever you want into the 'name' part, but if not it will be saved as <unnamed installation>
    • Click the green 'create' button
    • Hover your mouse over your newly created installation, there will be a green 'Play' button. click this. It will load your game.

I would recommend creating a new world specifically for your mods as if you use play on it without forge, you will lose any modded material in said world.

Please contact me if you don't understand any of these steps :)

posted a message on Breeding Turtles

The way I do it is to pile up on some dirt or something, then drop the seagrass. The turtle's AI won't detect your player, but it will detect the grass.

Also, to be able to breed turtles, you will need to trap them on the beach where there is both sand and water. They take a painfully long time to breed, so don't be discouraged, just make sure that the seagrass has been sucked into their inventory, and remember to stay close to them.

posted a message on Question about backups

A backup creates a copy of the world in its current state, by save+exiting the game, your original file is the only one to be updated. If you select save backup every time you leave, these copies will begin building up over time, so I suggest to periodically go into the save file and deleting old backups :)

posted a message on Hiring Builder/Build team (PAID!)

    THIS IS CLOSED FOR NOW

    Hey all!

I have recently started a large build project: It is a replica of the forbidden city and is turning out to be quite challenging on my own.

I'm looking for some builders with experience in building in the same style as this (attached as IMAGE 1), or can adapt easily to this style

On the topic of the scale of this, I have a map of the city in Beijing (attached as IMAGE 2), the shaded area is what I have already completed and is about 775x300 blocks. I understand that this will take quite a lot of time and effort, so I'm willing to go by whatever price you think is necessary as I haven't hired builders before. I have no budget, but please be sensible with how much you're going to be charging me~

I was building from references such as maps and photographs, however, I don't really mind if the finished product doesn't look exactly like the original, so you don't have to worry about that

    <APPLICATION FORM>

I have an application form for you to quickly fill out, you can send this to me on here, or to the contact details that I have linked below :)

    What is your name/nickname?

What is your IGN in Minecraft?

    How old are you?

How long have you been playing Minecraft for?

Please attach a screenshot of any recent builds/worlds.

    What is your timezone?

    How active are you?

If you have discord, please send me your tag so I can add you to the discord server, and send you our IP privately

If you would like to be paid, please give me a rough figure of what you think would be appropriate

    <CONTACT DETAILS>

    CLOSED FOR NOW

I look forward to meeting whoever is interested :))
