That isn't one wide. The redstone dust makes it so you have to activate all of them at once.
One [block] wide simply means the design takes up one meter of width. You're talking about one-wide tileable, where you can have multiple one-wide modules next to each other and activate them individually.
Aug 16, 2012I think it depends on the server. For vanilla survival, I think it would be more ethical to actually collect the resources instead of exploiting a piston bug to duplicate blocks. As far as Skyblock and other maps where resources are not infinite, they should be allowed so you aren't limited to a certain amount of sand.Posted in: Redstone Discussion and Mechanisms
I personally consider such generators a bit "cheaty", though.

Sky hippo is correct. Both sand falling and any block being pushed by a piston become Entities during both actions. With the correct timeing the two will switch. Not a bug, but not exactly entended as well. The concept would probably be applied to make some very interesting transisters?

Well, as i think about it, It would make sense. Think of it like this : Falling sand becomes an entity, and the moving sand allows it to phase through the glass because to my knowledge, a moving block, especially transparent, becomes a way for entities to fall through it, much like players, the sand as an entity makes it fall through but with the correct timing makes the entity become a full block under the glass, i hope my possible solution solves your question.
Thanks everyone for the replies.
Yeah, I haven't done much with sand so I'm unfamiliar with this kind of thing. I'm really interested though to see whether people develop new mechanisms like the "transistors" with this. Hopefully it doesn't get patched in the next update :/
Aug 7, 2012I found that you can use a 1-clock to make a sticky piston swap a sand and glass block. I don't think happened in 1.2.5, although I should check.Posted in: Redstone Discussion and Mechanisms
Can anyone explain this behavior? It might be a new bug caused by the piston speed changes in 1.3.1.

For dispensers, there are way more compact things to do..
You can take advantage of the fact that any update to a dispenser will make it dispense an item if the dispenser is constantly powered.
Knowing that you can fit an 8 item dispenser or less in a 3x3x3 area easily
This works great, except if you want an odd number of pulses, you need an extra tick somewhere in there. I've tried it and eventually settled on something similar to this, an RS-latch controlling a clock with a delayed self-reset.

I looked in Session.java but all I found related to MP is a String named "mpPassParameter", its only reference bring in MinecraftApplet's init() method. There's also a String named "sessionId", but that's didn't turn up anything either. :/
Jul 29, 2012Hi,Posted in: Modification Development
I'm making a mod that should only run when in multiplayer, but I'm using ModLoader and don't want to edit the base Minecraft files. Is there a way to track when the games connects or disconnects from a server?
This was something I thought of, but might be inefficient:
// Minecraft instance
Minecraft minecraft = ModLoader.getMinecraftInstance();
// Whether the last iteration's Minecraft was in MP
boolean mp_last = false;
// Whether the current iteration's Minecraft is in MP
boolean mp_curr = false;
// Constantly checks for connect/disconnect
mp_last = mp_curr;
mp_curr = minecraft.isMultiplayerWorld();
// Connect: last is not MP + current is MP
if (!mp_last && mp_curr)
// Disconnect: last is MP + current is MP
if (mp_last && !mp_curr)
(Sorry about the indentation, the editor for code here is crap)
Jul 28, 2012If you don't have any knowledge with coding, then modding isn't exactly for you. You can always request a mod here though: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forum/52-requests-ideas-for-mods/Posted in: Modification Development
Jul 7, 2012That was my first design, but this is actually more compact because 7 seconds' worth of repeaters is 17 repeaters. Other than that, the clock and memory latch are still the same as your design.Posted in: Redstone Discussion and Mechanisms
