I would definitely hit up the BlazeGraphics guy. The websites he creates are beautiful and very reasonably priced (usually websites go for over $1500).
Watermarks are ridiculously easy to remove. In most cases you can just apply the opposite effect they did. It's now always perfect but it's highly effective. I've done it on stock images with basic watermarks. Anyways, if he isn't going to pay me if I don't watermark it he probably would just get someone else do it if I did.
EDIT: Thanks anyways, don't want to sound ungrateful for your advice.
I understand where you're coming from, and you're right. It's easy to remove watermarks like this, though I've only ever done so with the clone tool:
But what I use is my logo turned into a Photoshop Pattern, repeated over and over:
Overlayed on something less busy it is noticeable enough without being intrusive so they can still clearly see what they're getting.
I'm not familiar with getting money via paypal, but there is a donate button in the link in my signature (the gif) just scroll to the bottom of the first post. Otherwise my email is [email protected]http://i.imgur.com/bmus6dN.png
Tip: watermark the image next time. The guy has no incentive to pay you what he said he would pay as you've already provided him the work he's asked for.
Someone else would be drawing it. Then I put it into Adobe Illustrator and create the outlines, then put it into Adobe Photoshop and do the coloring, highlights and shadows. The person I'd ask to draw it is someone that made a topic here previously asking if someone could color his drawings in. Why don't you send him a message? If you can work out getting the drawing completed, send me over the final version and I'll color it. You can find him here.
It's a little complicated. I forgot the exact steps to do it since it's been a while but in general you use the selection tool, a vector mask and a gradient to achieve the same effect.
That's how I used to do it but then I was taught to use the gradients. Making it a layer style so it is still editable without all of the work is so, so great.
You use photoshop cs3? You should try out illustrator or inkscape, for the kind of stuff you do with text vectors can be incredibly useful. Anyways awesome tutorial.
I use Illustrator for logos I create for clients, mostly. The users here don't exactly have a use for vector images.
I'm going to be spending my night at the pool but I will consider and work on some or all of the requests either when I return (because I stay up way too late most of the time) or tomorrow morning.
If you're reading this and you want to post a request in hopes that you'll make it into the queue - you won't. But post anyway! Maybe I'll get bored or be on a roll and just knock 'em out.
I might be able to help you out. A few weeks ago there was a post on the forum by someone asking for help with tracing and coloring a sketch he made in the style of SkyDoesMinecraft's and MinecraftUniverse's banners. I gave it a shot and they turned out like this:
If you are interested, I could contact him and ask him to create a sketch for me to work with. I'd divide the payment. Let me know!

You will come to learn that the prices you're competing against are either under $3 or completely free.

I've only worked on avatars, a banner would be no different. But if you're not interested good luck in your search

I'll have to give that a shot!
Thank you!
