Not the mod, just Linux. I was curious about the mod though, which is why I peeked in on this thread. But I didn't like the 1.6.x series of Minecraft so I didn't install it. But now I find myself helping from time to time anyway, qualified only by having simply read the original posts that everybody else skips over when they have a problem. *lol*
Yeah that tends to be a common thing of this fourm haha. I was just wondering because I have been running arch for awhile and cant get my mod to load or forge/mcp to work on it. It's not a big deal because im dual booting linux and windows 7. Thanks for helping out

Parameters go in the launcher itself. First, choose the profile you want and click "Edit Profile":

Then check the box for JVM Arguments and add them to that line:

Once saved, you can play with the new options in place.
Thanks for helping people :Diamond: . Are you running linux and my mod?

Can you please attempt another beta for 1.7 with proper installation instructions.
Not until a stable mcp is released. My mod already has weird phantom bugs that are very hard to reproduce except on that computer, I've already run into problems with random in explainable crashes on beta 1.7.2 I will not update until a stable version is released and I my self can test it with out it crashing a few times.

Kinda late here, but nope, it was on the 1.6.4 version.
In the end I managed to make the enchantment lag go away anyway, by replacing one of the classes in my 1.6.4.jar. But then I noticed what happened with Thaumcraft 4 and gave up on it :(
Hmm that makes me think its not my mod, while granted the way I get rid of the item rendering glint is a bit "hacky" it should not lag more ( it should crash, spam errors, screw up textures etc), If you can run FpsPlusverD for 1.6.4 and run optifine and use their option for getting rid of enchanted items as there implementation is cleaner. I still think my FastMath has a few benefits overs Optifines.

In case you are wondering why we did not update MCP for more recent version than 1.7.2 - we will update for 1.7.6 once it's released.— Searge (@SeargeDP) April 1, 2014

This seems only to make my FPS worse, it especially seems to make the enchanted item lag more noticeable. I appreciate your efforts but it doesn't seem to help me for whatever reason.

I'm guessing this only works for certain computers, much like Optifine?

Specs, in case you were wondering - Intel Core 2 Duo 2.1 GHz, nVidia GeForce 9800 266 MB, 5GB 1067 MHz DDR3.
Yeah, some computers do not benefit from a less L2 cache intensive Sin\Cos implementation and others do. Although If you had any other mods going that could be a cause for enchanted items stilling lagging. Unless it was 1.7.2

I've been having a really weird problem... I'll load up minecraft and start it, but it crashes before a window even pops up. There is no crash report, and i have put in the parameters. I've been doing some testing and I've found that the crashing occurs when i remove the meta-inf from forge. Anyone know how to fix this?
try installing the mod in the mods folder instead of in the .jar still use the startup parameters though.

I can't seem to get minecraft to open up right. every time I try, it just brings up the launcher again. any way I can fix this?
    Crash Report?
    Quote from Revemohl

Weird, I made a quick MultiMC instance to try this out, got that line about the FpsPlus non-mod file in my log, but enchanted stuff still seems to be reducing my FPS. I used the method of dropping the file in the mods folder and adding those startup arguments, by the way.
Does this mean I'm one of those unfortunate people who are unaffected by this? Oh well :(
Is there any other Forge-friendly way to remove the lag on enchanted items I could try?
    Is it 1.7.2?

    line 121. Its loaded.
2014-03-20 20:58:06 [INFO] [ForgeModLoader] FML has found a non-mod file FpsPlus1.6.4_v2.zip in your mods directory. It will now be injected into your classpath. This could severe stability issues, it should be removed if possible.

yesssortof. i went into MMC's files and found the versions one. put it in the 1.6.4 jar.
That might be why, try putting in your mods folder and make sure you have the startup parameters.

Abandenz is there any way to know if you have the mod installed correctly? You know besides a possible boost in fps.
If you post your startup log I can point out where it shows the mod getting loaded, once 1.7.2 mcp comes out im going to re release all versions that should hopefully make it more clear that its loaded.

Anyway to get this mod working without the use of java arguments? Currently using the Technic launcher and they don't appear to have that functionality built in.
No forge doesn't like base minecraft edits, and the only way that forge will load the game is with the arguments, However you should complain to the devs of the launcher, because adding a place where you put start up arguments is really easy to do.

It didn't work out for me. I am using Intel® Core™ duo 2.20 Ghz. Can you help me solve this puzzle which makes me difficult to comprehend the functions? I am just 3 fps going into it. My Minecraft won't go for it. It is not boosting it anyway.
It should just work if installed right although some installations still dont work for some reason. Some cpu's do not benefit as much as others do.

Well, F# is supposed to make everything better by being a better, faster, more reliable, more flexible, and more powerful language except that it specifically targets the .NET framework. Everybody knows, .NET is *NOT* a universal standard. It's another Microsoft control imperative deviance written by control-freak bastards who can't stand all the negative feedback that hits the fan every time they release a "new and improved" version of their clunky closed-source World Domination O.S. :P

I guess I'm too "old school" for these new modern programming contrivances... *lol*
I did not even think about it like that either, I knew it was .NET targeted, but if i cant use the scripts on linux because of that its going to drive me mad. First forge made it hard for me to port this mod to it, and if mcp does something where I have to use windows that will suck lol (even though I dual boot them anyways). The only argument closed source software has is that it needs to have higher standards which is a double edged sword because they often release software that is buggy and more hacky then the opensource equivalent, and so they just want to hide their code that is less standard compliant then opensource code is and say it is "higher standards". Although I guess I can see the benefit for a few closed source things.
