When i first started minecraft I tried to guess recipes as there are a few that are very intuitive and i I would get so excited when I figured them out myself...but with some recipes there is just no way you could guess them unless you spend days on end trying different combinations. So thats where I searched for them. If there was a game mechanic like books that you could find in survival world that would tell you the recipes I prob wouldn't of searched online. After a while most recipes are just from memory.

The fighting mechanics needs upgraded ...its crap..one button spamming isn't that fun, the animation is horrible, and than in regards to PvP it basically comes down to who has the better connection to the server for the most part ( tho some strategy and practice does help). More variety than just a single swing type might be nice, also (blocking does exactly what??).... I don't think that a change to the mechanics would be soon if at all.
The game has been out so long and people have gotten so used to it that if changed, they will probably rage. Should of been changed long ago. At the same time though I could care less, there's other things I think need worked on first. *cough* Brittle boats..wait ...shouldn't of coughed it broke my boat

Yeah boats have needed fixed for a while. Boats were better in alpha and thats just sad.

Iron farms still work just not iron trenches and such. You can still infinite village breed too and the setup is a lot more simple now. So your whole argument is just false. Educate yourself before ranting

Yes this is a bug thats been noted. My beacon on the surface of my world is fine but the beacon i have near bedrock only is seen when looking down. this should be fixed in next update.

I use Mumbo Jumbos design which is a stair type twister elevator which worked great in the last snap shot but not in the recent one. Ive had to add repeater delay to the pistons pushing the stairs as I kept getting stuck in them. This resolved my issue. Im unsure if its a change in redstone or lag...hoping this will change in 1.8 full release.

I heard 2 things some time ago: 1. enchanted items cause lag relative to their unenchanted counter parts. 2. Changing the enchanted item texture (enchanted_item_glint.png) can reduce lag.

I tested these out and heres what I found:

Summary: 1 seems to be true. 2 seems to be false, no changes to the texture result in a significant FPS improvement.

I don't think there are any restrictions but smaller biomes does mean it is less likely for one of the chosen spawn locations to be valid (that is, the game uses an algorithm to generate points a certain distance (8-32 chunks/128-512 blocks) from each other and generates a village there only if the biome is plains, desert, or savanna; you can use Superflat to see where they will generate in a normal world with the same seed. It is possible that the game avoids placing buildings in another biome but as far as I know only the location of the village well has to be a valid biome; the Wiki also suggests they can extend into other biomes; "The well acts as the "center" of the village in reference to Minecraft's code. If a well generates in a desert, all buildings and paths will be made of sandstone, even if all other buildings are in an adjacent plains biome." They sometimes still fail to generate though, as in this example; the presence of cave openings where the village was supposed to be shouldn't prevent it from generating.

Also, it is rather unfortunate that there are no settings to change the spawn rate of villages, as seem here for Superflat, which can help offset changes to biomes (my biggest gripe is that they didn't include any options to change the size/number of caves, which were made less dense in 1.7, thus still requiring mods to change them; it is also beyond me why they couldn't have included the options for structures seen in the link).

I've noticed that since I got Minecraft in Beta 1.3, the boats have become like twigs. They break at almost any thing it does, like running into a block at 1mph. In 1.3 Beta you could literally stand on the boat itself, and make easy boat loaders. I think that they should be less delicate again.

Thanks for support everyone! Maybe make it so that it depends on what the contact block you hit is mined by. Example; Mined by pick materials(stone) break the boat upon slower contact. Axe materials(Wood) break the boat only on fast impact. Shovel materials(dirt) cannot break the boat. Soul sand is the only thing I know of that doesn't break them.

It's very frustrating when you accidentally bump into the side of an island and it just breaks.

Make the village compact. Rather than making houses look like real-life houses/huts, make the houses functional by making them mainly a frame for doors. Current zombie sieges start at the edge of villages and move inward, they no longer spawn randomly throughout the village. I also have an underground base, with my own underground "village" that is really just a semicircular hallway around a central skylight that gives sky exposure to a bunch of doors hidden in the ceiling above or under the floor below a big central spawning platform for iron golems, where flowing water pushes them into a central lava-over-hoppers pit where they are ground up for their iron and poppies. The semicircular hallway with the villagers is JUST a hair smaller than the radius where zombies spawn during a siege, so the zombies all spawn in the base hallway outside the iron doors that keep the villagers from wandering into the rest of my base. This wasn't an intentional design element, but it turned out to be a serendipitous coincidence that really worked out well. At least since 1.8 came out, I haven't had any zombie sieges inside the village hall itself, they've all been stranded outside the iron doors.

I've got a breeding room above the main village hallway with a couple of farmers and one non-farmer locked in a room with a field of potatoes to tend, with a couple of drop shafts only children can fall into leading down to the main village. And a couple of lockable chambers built into one of the walls where I can trap the farmers to prevent them from breeding when I don't want more squidberts at the moment. With a total of 100 doors clustered around the skylight, I've got enough "houses" that the villagers in the actual hallway keep their own numbers up with spontaneous breeding as well.

I've gone through this suggestion page and while I've seen alot of suggestions for things like adding new food items, chocolate milk or sandwiches I have not really seen much in the way of suggestions for expanding upon the uses of already existing food items.

First off, I shall state. I do not play modded minecraft. Since I am on a gaming console there is no way for me to download or implement anything that is not put into the game by the creators. So saying that there is a 'mod for that' is beyond unhelpful.

Another note, I am not going to include images or diagrams for these recipes because again this is something that can be worked out by more creative minds than mine.

Nor am I going to encourage anyone to suggest things like potion effects on food. Its food. It serves the purpose of filling hunger, and I think that is a fine purpose! I am also not going to suggest anything that uses items that do not exist in vanilla game.

I would like to see more uses for the existing items. At the moment things like meat, you can roast it, but little else. We can make bowls, but only for mushroom stew. Carrots have pretty much no use past eating raw, feeding to pigs or putting on a stick. Potatoes, one of the most versatile foods in reality, you can only roast them. You can only bake one kind of cake and cocoa which once you have it growing is incredibly plentiful also only has very limited uses for either cookies or dye.

So why can we not then put some thought into expanding what recipes we can prepare. As for how much hunger they fill, I say not much more than their component parts, much as when you take mushrooms and bowls and make stew you fill more than if you eat the things separately (well except the bowl). If we were to prepare -say taking the base recipe of mushroom stew and add carrot and potato, we would have vegetable stew, and possibly only an additional hunger filled. Add meat and you could really make something impressive.

Stews I think would be a great way to go, not only does it give more uses for things like carrots and potatoes, but it also gives more reasons to have bowls on hand.

Cakes, I suggest that on that if we traded out one of the redundant ingredients (like one sugar or wheat) for something like cocoa, or carrot. we could have a different type of cake. I honestly do not suggest this would change the amount it fills or any other mechanic. It is just an idea for making use of existing ingredients in a fun way.

Other ideas of various uses of items:

Potato Bread (basic bread recipe, but with potato instead)

Flan or some kind of pudding (sugar, milk and an egg)

Potato Salad (milk, couple potatoes, carrot. Possibly an egg)

Jello (possibly made from slimes? and sugar.)

I'll add more as either I think of the ideas or people give suggestions.

Again as a note. No I'm not giving the exact details of things like 'how much health to fill' overall there seems to be a sort of math involved with the current recipes and I say whatever one they use with that would be fine for figuring out how much a new one fills.

Cooking is something I enjoy, and farming and cooking in minecraft is something that often feels both intuitive and fun. I would love to have more I could do with existing ingredients.

i logged into Minecraft today and realized i have a new cape on that is apparently an advertisement for Microsoft's new game and was placed on my back without my knowledge or consent.

i thought caps were a really cool thing before this, but their appeal has diminished quite a bit to me now that i know Microsoft will just abuse it as potential ad space.

well, since they give it to you and you can then choose whether or not to wear it, that would be different from here where i'm forced to wear an advertizement for 48 hours.
