Nothing on the front page of this Forum, nor on their download page would indicate that Biomes are not spawning in 1.8 - in a mod who's main function is to spawn biomes, this should rate a mention.
Now admittedly the CurseForge link shows the download as being Alpha, but also does not state that Biomes are not spawning, AND it's for a version that's had 13 more versions come out after it. Even under an Alpha release I would expect some kind of functionality, otherwise what's the point of providing downloads ?
Maybe I'm being a bit impatient here, but I would have wasted a LOT less time on this if there had been a disclaimer such as "This mod is completely disfunctional under 1.8 at the moment".
Should have been more specific in my earlier post. I reduced the min distance down to 3 and the max to 10. Same result - a ship per 1000 blocks - maybe. Also removed the rowboat as it was hard to see for testing.
Just did another test with min = 1 and max = 2, and now I'm getting quite a few ships - maybe half as many as in your example picture. So I guess it's just a matter of tweaking those 2 numbers.
Odd that the default numbers are not working properly for me. Maybe some other mod is throwing it out.
The latest 1.8 BoP BiomesOPlenty-1.8-3.0.0.1113-universal.jar still appears to generate no non-vanilla Biomes.
Does anyone else feel that if the mod does not actually perform it's main function (ie extra Biomes) after 58 releases under 1.8, it's not really a mod at all ?
As a test I had no other mods than BiomesOPlenty-1.8-3.0.0.1099-universal.jar and Forge 11.14.1.1336. Created a Singleplayer World using Creative and World Type: Biomes O' Plenty. Flew around for a while at top speed - nothing but vanilla biomes. I then used a few other versions of the 1.8 BiomesOPlenty jar and a few different versions of Forge 1.8 and exactly the same result.
I'm also getting a crashing conflict with every version of BiomesOPlenty from 3.0.0.1058 onwards to the 1.8 version of CodeChickenCore (1.0.5.34): "A critical problem occurred registering the ASM transformer class $wrapper.net.minecraftforge.fml.common.asm.transformers.MarkerTransformer java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: $wrapper.net.minecraftforge.fml.common.asm.transformers.MarkerTransformer at net.minecraft.launchwrapper.LaunchClassLoader.findClass(LaunchClassLoader.java:191)".
It's going to be a sad choice if we have to choose between Not Enough Items and Biomes O Plenty.
BiomesOPlenty 3.0.0.1054 does NOT crash with this error, so I deduce that the problem is not at the CodeChickenCore end. Even with this version I get NIL non-vanilla biomes however.
For many versions of the build now, i've been getting "A critical problem occurred registering the ASM transformer class $wrapper.net.minecraftforge.fml.common.asm.transformers.MarkerTransformer java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: $wrapper.net.minecraftforge.fml.common.asm.transformers.MarkerTransformer". Tried it with lots of different versions of forge and same result.
Now, I get that this is still a Beta version, etc, but if it's not allowing Minecraft to even start up, how are they even testing each version ? Am I doing something wrong ?
It would be nice if next to each download it had the Forge version it was designed to run with.
I'm getting almost no boats spawning in 1.8. For quite a while I thought the mod was not working, but i eventually found a boat. I can fly over an ocean at full speed in creative mode for 10 or 15 minutes and only maybe find a boat - that's many thousands of blocks. Certainly many less than in the 1.7.10 version. I had a look at the config, and there's no setting for the base spawn rate.
Made a tractor and some of the attachments - plow etc. Could not for the life of me figure out how to attach them. I see from the video that there should be an inventory, but can't figure out how to make it come up.

Seriously annoying.
