The xbox game will be a whole new game (not a version ie version number 1.7) and not subject to his original promise.

This thread has been done before. All future versions does not cover different games, it covers different versions of the same game. Minecraft for XBox and XPeria Play are different games. Ergo, no free versions.
I would have assumed that anyone with half a brain cell could figure this out, and this thread would be needless. I also thought that the Minecraft player base (or at least Alpha buyers) aren't all cheap ass, false entitled, precious snowflakes who are easily offended by people who are point out their stupidity for what is is.
Then I remembered this is the Internet, and the OP is from Texas. More fool me,
Oh, and incidentally, I don't have a MOM. I speak English.

This is definitely up for debate, and not clear at all. Though I do see this going to the consumer's side. The agreement upon purchase was ambiguous and therefore the law will lean the the consumer's advantage.
dictionary, get one.
Jun 26, 2011ZoridiumJackL posted a message on So xbox 360 owners are getting minecraft for free right?guys, it isn't cheap to give away that many copies of a game for free, especially when most of the profit goes to Microsoft and the other company (the one building it under mojang), so don't blame him for that, and don't jump to conclusions, he hasn't confirmed anything to my knowledge, and i doubt he will until closer to release, which could be a while away.Posted in: Discussion
let me put it this way, if you had the option not to, would you give away enough copies of your game for free that you end up paying out of your own pocket (and don't bring up the "notch has lots of money" crap, i have 3,000 dollars in a bank account, and im not going to be buying a stranger something that cost $200 dollars anytime soon).
as to whether he has the legal option to charge you, it all comes down to two things, copyright and definition, as to copyright, it will be under different copyright to minecraft due to all the other companies involved, there may even be a name change thrown in there, this then means that under a legal view it is not classifiable as a "version" of minecraft (now don't bring up the law that says in instances where a definition is called into question the court will rule in favor of the consumer, because there is no question as to the legal definition of "version", if you think there is i suggest you get a good dictionary)
basically, he has no obligation to give you a free copy of minecraft, he might, and if he does it is completely out of is own kindness.
(to ensure that this has no biased i will inform you i bought minecraft during the offer in question and own an xbox 360)

I honestly have no idea what that shitfest of a post was. Additionally, it took them two days to get a good "story" up an running as to why everything all of a sudden died. It took them even longer to add it to the page for these forums (which matters because not everyone might happen to browse Curse.com as you seem to presume they do). And, yes, I have used Curse before for other gaming forums and sites, and the same **** has happened. You need to learn to not make so many assumptions.
No wonder you come off as such a jackass in all your posts.
EDIT: And, yes. Comensation to some users. Not all users. Just some. Additionally, it costs Mojang sales when things like this happen. I, for one, did decide to go check the Curse.com forums, and people were saying they were holding off buying because of the forum downtime. I don't think you quite realise the scope of how many people actually use these forums, and how it might affect people.
no assumptions were made i assure you (seriously, i made an inference with the information given, never an assumption, you know what they say about ASSumptions), and i am not the one coming of as a jackass here, not to imply that you are, because you aren't. and playing the lost sales card is a little silly, because the amount of sales lost because the forum was down a few days is nothing really, sure there might be a few, but nothing in comparison to the sales it makes, as to those that want to check out the forums before buying, fair enough, they'll just have to wait a few days extra, i don't think you quite realize how inaccurate a cross section of a community/business a forum is. i never presumed that people browsed curse.com, but anyone interested in why their sites were down would have, not going to their website and then complaining that you weren't informed is just being a bit of a ****.

To those saying that Curse provide a "solid service" - not quite.
Curse have had quite a history of random downtimes because "things fail."
To be honest, I preferred the old management and servers - fair enough, it may not have been ideal, but it was still better than Curse.
From what I can remember, the only time these forums have really died was during a DDoS (nothing you can do about that) or a critical failure (but even then, basic functionality was kept so we constantly had updates on what was happening.)
Curse comes along, they have a critical failure, and we're left for a day with one of the most vague messages possible, and then they add/remove "explanations" over the next three days. If you're going to take down an entire network of millions of users, you should atleast have the courtesy of telling them why right from the start.
so wait... another company has a critical failure in the past but when another company has one its different just because you didn't have the ability to click a link as apposed to typing in the url (last time i checked, typing in url's was not a strenuous activity) and you decide that they are a lesser service? not to mention the fact that they not only told you exactly what was happening and when they thought it would be fixed they offered compensation to some users.
as to telling them right from the start, they don't always know exactly what the problem is at the beginning, and if it's only going to be a few hours, what does it matter what the cause is.
basically you have formed a biased not based on anything other than an unfounded dislike for the company and your own laziness (correct me if im wrong, because you never state having any prior dealings with the company).
people, seriously, get a life. **** happens, stuff fails, we move on and get over it, no need to go on a witch hunt k?
