I DID IT! I DID IT!!!
I figured out how to disable vanilla ore generation without making a core mod! I was digging through the Minecraft/Forge code and I noticed that there was a MinecraftForge.ORE_GEN_BUS event bus. I registered an event handler for the OreGenEvent class, set the even result to DENY, and then suddenly there was no vanilla ore generation (other mod ore generators still worked normally).
New Base Metals version: BaseMetals v1.3.0
Not only does this version add the ability to turn-off vanilla ore-gen, but it also adds a new metal plate block. Metal plates are mostly decorative, but you can protect a wall from explosions by covering it in steel plates (or better yet, adamantine plates) and the metal plates will be used as recipe ingredients in my up-coming Power Advantage mod.

Also, I am looking forward to see what you do with the new pressure plate.

People complaining about horses because you want other aspects of minecraft to be refined first, that makes sense. But hey, if this is a Mob update maybe they will be fixing bugs that pertain to mobs, and refine them to a point that they good.
And for people complaining about horses because the Mod API would be a much better update, I agree the mod API is going to be great, whenever it comes around... but until then I will play minecraft how I want, because its an open sandbox of anything I can Imagine

The thought originated about a week ago when a few friends and I were playing on a LAN world and we were saying how much we hated that if we wanted to venture out to find anything we needed to take a bed with us to make it day time, however that would also reset our spawn point away from the village we had taken over and set up shop.
A more detailed thought would be keep the normal bed that was crafted with any wood type and any normal wool color (white, black, whatever other color sheep naturally spawn with) and then make a second recipe that involved specifically colored dyed wool, or a variation of the recipe so that its a bed recipe with the 3 empty slots containing some early game/ easy to find item. The two bed's would have different textures solely for being able to tell them apart.
As I typed this I thought even potentially making a sleeping bag instead of a second bed, and have the recipe 6 wool in the same crafting shape as a bed.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
Edit* The new bed would be a bed you can carry with you as you venture out into the world so you can sleep, make it day time, and then destroy your bed and keep moving. Then you don't have to worry if you die you will re-spawn at your home in bed, not at the bed you used as a travel bed, nor at the location of your original spawn point because your bed was moved.

this mod is great, good job guys. There are a few things I would love to see, like compatibility with other mods that add mobs, and maybe make it so you can have a primary and secondary class, and change it so you pick a race, then a primary and secondary class, and the race determines the characters stats, and the classes you choose would determine what weapons you used, (these are just the things I would love to see, but hey, its your mod...)
edit: by "compatibility with other mods that add mobs" i mean that killing the mobs will let you level up
