Notch updates frequently? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! He's a lazy ass developer who updates his game every month and a half and adds nothing worth having. Let's see... 1.4. Wolves? already mods for it.
There is no excuse for rarely updating a game, and when it is updates, having it still buggy (there are over 100 known bugs) and still making us pay 20 dollars.
Any game in constant development is going to have bugs. No way around that.
Personally, I would hate for there to be more frequent updates. Imagine having to go through multiple patches in a short amount of time?
Look at other games, MMORPGS, before you criticize.
Also, while you are at it, go to school and study how to develop and design games. See how easy that is.
At least this is not one of those games where there is a monthly fee. Be grateful that it is a one-time payment game. I think it is pretty awesome considering that we are able to play on multiplayer servers and also be able to play on modded maps and generators and the like.
I can't complain, except, like others have said, distributing any form of the game itself is illegal. No ifs, buts, or arguments. You didn't create the game, Notch and his staff did. It's like distributing illegal copies of a DVD to people. It is wrong. Notch and everyone else on staff has worked hard to make such an awesome game.
Quit the bitchin' about how it is apparently ok to give away any copy of minecraft, old or otherwise.
He doesn't use server plugins, we just want the basic pure minecraft experience. I don't believe in 3rd party addons. :smile.gif: I was the legendary guy who used to play WoW with not 1 addon. :tongue.gif:
I don't know who you mean by 'he' but the owner of the multiplayer server I play on does, in fact, use plugins. Or did, before the 1.4 update.
I do enjoy playing the game without them though, but for a multiplayer server it is sometimes needed. Plugins where your chests and houses are protected from damage by other players is a nice feature. Also, the ability to set multiple spawn points is handy too, although when the minecraft staff fixes the new 1.4 beds, then there won't really be a need for said features... Besides maybe having more than one spawn point that you can choose from and teleport to.
I've never played WoW personally, so I wouldn't know, but I'd think that playing some games without updating them would be... Well, a bad idea.
I don't see what the big deal is with 1.4 and multiplayer servers, besides the fact that the server owners have to wait for new versions of plugins to be updated for 1.4. So I am just waiting for that to happen before I go back to my multiplayer server.
The only problem I have with the wolves are the fact they eat sheep. As someone who collects wool, it is annoying. Yes, I do find wool lying on the ground in places, but I'd still rather get it from the sheep myself.
I agree though that distributing any versions of the game is illegal and shouldn't be allowed. Having legal access to downgrade would be nice and swell though.
I found this thanks to the Yogscast. I'm currently generating a map now, but I am not going to play this with the planes mod. I want to go through the hell of traveling through the desert on foot. >_>
This map is way too hard. I'll try it again tomorrow, but... I keep dying multiple times.
I also tried planting saplings near the lava, and they caught on fire of course.
And the one tree is just really ruining it for me. Using only a few torches and trying to wait for trees to grow is just annoying.
But it is challenging, I'll give you that.
Kill some :Skeleton:. Get some bone meal. Grow the trees.
The problem is that I have done that before, and I wasted bone meal because apparently the sapling didn't have enough light in the first place.
I think I will try to work my way up to that obvious lightsource that everyone has mentioned already. I won't go into detail on what my plans will be then.
I saw videos by Yogscast of them playing with this map and I immediately was amused. So, of course, I had to try it.
I didn't get too far ahead before I realized that playing with water underneath is probably ALOT easier... That way, you keep your stuff that you have harvested, even if you fall and you have to go and swim or build up to another planet.
Monster mobs don't appear to spawn on the starting tree planet. It's a little disappointing. Maybe it was just a really small planet for them and they didn't have enough room to spawn?
I'm currently generating the map again, but this time with bigger planetoids and such. And with water of course.
We run a few plugins to add to functions (like minecarts, and access to the nether and such) but nothing really massively game changing. Gotta work for your stuff and all that.
Mobs are on and all that. Otherwise pretty much normal play style =p

Extract the folder that you get from downloading this first.
That fixed my problem.

And that still doesn't make it right.

I actually have wood now. I can finally do stuff! And grow saplings!
YES!
Things are not as hard now.

Looking forward to trying to survive here!

Ah...
Yeah, I'm looking for a server that I can join now. :/
