posted a message on Merrabane Art Gallery

Finally the last structure has been created in the commercial district. This plot of land sat empty for a long time. It's nice to see a new building on it. Not only a new one, but an interesting, colorful one as well. It's the Merrabane Art Gallery. A place where beautiful art is displayed for all the view.

This is in Merrabane. My greatest survival-made project. Enjoy!

posted a message on Biome Server Idea. Suggestions please!

I had this new idea come to mind recently. Maybe it already exists and as popular as Minecraft is I'm sure it does... Anyway, my idea is this: Specific biome civilizations. In other words, a group of people that own a specific biome. They settle there and develop according to their home biome. Lets use this example: Imagine a desert biome adjacent to a forest biome. If the forest group wanted sand or sandstone, they'd have to trade resources among each other. Taking resources from the desert biome would be theft since it is owned by the desert group. Trading among other groups would be essential. Each biome would in a sense create it's own culture because of it's setting.

I'd be curious to see how trade strategies would be set up. I'm curious about any allies or enemies that would be made as more biomes became owned and developed. I want to see how certain places will flourish or fall. I enjoy the cleverness of people and want to see how such a system would develop.

Please lend me any ideas and/or suggestions / questions you have. :)

My computer and internet connection isn't hearty enough to support a Himachi server. I mean I could, but It wouldn't run very well and be laggy. If I ever do open up another server, I'll let you be the first to know.

I'd love to have you join in on this project, unfortunately this place is a single player world. It used to be a server but has since closed down. I saved the world file and continue to build on it as a single player world. I may open it up as a server again in the future, but there are other things I need to fix about it first. This server ran for over three years and over time has had many people come through. Because of that, the save fill is massive and I'd hate to run such a huge place as a server. There was also a lot of "test sites" that had been blown up, burned, griefed, weird structures built, you name it.... Very undesirable stuff. I don't want that land if I were to start a server. Do you know if it's possible to save a portion of the world? That being my project.

posted a message on Sirrus - The Grand Kingdom. Suggestions?

I love designing and building but for the longest time I've had 'Builder's block' on this Sirrus Kingdom project. Long story short, It's something I've planned on and attempted making for years but for various reasons I've not been able to finish. Finally I have a stable environment where I can create as I wish but I'm stuck. Here are a few things to take into consideration: 1 - Sirrus is a massive kingdom. It's walls encircle the city farther than the eye can see. 2 - I'm only building this on survival. 3 - I'm a huge stickler for quality construction and appearance. 4 - I'm building this by myself. 5 - every bit has lots of detail and heart put into it's creation. For example there is a section of wall that has well furnished bedrooms, a secure mine entrance, crafting and cooking room, storage rooms, plant farms and animal farms. That's just one section within the kingdom walls (And that section is not finished yet!)

I have what looks like a considerable amount of work already done, however on the grand scheme of things I'm only about 1% finished. I'm not worried about time - this will take as long as it needs to take. I'm just looking for suggestions on what I could make in the walls or city.

Just as another note - I fully understand the task I'm undertaking. I consider my self more of a Minecraft veteran having been playing and building for 4 years now. (Follow me and I'll post picture updates of Sirrus)

I hope to see some creative suggestions! Thank you :)

Thank you, I appreciate the comment. No need to be jealous and this is why: We all have our strengths and weaknesses. Building happens to be one of my strong points so I stick with it. You are the same way in your own regard. There are things you're great at that I'm not. When you find your area of expertise run with. It's your skill so use it and hone it!

posted a message on The True Builder

We all know that person who only wants to build and build and build - or maybe that's you. Either way, we all know how it goes. You view Minecraft as a means to design and create, all other game objectives aren't worth chasing. Any opportunity to build is a good one. When your buddy asks if you want to do some pvp games your answer is always "nah, I'm working on something". When the server community is gathered, you're no where to be found because you're off building something. Hmmm. You're an interesting breed. See, other folks are well rounded. They enjoy a little bit of everything, but not you. Your desire to build is something that "well rounded" people will never fully understand. You push to perfection with each build and as one is finished, it's time for another. What is it that drives us to create? Anyone can build. Anyone can learn to build well. It's the True Builder that sets the standard of excellence and never stops. Why? What is it that the builder pursues that other people don't? What do we seek when we know our work will never be done? I speak from experience. I am a True Builder - I know my work will never be done and I'm okay with that. Why?

posted a message on The History of Merrabane

These days Marrabane is a beautiful, quaint town with every detail worked to the finest level. With it's origins dating back to when I first started playing Minecraft - that was sometime around mid 2011. Merrabane was an unorganized village in a large kingdom. The buildings, houses and surrounding kingdom walls appear quite sporadic and confusing... That's because they were. Back then I was a complete Minecraft noob, but I was ever so eager to build and build and build. My desire to build outpaced the need to learn, plan and design - thus giving the town a messy look. Yet, even with a somewhat disastrous appearance I can't help but love the original Merrabane. It brings me back to a time and place when Minecraft was new and exciting and gave me the opportunity to build whatever I wish.

Long story short, the original Merrabane no longer exists and there is little evidence of it (Though I posted one small picture of it here) After that server was lost, I was devastated but still determined and excited to create. I decided that I'd have my own server and run it however I wish! Little did I know that running a (well managed) server takes a lot of work. Upon opening my new server, I put myself on creative and began excessive construction. I decided to bring the town of Merrabane back to life so that it's past would not be lost and forgotten. I built a much larger and cleaner Merrabane, but it left me feeling unsatisfied. Sure it was a massive town - nearly 60 individual structures, was clean, organized and detailed but I didn't love it. It felt plain and lifeless. Sure it was a marvel of construction being that I built it all by myself, but a town is supposed to have life, which this one didn't.

As time went on and my money became tighter, I had to eventually shut down my server. For a while I gave up on Minecraft, but my strong desire to create never left me. I began looking for servers that I could create on. I searched with no luck. Finally I came across a quiet, vanilla server - this was the right one! The server owner showed me around and I quietly followed. Little did he know that I intended to build the finest town in the whole server. Together we found a suitable place for me to begin development. Being that it was a vanilla survival server, I had to start completely from the ground up. For the longest time I was considered the poorest and weakest player. They all wondered why I didn't build a giant stronghold for myself, gather up gazillions of diamonds and craft the best armor. They had no idea I was on a completely different mission. No one came to check on me or see what I was up to since I wasn't doing the usual "build a base and hoard everything" style of play. I must have appeared as a boring person! More than two and a half years later was Merrabane in a near complete status. By then I had gained massive amounts of wealth and strength and those people who didn't believe it only needed one tour of the town before realizing that no newbie could have created such a place. A big, beautiful town built entirely on survival with no help. Every itty-bitty detail worked out. Every building and house custom and unique. Every single square of land in Merrabane has been scrutinized for the best possible appearance. Nothing left unperfected. This is Merrabane. Enjoy.

posted a message on Valle's Vanilla Server [Small community] [whitelisted] [24/7]

Hello MegaCrafter, thank you for your reply. I appreciate the information you've listed in your application, but I do have one concern - that being your age. Please understand my position here. In the past, I owned two servers for two years. I had allowed 11-14 year olds to join my server - which did not go well. The younger players, though friendly, have always been a nuisance from my years of experience. I'm not saying you're immature, I'm asking you to see it from my point. Because of my experience, I am very leery of allowing people under the age of 16 to join our server. I believe there are many other servers with a lower age limit that would suit you well. If you have any other questions, feel free to message me.

    Thank you.

Hello, thank you for your reply. I have one question for you. Above you made this statement: "right now I'm just trying to keep myself entertained with the game." My question is does this mean your interest level in the game is low? You may possibly leave the game due to lack of entertainment with it? Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with that, but please understand it from my position as staff on this great server. We're looking for people who are likely to stay here and build into this friendly community. We're not looking for people who are likely to leave after a short period of time. Anyway, thank you again for your reply. I hope we can discuss things some more and find the right fit for you.

    Thank you.
