After getting a bit bored i went to LAN and turned cheats on on my survival world, just to fly around and try to find a desert, one of the few biomes I have not encountered yet in my world. At around -1826, -2941 I found myself gazing upon a little island with 2 Birch trees and Huge dark oak trees, in the middle of a big lake branching off in all directions right in the middle of a roofed forest (Large Biomes). As I was beggining to get bored with my base I took note of the coordinates just in case I wanted to start a second base. Then yesterday I was browsing the forum and found this awesome challenge and instantly decided to start off in that island. So I opened my world, tp to the island and began to work. I immediately died, after pausing the game for a while not realizing LAN was still open (LOL). Ok. Second try. To my amazement this island was the perfect spot for this challenge. Being the middle of a lake was good for scurity reasons. I chose one of the Birch trees as my Spirit Tree, Birch being my favorite tree in MC. I started creating my tree and spread its begining roots so as to reach the oak trees to chop them down so I could have a 360 view of the lake to be on the lookout of incoming swimming mobs. Then I chose a spot to begin rooting underground and form a cave to get coal and iron as reaching diamond levels would take a lot of time. To my surprise as soon as I began digging I found coal beneath the first layer of dirt, and picking this coal next to it was an iron vein to boot. Perfect start, got a few torches to lightup the island and some iron from which I made a bucket and saved the rest. After a while working above on the tree I went back into the cave to go deeper in search for more coal and about just immediately after I broke the blocks that were behind the first coal vein, BAM! I found myself on a ledge near the roof of a giant Ravine. it was completely dark, I made a hole on the roof and waited till morning for the sunlight to show how deep it was. I am currently expanding my roots down the walls of the ravine, I hope it isn't long before I can find some diamonds for an enchanting table.
This will be an epic challenge, just as I was getting bored of MC. Nice!
Edit: The first week or two is rough. I am used to playing on hard mode, I had to go on medium because of hunger, its been about a week and I have not eaten anything, surviving on half a heart. Wheat is growing so soon the fear of dying to something really stupid will go away.
Edit: Personal rules.
- No diagonal connections, all parts of the tree MUST be touching each other.
- Minimum terraforming, I want my roots to adapt to the terrain, not the terrain to my roots. If there is a hill on the way I will go through it, around it or over it, the hill must remain.
- If there is a lake or river the roots will reach the bottom and then go back up on the other side. If the path is too long and I would drown before reaching the other end then I cannot cross through that lake or river.
-minimum retracing, if I place a log it stays there forever. I allow myself to break and reset some just to change the log orientation. This gives randomness to the root system and forces me to think twice about how to make new paths.
I've heard stories of even real life friends betraying people in factions. Sure you can't trust no one, but playing alone in factions is no fun. You just have to go with your gut instinct for recruiting and play the cards you're dealt. If you get screwed simply start over, its a game its not like you will lose your house or your life.
If you don't want to feel like a cheater just open up your backup, take note of the quantities of every item and then go to your current world and give yourself the exact amount you had through creative.
There you go. Hollow it out and start the 10 floor building I asked for. Include mob farms and a train rail spiraling around it from top to bottom. I'll keep adding stuff as you go.
Let me get this straight. You spent endless hours accumulating blocks and now you want to store them out in the open rather than in chests? As in you want to place them in the overworld so that you have to mine them a second time when you actually need them? Is that what you want? Hmmm people are weird... lol.
Anyways, if you want to display them make large statues around your village.
Mmm'kayyy... Make a 100x100, 10 floor high, self-sustaining dirt hut complex. Include everything needed to not have to go out of it for any reason, complete with villagers able to spawn in every floor and able to wander to every floor & the roof pool.
I would recommend you to play the game without reading anything if you want to get the full experience. The game itself will slowly guide you through achievements and such, use your intuition, then you can learn advance stuff off the internet. But don't skip the experience of being a noob, I did it and regret it. However, if you just want to jump ahead to the action then go right ahead and learn as much as you can before playing.
