I personally think it's an armor bar.
Sure, you can gain experience now with the orbs. Sure, you can sprint.
But give me one good reason why those two new features would need a place right on the HUD for you to see at all times. Think about the minimalistic qualities of Minecraft. Do you think its creators would start cluttering your screen? In the COD franchise, for example, once you're 'out' of sprint, you just slow down. And experience could be better placed in the pause menu or the inventory menu.
Just my 2 cents..I guess we'll see when the update finally drops.
Well the armor meter wasn't very useful in the first place. However, experience is something people tend to want to keep track of without having to go into the inventory. What if you're fighting a group of enemies? In SMP you can't just go into your inventory because it doesn't pause the game. Having it on the HUD would make it more convenient to keep track of.

Once again, I'm thoroughly impressed. Pretty much the only thing I'm not a fan of is the armor icons I'm going to be playing on my friend's build server so I'm definitely going to start using your pack again.
As always, great job Tobi!

Well.. I feel pretty stupid now. That worked. Thanks!

I'm trying to make a light sensor setup that turns on some lights when it gets dark out. Pretty simple.. The problem is that it doesn't seem to get dark enough to trigger the sensor to turn off. I read that you can use a screwdriver to change the level it turns off, but all it does is turn the sensor itself. Would anyone mind telling me what I'm doing wrong? xD

1. Some recipes have to be remade since vanilla materials are pretty much being completely replaced. I believe new stairs will be coming in the future.
2. The 4th is actual smooth stone. It's made by right clicking natural stone (i prefer to call the ordinary "smooth-stone" natural stone) with a chisel. It makes a smooth block with carved edges which can then be mined.
3. I think the point is to get away from automation. The mod puts heavy emphasis on getting away from those kind of features which make vanilla incredibly easy.
4. It will be hard to find many mods that are compatible since the mod changes so much.

I still may. I'm not much for text based videos, though. I would likely do a combination commentary and text when I need it. I'll probably start recording tomorrow. I have to write a script and stuff so I stay on track and not miss any important bits.
I read your posts fine. I understand that it's not 100% accurate all of the time, but I was just pointing out that there's a way to use it to your benefit.

Re-read what I said. Even in a case where you're strip mining, if scan one block away from the ore and it reads nothing, but you were just getting small/medium/large traces a few blocks away in either direction, then you would know it's right there behind the block that reads nothing.
I've been thinking about making some videos explaining certain mechanics of the mod. Although, I don't want to end up making the video and have said mechanic be changed since this mod is in the beta. Come the full release, I'm definitely doing an in-depth series for this mod. I really enjoy this mod and I'm finding it hard to go back to vanilla minecraft.

Would not expect you to. I love the challenge! :]
But you already see the ore.. xD If this was the case and you were strip mining, you would know since it would go from detecting the ore to showing nothing at all, instead of the gradual dropoff.

1. Yes. Use sand in a forge.
2. Learn where the ores usually spawn. Many useful ores spawn in granite. Also learn the trick to using the prospector's pick. There's a few guides that have been posted in this thread and I think on the wiki as well.
3. More than likely, yes. We might see some new features in the beta v2 that will make use of some of them.
4. They're not repeated, they're just very similar. Marble has a slight pinkish color to it while chalk doesn't have any distinct color to it.
It's not 100% accurate all of the time. It also has a hard time with multiple ores and minerals in the same area (hence why it detected silver while you can only see bismuthinite).
I'm quite curious about this as well. I want to add a bit of information to the wiki, including pictures of ores in their natural state. This would help out quite a bit.
Never mind. I think I figured it out! Zombe mod and added the custom IDs to the ores list?

Huh.. right you are. I didn't know this.. I didn't even bother trying since I saw people talking about not being able to get glass.
You have to use a tool in order to cut down trees. You can't do it bare-fist. The first tool you can get is a flint tool, which is made by combining a stick and a piece of flint which can be found on the ground as the form of little rocks.

Yep. Most of the issues people mention, I try to recreate myself.
It has to have something above it in order to work and it has to be connected to a vertical support.
Huh.. So I found out you can legitimately get glass in this mod. While you can't make a furnace out of the cobble you find in dungeons, if you're lucky enough to find a village that has a blacksmith, you can take the furnaces and use them as normal.

May I see a picture of where/how you're trying to do it?

You have to make sure they're connected to the vertical supports. Build a vertical support up until one block before the ceiling, then put the horizontal support on top of it. Also know that you can't put the horizontal supports any further than 4 blocks from the vertical support. You will have to put another vertical support down before you can continue.
