My current project is a castle made with sandstone and acacia. With 1.8 came very poor framerate so it's only with the release of early editions of Optifine that the game has been playable. One of the rooms in the castle is called a drawing room. Drawing rooms are where people went for entertainment. I don't know if they were present in medieval castles, which Castle Youssarian is modeled after, but that's alright. The dirt blocks are placeholders - I intend to add bookshelves and a wall frame later on. I'm woefully lacking in leather right now.
What you see there is a painting, a drum kit, a guitar, and a place to sit.
While I'm at the castle, here's a picture of the throne room/dining hall.
Hey guys! I've been playing Minecraft for several years. Right now I'm on what I guess you could call "season 4" with this being my fourth main Survival map. I don't really like keeping it all to myself, so I figured I'd share what I'm doing in Minecraft. I play Survival, modded only for minimaps.
Right now my main house is a sandstone build in the desert. It also incorporates acacia and granite. I'm pretty proud of it, as it features a new take on making things that look good in the game.
I think it looks pretty neat from a distance.
First floor. The granite's kinda grown on me.
Second floor is kind of bare. I could fill it up with a couple tables or whatnot.
For this map, I'm allowing myself to use command blocks for teleportation. Nothing kills my motivation quite like having to spend five or ten minutes walking around my map. I have a teleportation hub that needs to get built - that's for another post.
I'm using the A2 alpha, and Minecraft 1.8 is finally playable for me. Granted I'm sitting at around 15 FPS but considering I couldn't move without it looking like a slideshow, that's an upgrade I'll gladly take.
I've seen a lot of videos for sorting items using minecarts. I want to use one of these but on a large scale, basically a chest (or two) for each block and item in Minecraft. The problem is that I'm not planning to put all the chests in one huge straight line, but rather sections so I can build my storage room based on what I need to store over time. This has the consequence of the minecarts becoming really slow at moving things to their proper chests. This is the prototype for my current system. As the storage room grows in size, the carts are going to take longer and longer to do their work.
I realize that I could also use hoppers instead of carts, but it would require an incredible amount of time to get the iron needed for all that.
Yeah the anvil can repair things up to 39 (40?) levels.
Tbh I was originally against the apparent simplification of the enchantment system. But now that I think about it, once you're far enough along the game that you can enchant tools a lot, do you really want to spend unnecessary amounts of times building up levels, doing guesswork with enchantments, etc.? You'd probably prefer to be working on what you're building.
Right now I'm in the process of developing a specific set of tools, weapons, and armor with high level enchantments. So far I've been taking the long and arduous method of enchanting a lot of low level books and combining them into my desired enchants, then putting it on the tool via anvil. I'm starting to wonder if this is the best route.
As I see it, there are three ways I could go about doing this:
1. Keep doing what I'm doing now - do a lot of low-level enchanting and build up to the enchantment I want. This lets me build up a collection of books for multiple tools - I may get smite instead of efficiency, but I can save the book for when I want to enchant a sword. But this is also very time consuming, goes through a whole lot of books, and requires hours of grinding. (I use a skeleton farm.)
Suppose I wanted to make a pick with Efficiency V, Unbreaking III. This would need 16 books to get to Eff V and 8 books for Unb 3, and hundreds of levels.
2. Make the tool I want to enchant, and run a level 30 enchant on it. This tool will be partially enchanted with what I want. Then enchant books until I can make the desired enchantment. The main disadvantage is that I could end up with 5 pickaxes geared toward Eff5 Unb3 when what I really want is a Silk Touch pick.
With my Efficiency V, Unbreaking III book, I might do a level 30 enchant and get a pick with Eff3 and Unb3. Then I need to enchant a lot fewer books to get to my goal.
3. Explore. Enchanted books can be found in chests around the world.
What's the best thing for me to do? One of these? None of these?
A family member of mine has recently desired to buy a Minecraft account. But everything we've tried has proved impossible. Let me give you a roughly chronological order of events.
First, she bought a Green Dot card from Walgreens, priced at $30. She is logged in under her Mojang account. We start with the Green Dot card. All the information is filled out correctly but no matter how many times the info is submitted, we get the error: "Unable to complete transaction, make sure credit card details are correct and try again. If problem persists please come back and try later."
Next we try going through my PayPal account. We attempt to move the money to my PayPal account. Some way or another the card became associated with my account. When I look at my PayPal balance, it's a little under a dollar. But when I try to purchase Minecraft using my PayPal, the Green Dot card shows up in the list of things being used to pay for the card. Or something like that. Maybe this step is taking a very long time, we're brought to a processing page back on the Minecraft site. If this transaction is actually taking place, who knows. When I look at my PayPal history, I see that each attempted transaction with the Green Dot card is Denied by PayPal.
What's more, I keep getting the "Unable to complete transaction" message on three other debit/credit cards. None of these options are working.
I'm pulling out my hair. I don't know what else to do.
Still going... I was considering making a fancy build once I finished all the goals but I've changed my mind. I also don't know if I'm going to bother getting the enderpearls.

It's pretty much kickstarted my entire map. Best thing since the cobble stone generator was built! Only problem is, no way of collecting spider drops. So the wool is going to be a challenge.

Hey folks! After not touching Minecraft for a month or so, I decided to try SkyBlock after watching YouTuber Pakratt0013 play a Feed the Beast version of it. I figured that having some goals to work toward would make the game fun again. And it has.
I play on Peaceful mode because I'm more of a casual gamer who just wants to build. In case of deaths or stupid mistakes I will go into Creative mode to reclaim vital items - such as the bucket, or the melon slice we get at the start. No point in ending a game prematurely due to one dumb blunder. I also used Creative to get the bed in the picture. I got annoyed with the inability to spawn on the island very quickly.
Of the challenge list, I have completed the following:
1) Build a Cobble Stone generator.
3) Expand the island.
4) Make a melon farm.
5) Make a pumpkin farm.
One thing I want to do is get the basics done with. Then I want to make a more fancy skybase. I'm looking at hopefully creating something large with a generally ring structure to it.
Great guide! I have one suggestion however. Could you maybe add a guide that shows a bit about dimension? Like, not just having a one block thick wall that looks boring, you know? Thanks!
I'm not the OP but I've been dabbling in it a bit myself. Here's a little tutorial I've written for it. Also, here's a post where I put the principles to use. Hopefully this'll help out.
