I dislike the new patcher. It doesn't work with Optimine 100% (the mod loader over-writes one of optimine's class files) and the process for including custom grass textures takes longer than any other minecraft related thing I've done to date besides making my own tweaks to a texture pack.

The default grass texture is ugly and replacing it is a royal PITA. See below for how to replace it for a 32x32 texture pack only.

If you would be using modloader, then you will want a separte folder wildGrass with each individual 32x32 png file inside, look for it in minecraft.jar after patch.

That said drag and drop these alternative grass files into the right spot. 32x32 support only.

edit: Basically I am just bitching because minecraft needs official modding support. :VV:

    VERSION 8! stability returns!

I am happy to say, that I have returned my mod back to normal, only this time there are lily pads.
Since there are a lot less classes, it will be much easier to manage, with a lot less bugs! Thank you all for bearing with me through the 7.0 experiments!

I just wanted to say that I love your mod and beyond optimine and a texture pack of choice, wildgrass finishes everything off nicely.

Can't live without my grass! Thank you for being so persistent and putting up with the terrible MC forums with the patience of a saint.

Okay, I really want to use this mod but I need to know one thing first: How the hell do I open up the minecraft.jar file? That's the one thing you don't explain.

    winrar

posted a message on people don’t know everything
I landed into someone for not posting any info about their problem and ending their post with:

    "Any thoughts?"

Granted I should have said something like: "We have no real information about your problem so we cannot help you." but the sheer level of idiots posting OMG HELPS!!!!11 or little ungrateful people basically yelling at the hard working modders of the game saying "Your stuff is broken FU!" sets me on edge.

Not reading the original post is no excuse to crap post in a thread! I could understand if a thread was as old as time itself or if the OP was massive but so far I haven't seen anything like this.

Take the thirty seconds to read the OPs people and a futher minute or two to follow those instructions. If you have to ask for help be polite about it and for the love of god don't post: 1) I GET BLACK SCREEN 2) ITS BROKE 3) IDEAS?!?!?

    Optimine
    Johnsmith Textures
    Wild Grass

The holy trinity of mods for an amazing minecraft experience. You made my morning and I was late to work because I was too happy playing with the grass again. Thank you.

Yeah, **** off. I did that, except I used 7-zip. Otherwise I wouldn't have posted.

If you had an ounce of brain matter you would realize that without explaining the process that you used to arrive at the Black Screen of Doom your "any thoughts" cry for he;lp means absolutely nothing and is inherently impossible to troubleshoot!

I also believe you're a liar or you installed mods that mess with the class files optimine modifies in which case you will get a nice lovely BSoD.

Something to try while I am pissing off: Do a fresh Install of minecraft, then optimine. Load minecraft. Then proceed to install mods and check after each step to find the mod in conflict.

Oh boy sounds like a lot of work so I can't expect you to do any of it. Any thoughts?

    Any thoughts?

Since I am not the author of the mod I am going to say what he wants to:

    "You're retarded."

Now with that insult out of the way have you tried the following?

    1. Backup your saves/textures/whatevers
    2. Delete your entire minecraft folder
    3. Re-run minecraft with a fresh install
    4. Backup Minecraft.jar
    5. Open Minecraft.jar drag and drop mod files into Minecraft.jar with winrar
    6. Install other mods/texture packs
    7. AND FFS delete Meta-INF!!!!1

hello this looks good but i have the betterlight mod so this is incompatible with that mod? anyway to fix it? thx for answer me and sorry for bad english :Pig:
    Quote from CyborgDragon »
There is an incompatibility with BetterLight, but this is easily fixed by patching with BetterLight after installing this mod.

Install this mod first and then others afterwards. If any mods change any of this mod's class files (f.class is commonly used for instance) you will get a blackscreen so pay attention what files your other mods modify.

edit: VVV Betterlight destroys fps. To a lesser degree so does the popular Wildgrass. VVV

Why does higher clouds have to use the f.class? Your mods are the best mods.

    Non sarcastic install instructions:

    1) Backup your saves
    2) Open Minecraft.jar with winrar
    3) Drag and drop those two files into Minecraft.jar (you will not be prompted about overwriting anything)
    4) Reinstall any texture packs with patcher if needed.
    5) Open minecraft and enjoy.

If you crash delete minecraft and repeat the above steps without messing up like a massive idiot.

    Thanks! :RedShroom:

This really boosted Minecraft for me thankyouthankyouthankyou.

i learned from minecraft not to stay up every single night

This only took me two weeks to figure out! :--+:

    What I learned:

    *That I really like Minecraft
*That I really hope the new team works well and produces good work
*That I really hate crashes in the Nether
*That SSD technology isn't quite there yet (Yes I looked at SSDs for minecraft...)
*That that "lake" can be a trickle of water. It is hard to tell from the top of a mountain. AKA Look before you Leap.
*That I would die at the keyboard if adventure mode plays out anything like a good rogue-like.

    Basically, I really like Minecraft!
