Wow...I hadn't actually thought of using enderpearls to craft weapons, this could be pretty interesting.

posted a message on What do you want populating NPC Villages?
    Humans.

One of the main reasons why I don't even play Minecraft anymore is because of the fact that I am the only human in this massive world. I can build whatever I want, but there is no one else there to enjoy it with me. SMP can be fun at times, but it's somewhat annoying trying to build with some of the people around you (who are complete idiots in most cases).

I just want to shack up in an NPC village, probably help to protect them from the other mobs as well.

Personally, I'd rather have horses implemented. I would also like to be able to craft bigger boats. That way, I would have the ability to let the horse on, let a couple of wolves on, maybe put a chest and a bed as well. If the oceans are going to be as big as they say, I'd need a temporary base of operations.

Okay, that was off topic. So, for cars, I'd say no.

    Very nice.

The Endermen seem to be much more capable than I thought; teleporting behind the player to score a hit is quite clever.

You're awesome at trying to subtly shift the discussion into your favor by ignoring parts of my sentences.

I'm done repeating myself to someone who can't even read what I'm saying, let alone comprehend it in a manner that would allow him to properly reply to it using logic and normal human thought processes.

Oxymoron of the century, seriously. I'd rather you continue, this thread is somewhat enjoyable.

    Quote from Smashingzwan
And for the record. Anyone with 1/4 of a brain knows that you'd be glad to become a moderator for these forums. That's why you prance around acting like one.

So, you make some invalid point, I shoot it down. You change the subject, make another invalid point, I also shoot that down. You blatantly lie, and when I call you out on it, you change the subject and pretend to be the bigger man by limping away with your tail between your legs.

Come on now kiddy, you can do better than that.

At least this topic has livened up a little bit.

    Quote from Smashingzwan

You told dude he had no business posting a thread concerning the endermen (like thousands of others have done).

Yes, because there are already multiple threads discussing the exact same thing with much better content. Jesus Christ, how many times do I have to repeat myself?

    Quote from Smashingzwan
You imply that he should just be content to post in the 1.8 endermen discussion thread (even though thousands of others are not).

No, I "implied" that he should be content with posting in any of the other 10+ Endermen threads. "Jesus Christ, how many timed do I have to repeat myself?"

    Quote from Smashingzwan
I told you that you you should stop acting like forum moderators and imply that people should be allowed to post what they want as long as it fits the theme of the forum.

Once you've looked up the definition of the word "update," look up the definition for the word "spam."

    Quote from Smashingzwan
You go on to say that you're not acting like forum moderators (You still haven't proven that).

You've just failed, and you've just lied.

    Quote from Smashingzwan
You then go on to call me an idiot when I try to reexplain to you why I think you're acting like a wannabe moderator.

Yes. Hell, I'd gladly be a moderator of this forum. You never mentioned me being a "wannabe moderator," you were replying to SabbyKat.

    Quote from Smashingzwan
    And *I* am the idiot.

    ...yes.

    Anything else? Seriously.

So the 1.8 update discussion forum should just die except for the stickied posts?

    No. Answer:

There is no need to post yet another thread with information that has already been discussed multiple times in multiple threads, especially when one of those threads is stickied.

Why even have a 1.8 update forum?

Do a simple Google search for the definition of the word "update."

    Quote from Jkowltalon

Ok, so i just joined the minecraft forums, and im really happy to be here. Today I will be talking about the new 1.8 mob, the Endermen. The average Endermen is 3 blocks tall, with a skinny and nonathletic figure. Black skin and ghostly white glowing eyes makes this mob the last thing you want to encounter on a night build/dungeon. They are nicknamed "The Whispering Death" because when you have your back to them, they will whisper and steal blocks, and if they are close enough, try to kill you! But as soon as you spin around to look at them, they will gaze back with their beady eyes, frozen in their position. I have just explained about everything I know about the Endermen, and if anyone else has any more info on the mob, please link your comment to the topic. Thank you all and peace out.

    -Jkowltalon

    This is not an update.

Making an entirely new thread to discuss the same thing that we've been discussing for weeks now in multiple threads, and also failing to provide any new/relevant information is not an update. Especially when this section of the forum was made specifically for discussing an upcoming version of Minecraft.

If you really cannot see the logic behind that, or still feel the need to post new (and irrelevant) threads on old subjects (when there are already multiple threads with much better content), then there is nothing else that I can say to you.

    ...no.

We also shouldn't be creating new threads to discuss something that, once again, has been/still is being discussed and mulled over in 10+ other threads. There is no need to close the other threads that you've mentioned, there is also no need to create another thread that provides no new information.

I really don't think Notch is going to have Endermen drop diamonds in the final product. Think about it: on your first night, you could go out, lure in an Enderman, lead him to water, and boom. Diamond. Do that again and again all night, and you can get a huge amount of diamonds, just on your first night alone.

    Exactly.

I hope they don't drop diamonds. Judging by the videos that have been posted, Endermen aren't particularly hard to kill. Diamond farming would be far too easy.

posted a message on Should the enderman look more creepy?
    Quote from shadow_dragon

How can they look more creepy?

They personify a lot fo what people fear. They've got elongated limbs, they're more or less shadows. The whole design plays on peoples fear of the dark. They appear to have a personality of sorts and a malevolent sense to them if they can move blocks about and the way you have to provoke them in a manner to get them to come after you has a very "Don't stray from the path!" or "Don't talk to strangers!" feel about it.

Imagine mining into a cavern, dumping a torch down and suddenly realising you've got several of them right in front of you but you couldn't see them in the dark.

Now every shadow and crevice can creep you out in minecraft, everytime you turn round quickly and see a slight shadow, it might be this guy. The game NEEDS a mob that plays on this imo and it'd be no more creepy if it was a different colour.

I agree. The Endermen are meant to be more of a psychological foe. We already have the "brute force" types of creatures (such as the Creepers). Changing their color to anything else would definitely detract from their "mysterious" persona. What I personally like about them is that they just "feel" (strange wording for a video game, I know) malevolent. Even before you look at them, while they are still in their passive state (mulling around, randomly picking up blocks), they just ooze the feeling of dread, like it is a creature that you know nothing about, but would also like it to stay that way.

You know, I was almost certain you were going to say that (it's always 12 and 14 year olds, rarely 13 year olds).

You are not a troll; the tactics used by real trolls are much more effective (not to mention they are much more intelligent).

    Quote from Nureku

Well, considering Endermen teleport if they cannot reach you ( Too far or not traversable) They teleport a few blocks away in your line of sight. So you could /home back to your base only to have him appear in front of you seconds later.

From what I understand, the Endermen will be able to teleport once every second if they are out of sprinting distance of the player. That means that they won't be able to just teleport to you instantly; depending on how far away from them you are, it's going to take a few seconds. I'm assuming that once they are within sprinting distance (we still do not know how close/far that will be), the teleporting will stop and they will resort to running again.

So, in regards to my previous suggestion, the Endermen would be teleporting once every second on their way to your house, so it's not going to take them forever. It will take a couple of minutes though, depending on how far they are.

Sadly, Notch will probably make it so that Endermen just forget about you if you type /home.

well, if you're on SMP you could just use /home or something. . .

    Lol.

You know what I think would be cool? Say you are very far from your home, doing whatever, and you happen to find an Enderman (yes, singular) and **** him off. You type /home, but the Enderman continues its pursuit.

You know he is going to eventually reach your home, but it's going to take him a while (depending on how far away you were when you provoked him).

That, in my opinion, would be pretty freaking creepy.
