    posted a message on Custom block rendering
    I have a mod and I need to make a block that renders flat on the ground. Previously, I would use "setRenderType" or whatever it's called to render it like redstone. Unfortunately, in 1.0.0, redstone naturally renders as just a blob of red in the middle of the block, which obviously won't work for me if I want to see the whole block. How can I make my block render like it used to?

    I think the process should be similar for a mac or pc, but for a mac, just compress the files inside the folder (not the decompressed folder itself, but the .class files and stuff inside) into a .zip file. Then press Return like you would if you wanted to rename something, and change the name to minecraft and the extension to .jar. Your computer might give you a warning message about changing the extension, but just ignore it. The same basic rules apply to a pc, but for future reference, programs like mcpatcher work really well if you want to mod minecraft.

    I am still working on this mod, despite the fact that I haven't been posting much lately. Here's what I have done:

    1. I added a set of blocks called vectors. You craft two, and place them on opposite corners of an area to form a cube. Then, my mod will output a text file that has the data to build whatever is inside that cube. It's an easy way to create the formatted text files necessary for this mod.

    2. I have been working on perfecting the preference files so that you can place items in chests in houses more easily and efficiently.

    3. As I said earlier, I'm creating a physical interface that determines what house is built. When you place a house block, a 3x3 grid appears on the ground around the block. You can then place certain arrangements of blocks on that grid and right click the house block and the house that corresponds with that arrangement will be built.

    I am still finishing up on a lot of things, and I haven't added many text files to the program, so the update will not come out right when 1.9 does, but it take too much longer.

    Just updated! Way overdue, I know. I took away pretty much every house cause I'm starting from scratch with a new system. I will be adding the houses back in over the next couple of weeks/months. Right now you can experiment with the custom house interface! Read the ReadMe for more info.

    Make sure your minecraft jar isn't modded, then try again. In fact, delete the bin folder then play minecraft to redownload it, then use that jar. If you want modloader though, you can mod that into the jar and then decompile.
