Umm, so I downloaded this map to try after seeing Wolv21 and crew do it, or at least try to. They ended up cheating a few times, lol. Thought it was a good watch though, and had to try it.

Anyway... I'm in level 2 right now, I had to skip the piston wall, I don't get it. Is there a trick or something to the timing? I can not for the life of me get across it. I ended up just skipping it and going on to the ice jumps.

I finally made it to the ice chute that shoots you through the sun in the wall, but umm I can't get it. I am playing version 1.0.0, however, so I am wondering if the latest update doesn't let that happen where you go shooting off like that.

Anyway, I'm about to go onto level 3, thanks for the map. I learned how to parkour today in Minecraft, as this was my first parkour map ever. Lots and lots and lots of frustration at first, but now I'm getting it. Later!

I don't know who's told you that it's not working on WinXP, but I just played it an hour ago. Note: I run WinXP (32-bit). Yup.

So far it seems me rolling back my video driver has helped me. I think there might be a performance bug on Nvidia's latest video driver for my card or operating system.

Sooo... if any of you Nvidia users out there are having problems with randomly locking up during play (not crashing) and you have to restart the game, I recommend try going back a driver version or two from the most recent release, to see if that fixes the problem. As long as you know what you are doing, of course.

I guess the page file usage is just something the JVM does with the memory options that I've never noticed before because I've never really had reason to look.

    Good luck, all!

Edit: Oh, I'm still experiencing the crash at about 1.2G mem usage bug, but at least I'm not having to deal with both now. For what it's worth.

Dont think thats the problem. When I play Minecraft I ONLY have Minecraft running.

Hey are you using the most recent Nvidia driver? I'm assuming so. I actually had that problem after updating my driver, and so far haven't had it again since reverting back to my older graphics driver.

I haven't played a lot since then, so I can't guarantee that's what caused the problem, but I'm pretty sure that it was the problem because that's when it started (when I updated for Skyrim).

Try installing one or two drivers previous to the most up to date, and see if that helps you at all. I think there is something wrong with the latest, if I am right anyway.

This is a sign that your video drivers are buggy (leaking native memory). Do you have the latest drivers from your vid card manufacturer's web site?

    This:

    is caused by this:

Xms says give me 1GB and give it to me NOW. This is your minimum heap size. Xmx is your maximum heap size.
So with this batch file your observed behavior is completely to be expected.

Yes, I downloaded them from Nvidia's website. Guess I'll have to see if I can revert or something since I updated it for Skyrim.

I even changed the Xms option to be lower so that it would start with less memory ready for allocation by the JVM.

You may be right about it being the video driver though, because I did update that right around the time that I installed Skyrim and started having these problems. I'll look into it and let you know if I can. Thanks for replying, btw :smile.gif:

Going to bump this a single time, since I was pushed down by a lot of repetitive threads of common problems.

Please people, if you see this check your page memory usage in the Task Manager and see if you are getting high readings, such as 800MB+ and etc! This could possibly need to be addressed as a critical performance bug or tweak if a majority of people have this problem.

Thank you, hopefully this thread can get some confirmation one way or another!

Oh, just wanted to note that with the client and server running together, my page file usage tends to be about 2.5G in size. Still playing around trying to track this problem down :sad.gif:

Solved: I had recently updated my video card's driver for Skyrim, and that most recent nvidia driver actually was the cause of my problem. Rolling back my driver fixed my problem!

    ---
I have recently updated to Minecraft 1.0.0 and also started running the latest server on my LAN here at home. Well, I've always had the problem where running Minecraft would consume memory until about 1.2G and then crash. That's nothing new, even if disappointing. However...

Recently, I've acquired another problem. When running the server or the game, my page memory usage jumps up dramatically and I can't seem to find anything about it on Google or etc. It's causing my game to lock up while playing and I have to restart the game about every 10 mins or fewer now and it's getting REALLY, REALLY frustrating.

I've even tried running the server through a batch file to increase memory and turn on incremental garbage collection, yet every time I run the server INSTANTLY the page memory jumps up to ~1GB usage when my OS normally keeps PF usage at about 450MB for system stuff, etc. I should also note that the server is running between a comfortable 100-250MB of RAM pretty consistantly, even though the page memory jumps up like crazy.

    @ECHO OFF
    "%ProgramFiles%\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -Xincgc -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.jar
    PAUSE

I've tried running both the executable and then the jar like shown above via that batch file, for those intererested in how I'm launching the server, and I will also post system specs at bottom of post.

Furthermore, I never noticed the page file thing before but I first remember the game locking up while running Pre-Release 4 for Beta 1.9; though, this was only AFTER I installed Skyrim via Steam. I've had problems with that game when running in outside areas where the game will freeze up for a few seconds occasionally; I've found out there is a bug for Skyrim on WinXP that locks up multi-core processors.

The reason I mention this is I noticed Steam updating DirectX and some other stuff while installing, so I'm wondering if that this somehow caused the problem (hopefully not), because that's when I first started noticing problems shortly after that. Though, it could be coincidental. If so... I'll be waiting for critical performance patches for both of my favorite games, uhhg!

Anyway, everyone please weigh in if you are having this problem, especially if on 32 bit systems, WinXP 32 or 64, and people who also bought Skyrim for WinXP and etc. Trying to figure out what is going on, because this is definitely out of the usual for me, but may have been limited to MC 1.0.0! Frustrating!!! :tnt: :angry.gif:

Thanks for listening and if anyone knows and can say for sure what is going on, a big thanks to you too!

I am also experiencing this. It gets to about the usual 1.2GB of ram before black screening to death. I guess at least it isn't a cliche blue?

It would be awesome if in the final version, any time exceptions/crashes are caught and managed, if it showed a screen with a creeper background and scrollable text with the error report. :SSSS:

BlackSheep has an interesting place near the spawn for any who are interested. It's like a miniature hidden world/valley kind of thing. Down through and under the moutain with grass below and two small water falls. Very unique and pretty place to start a home with cliff face access right there for mining...

    From Above:

    Down Below:

It's relatively close to the spawn. Just follow the edge where the desert and grass are to the mountain, pretty much. Should probably pass up a few small pools of water including one with a floating tree over it.

BONUS: I just discovered that there's also some tunnels that lead to other parts of the mountain base as well as another LARGE interior chamber with grass inside it as well. This place is just cool.

People, right after being blown up by a creeper on my single player game. I found this weird inspiration to suddenly quit my game, and make a new world with the seed: DEATH_BY_CREEPER, make sure it's all caps and underscored. Do it if you love winter wonderlands. IT'S EVERYWHERE, SO MUCH ICE AND SNOW.

Oh yeah, and there's also a small bit of clay right next to the spawn, as well. I love this seed so much because not only is it an amazing winter wonderland map, it's also a very classy and easy to remember seed.
