This may not be the same problem other people are having, but I had a folder I named "Mods" in the .minecraft folder. The older versions of Modloader had no problem with this, but the new one tries to load those mods. Here's a sample from the MCPatcher debug file:
Failed to load mod from "mod_EllianDetector.class".
Renaming the folder fixes the problem.
Thanks! That was my problem too. Was getting really annoyed, it be nice if that was mentioned somewhere.
Edit: Oops, was confusing 1.3 of the mod system and 1.03 of Minecraft. Anyway: Bit annoying it requires a unmodified minecraft.jar if you're going to start using it and it's required and that means mods that go into the minecraft.jar file won't work. If I'm getting that wrong and mods that don't use the MCP Mod System still work nevermind, but I liked the stand alone version just fine myself.

It was never updated for 1.3, so he's probably too busy. Anyone know of an alternative?
