You've got to understand though, a 3x3 texture for the ring would look really flat.... it would do more harm than it would good to lower the resolution of the ring. If it bothers you though, you can always lower the resolution yourself by modifying the textures.
Dinnerbone has already explained to you why tripwires are going to be added. You just have spent too much time whining about them to think about any good uses for them. They are much different from pressure plates, and I have already explained a few key uses of tripwires that wouldn't work using pressure plates.
So please, stop harassing Mojang staff, and stop making the community look bad.

That isn't caused by Rei's Minimap, it's caused by resource packs. Turn off any resource pack you may have, then turn it back on, worked for me.

This requires "Cheats" to be enabled. In most survival worlds, this isn't enabled as people want to play legitimately.

I would just like to say that this is WRONG. You can add stuff without modloader or forge, you just have to do it differently and edit baseclasses. But I'm sure there's a way of doing it that doesn't involve editing baseclasses.

Yes, this is normal. The "cave sounds" are not only supposed to play in caves. They place when you are close to at least a 4 blocks that are at light level 0 (which is usually a cave).
So if a creeper made a hole in the ground and you don't fill it up all the way, you may get cave sounds.

Because with forge, you can put the .jar file into the ".minecraft/mods" folder and doesn't require you to edit the minecraft.jar. Easy installation my friend.
Also, I'd like to say that my good friend CrazyPutJe is the master mind behind the official mod. I just spoke good(ish) English and had a pretty face.
