posted a message on Discussion on Fan Continuations
    I voted "Other"

My viewpoint on it, is that in the case of the artist not been active on the forum (I.E 3 months or more of being inactive like me)
and their license allows it, then fan continuations posted on the original thread are okay or if given permission that you can provide as proof (be it a PM, email or the author post it on his thread saying "I give permission for so and so to ....) but if the license does not allow it or the author did not include any form of license/copyright, then

"What happens to my beloved texture pack, i want to continue it but i want to make money for my hard work?!" or "what happens to my beloved texture pack, i want to continue it". Well unfortunately mostly nothing, as even with no type of license, there is usually copyright/intellectual laws in place stating that, unless specific licenses allow commercial profiting, the redistribution or the modifying/redistribution of the Intellectual property, and with no permission you cant technically (though this doesn't stop people trying) do anything

Whilst its important to please the fans/admirers of your artwork, which in this case is allowing them to do a continuation, or Mc. Forum adding a clause to the "Terms and Conditions", we have to consider the artists and their feelings do they want their work been butchered up or are they utterly overwhelmed by multiple responsibilities and/or personal problems?

This is the crux of the problem, how do you think Picasso who's passed away, would feel if the French government, art critics and the Picasso family gave permission for a world renowned artist to finish some of his works (as quite a few people believe that based on the overall finished look of some parts of his paintings and other parts that look half-done) we'll never know if they were painted like that on purpose or left because of his personal choices but it was his choice for it to be like that, now someone wants to change something he's done? he wouldn't be a happy camper that's for sure, art is a personal unique to only you not something that another point of perspective can deem wrong or unfinished (usually, unless never start your artwork and not end up finishing it, you misspell something or its specifically targets someone to shame them when they have done nothing wrong, as you can make art criticising someone like a....mafia boss?)

"If the said member posts, uploads or links original creative content project intended to provide the forum community to a Curse affiliate and/or to another Curse owned forum, then the said member, depending on the local copyright will give permission to members of the said forum, once given permission from either the Admins/Moderators/Supervisors or the community gives approval after a three month no activity period unless the absence is explained by the original author, then he/she may continue the project with the intentions of keeping to what it was created to do and with the style native to it and may redistribute the said project and only take credit for what happened when they were give approval of managing the project whilst crediting the original author for what they did in the time when in control of the project, no profits may be made when taking over and managing abandoned projects unless given to the author who mayor may not choose to share with you, in the event the author cannot be reached the only time money may be made is when the proceedings are given to a charity specified by either the original author, Admins/Moderators/Supervisors or chosen by the community via a consensus"

So what can you do if want to do a continuation of your beloved Texpack? replace the textures with something of your own design based of the original authors design, by "based on" i mean you incorporated the basic jist of it, not "copy+paste>recolor= Own design " if so then your good to go without needing permission since its only inspired

A crucial point though is if you somehow find out what country they live in and they have no license, check the local laws in that country and see if you can find a loophole or if they are the following:

Eritrea, Turkmenistan and San Marino have no C. laws . Afghanistan is currently making one so its still good, Somalia, Kiribati, Sao Tome and Principe, Tuvalu, Vanuatu and Nauru are unclear whether they offer any international C. laws so reasearch it before going ahead with a pack

Finally for any other countries its a good idea to check their C. laws for ways to legally proceed with making a continuations, sorry for the long post but its a issue i feel very strongly about

Ok i've tested the right click on every other program i have & it works, so that rules out the possibility of a broken touch pad, also with right click with the other brushes most of them have an effect when right clicking albeit its exactly the same but the height tool does nothing when right clicking, i'll get back to you on this after some monitoring
