your windows link is asking me to sign into google docs :s.
how is the server getting the files? if its anything other than direct from the mc official servers you maybe breaking t&c's
The link doesn't require sign in, that's what Google is telling me anyways. Yes it gets the files directly from Mojang servers, I wouldn't settle for anything less than that.
This software compilation will make running a server easy, and computer resource efficient. NEW MAC VERSION RELEASED! I finally got a hold of a Mac computer to try this out with, I fixed my horribly broken Mac files and have now released them.

Unzip/extract the software, most new operating systems can do this on their own, if yours can't then get 7zip from http://www.7-zip.org/ or Stuffit for older Macs http://www.stuffit.com/
Make a server folder and put the extracted files in there.
Run Start.bat for Windows, Start.command for Mac, or Start.sh for Linux
Enjoy an automatically updating server!
Type stop into the terminal, then press enter to turn off your server.
If you just want to play on your Local Area Network then congrats you're done! In order to play over the internet you'll have to configure your network to forward port 25565 to your server computer. I will not be providing support for network configuration.
If you have trouble with java not being found, reinstall java from http://java.com
