Very much this for laptop repairs the local school district will withhold diplomas ect but parents will fight it and if they bring it to court the legal costs can sometimes cost more then the part.

Overclocking does. Go search it up

Overclocking its self will have literly no effect on how long the CPU last.
Running at higher voltage can and so can overheating how ever the act its self of running any higher clocks will have such a little impact on life.

Magically going over 4.5ghz is not going to be any less or more effective then overclocking below that.
Many people with AMD Bulldozer processors run over 4.5ghz and don't get magical inefficiency from it.

Processors can run for a hella long time if left alone a slight reduction in life is minor from overclocking.
My CPU has had a 600mhz overclock running for a few years now and I runs fine.

Lol, I could care less about GHz. AMD just needs to improve IPC performance instead of just raising frequencies in hopes that they will do better than Intel. I just wonder how the next generation after Piledriver will perform since AMD has formally dropped out of the desktop market race with Intel.

AMD did not drop out of the desktop race with Intel they are just focusing on whats best for their APUs rather then pure CPU performance.
We already know PileDriver has an IPC improvement clock for clock without L3 and a worse memory controller its about 8% faster then bulldozer.
AMD is increasing clocks further too because they can its an easy way to increase performance.
The next generation SteamRoller will be the first big arch change sense bulldozer.

Only reason Motorola is doing this is to get a lot of money.

That's the only reason any big business does anything.

Part of the motivation might have been Google being sued by MS.

    Quote from Smuck

If this happens, Motorola will get boycotted and their stores would get torched down.

As I said early Google owns Motorola Mobility so you better stop using.

    Android
    Google Search
Firefox as its funded by Google
    Google Chrome
    Motorola phones
    Youtube
The internet as a whole because most adds are provided by Google.

Also I should have probably looked this up earlier
    Is Motorola suing Microsoft
or is Motorola Mobility suing Microsoft?

I am 90% sure its Mobility division as it has to do with radio communications.

put the heatsink, RAM, and graphics card on the motherboard before you put it in the case, makes it alot easier to install, and don't forget cable management, if you do it as your building instead of doing it after, it's 1000x easier then it would be otherwise

Other then the heatsink everything else is just as easy to attach to the motherboard tray assuming your case has one.
I don't see how attaching the GPU would be easier that way in fact to me it seems like it would be harder.

Where has it been said that Vishera will use the FM2 socket? I would assume that AMD will do the same as last gen and use the FMx socket for their APU's and the AMx socket for their CPU's. I find it very unlikely that AMD would only release one series of processor that uses the AM3+ socket.

Ok to clarify AMD said something to the effect they dislike having half their desktop cpus on a different socket and plan to come up with a solution in the future. Now that's not saying we will use FM2 100% but they have said nothing definite either way.

To me that seems like they would lean towards a FM2 socket to unify the platform.

There was also talk that because of the resonant mesh but according to the company that created the technology it does not require a different socket or something added.

But on the other hand AMD did cancel its highest end 10 core piledriver processing saying hyper transport could not feed the 10th core well if they were using a new socket why not crank up the hyper transports speeds for it. So that could be seen as they are still using AM3+

    Quote from megalopolis

I know what you meant. I think Intel is perfectly comfortable where they are right now, so until AMD actually challenges them, they wont develop anything APU like, because they don't need too.

AMD is pretty content with the profits they are making of the APUs because its keeping the company in the Green not to mention its graphics business.

Wait did that guy say current rumors that AMD is starting to make PileDriver uh is he stupid AMD has been making piledriver chips for months they are currently selling them AMD has said for a long time that Piledriver would be Q3 and AMD initially said FM2 THEY HAVE NEVER SAID ANYTHING About it being AM3+ deal with it AMD want its APUs and desktops processors on the same platform.

L3less PileDriver clock for clock is on average 7% faster then bulldozer.

Now sense Bulldozer never got L3 less version we have no idea how much the arch relies on it.

Piledriver being 7% faster is not enough at all to compete with Intel current generation let alone its next.

But lets for fun take a look at this.

The phenom 2 series saw about 20% gains in gaming with L3 vs without.

Encoding rendering photo editing on average saw 8% gains.

Now that might not seem like enough but PileDriver desktop version will have a 4.25ghz version that is quite a jump in clock speeds over bulldozer too.

Why would be bulldozer bad for gaming? I mean, if you over clock it won't it run very fast and the whole process of overclocking it is quite easy with the fx series. Plus, isn't the price pretty good?

Just because something clock high does not mean its faster.
    Price is terrible per performance.

He wants to play some low end games and do some minor video editing as long as he has a good processor and a good GPU would not hurt to accelerate the video editing.

As I said before Christmas is a long ways away IvyBridge should be out in laptops Trinity will also be out.

But If I was to recommend a laptop now this would be it.

I'm sorry but did you just say a 650M will take Bf3 at 1080P? The 650m may take Bf3 at 1080p with 100% motion blur on minimal graphics settings. The 6xx-675m chips aren't even Keplar based and are just rebranded 5xx series cards. You will NOT be playing Bf3 lagless, unless you want shitty graphics.

Doing a bit of research would not kill you. They are keplar based. They will run BF3 on the lowest settings but who cares Bf3 on low is still pretty dam good looking. Depending on the resolution of the laptop it can play up to high.

Lower the bit rate quality to what ever WMV uses and do the same for audio quality.
Also make sure its only 30fps.

Lowering the quality wont matter much most video sites compress videos quite a bit anyway.
