Actually nvm. I forgot that the 12.4 drivers allowed him to use the card. He should be able to use the newer drivers though, I don't see why AMD wouldn't have fixed the problems by now considering the newest drivers are 3 or 4 revisions ahead of 12.4.

    What problems?
I doubt this is something that has affected everyone other wise toms would have mentioned it because they rant he 7950 under the 12.7. Plus its not 3 or 4 revisions the second number is the month its released in and the first the year.

I don't think the small performance increase with the 7950 matters if he can't even use it.

and why can't he use it?

Wait whats with all the RMAs of 7950s...I think you should just go and grab a 660 Ti at this point xD

He is RMAing with the sole purpose to get the slower 660ti.

I do realize that when drivers are improved, the performance of the card will increase along with it.

Not really this is not a new arch Nvidia will probably get a bit more tweaks out of kepler but don't expect much the drivers on both sides are pretty mature at this point.

He does realizes the 660ti was just released and it is going to have shitty drivers.

I doubt it that really only happens with new series when they get an arch update.

Hmm I wonder if we will see a bios update for the 7870 enabling boost or is that something only the highend AMD GPUs get to have.

Probably because he just got it, has had many problems with AMD cards, and now the 660 Ti is basically a 7950 that's cheaper and made by Nvidia. With as many problems as he's had, RMAing it is probably a good choice.

Must of missed the thread where he had issues. Good luck returning it with the flashed bios btw.

Also everyone is using older drivers for the benchmarks while 12.8 made little difference they still should bother to run the newest drivers.
AMD recent bios update defiantly helped but the 7950 is going to have to have its price dropped.
Err and toms also neglected to use the 7950 bios update. Well they did but only in the OC review rather then at all the different resolutions ect.

    Hmm

Anyone notice a slight difference in the benchmarks.
Toms uses x16AF while Anandtech does not and they get wildly different numbers.
Toms mentions that higher AA settings tend to choke the cards smaller memory bus.
So this is something to take into consideration. But AMD has to drop priced before they can be compared.

To anyone getting a 660ti just overclock your memory a bit and you should be fine and should not take such a dip from the small memory bus at high AA settings.

    The 7950 costs 2.9$ for every % over a 580.
    The 660ti costs 2.8$ for every % over a 580.

Even with toms benchmarks showing the weakness of the 660ti it is still a pretty dam good deal.

Really, I sure as hell didn't know that... Only thing I ment was that the APU-term is not any marketing trick. CPU is CPU, APU is CPU and GPU combined. Different thing.

Well even AMDs current APU the GPU and CPU are for the most part very separate. Intels are about as separate as you can be.

Ok, after a second driver fusion sweep, I no longer have the previous page button for my downloads folders, or any folders! Help?
EDIT: I don't get the check mark thing, I get this stupid question mark and it says "Installation complete (warnings occurred during installation) View log for details"

The previous page button only works when you move to different folders in the same windows.

Ignore the warning I get it too it could be some minor that's not important mine works in all games currently.

Not sure which is 1 or 0.
    But the flashing worked.

You must have had it in the right position as position 2 is the backup bios and 1 is the flashable bios at least its this way on the 6 series.

Also so did the drivers work did they give and error and what exactly did that error say.

I used driver fusion, like I always do.

What specific error message is it giving you?

Forgot to mention this but you did set your bios switch to setting 1 when you flashed it.

What do you mean does not recognize it.

Did you properly clean your drivers?
