So I am adding lots of custom music in my server pack, but with 4 songs it's already reached 22MB. So I am wondering, what's the hard maximum that Minecraft sets for a resource pack size, and what's the soft maximum where it becomes so big that it may bother players.

Hello,
Here is my plan for a standalone modpack called APICraft.
APICraft will have 3 core principles:
Create:
Adding items, entities, behaviors, etc
Amend:
Changing values of items, entities, etc
Remove:
Removing items, entities, behaviors, etc
These will be commands runnable by OP (if server) or cheat-allowed (if single-player).
Here are some examples:
Adding an item called "Ruby":
/apicraft create item id:"ruby" pubName:"Ruby"
/apicraft amend item ruby texture http://cdn.myserver.net/textures/ruby.png
Now you will be able to do (through default minecraft commands):
/minecraft:give NateIsPineapple ruby 1
Adding a mob called "Friendly Slime":
/apicraft create entity id:"friendlySlime" pubName:"Friendly Slime"
/apicraft ammend entity friendlySlime texutre http://cdn.myserver.net/textures/fslime.png
Now you will be able to do (through default minecraft commands):
/minecraft:summon friendlySlime
I will update this thread as we come up with more ideas, and as development progresses. Currently looking for help in development.
