CPU I'd change to an AMD if I were you. I got the AMD FX6300 for my rig. As opposed to your quad-core 3.4GHz, it's 6-core, 4.1 GHz, and cost £80 (~$100 cheaper than the CPU in your set up). They seem to be more geared towards gaming builds as well, whereas Intel are more work station processors.
Core speed and clock count aren't everything for a cpu. The intel one he has selected is actually a fair bit more powerful than yours, especially when overclocked.
Anyways, @OP
Get cheaper memory, speed makes bugger all difference.
Swap out the h100i for an NH-D14 cooler by noctua, keeps temps about the same, just as quiet (or more so with the stock fans on the h100i) and cheaper.
Move the power supply down to a quality 650w instead of the 750w. Unless you're going SLI in the future there's no need for a 750w one honestly.
Rethink your choice of keyboard and mouse too, the keyboard is just tacky and not worth the price while the mouse has some quality issues - from my experience with the mamba and deathadder they tend to die pretty quickly. I actually really liked the deathadder apart from the build quality. If you don't mind buying a new mouse every year or less then go ahead but it's something to keep in mind.
Consider changing the monitor to an IPS display, much better quality colours and viewing angles. Little bit more pricey though. (but worth it IMO)
Both would be good for producing music as they have a 'relatively' flat sound signature. Both under $150 too. Sony's have slightly nicer mids but the bass isn't quite as punchy as the M50's (still very nice though). They are however $50 cheaper and they sound very, very comparable.
Best price/performance for any gaming laptop and they actually have good cooling.
Also not being embarrassed to take it to uni because it's not covered with glowing alien heads and dragons and things is another advantage too - most sagers/clevos are straight black or grey and look quite professional.
TY for the presents, should sate me till my birthday.
This should become a thing though, every second pagemaster gets to choose something that people can draw (or not draw if they don't want to). It would be like a super casual challenge to hone our masterful drawing skills.

I almost exclusively use my left foot to brake. Some people think it's weird, but really it's the better way of driving as it gives you more time to react and provides better car control. For some reason the overwhelming majority of people still press both the gas and brake with their right foot. (You've got two feet, why not use all of them!)
Because manual cars.
If you're only ever going to be driving an auto it's fine but getting into a manual car with a clutch is gonna give you trouble. Plus you get fast enough at reacting with one foot anyways and not accidentally pressing the accel down while breaking is also a good thing.
This thread always becomes so strange on April Fools day.
I can't tell who is serious and who isn't D:
Well, today is the Brimstone 2 year anniversary, I was going to do a remake of it in honor of this, but I didn't. I am probably going to do a livestream celebration or something though.
AND YOU'RE NEVER GOING TO KNOW UNTIL THEY STOP SHOWING UP. SPOOKY.
Happy Brimstone though! You should livestream Bluebird stuffskies or that HD stuff you recently worked on.
EDIT: Page claimed by me. Your challenge is to draw me a present!
Well since everyone is laying on the bad news I may as well join in...
Think I'm going to be taking a rather large break from MC (and making textures for it) after 1.8 drops. Been pretty bored with the game for a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time now and well, uni is getting more busy (hence why I've not been posting much the last couple of weeks) and I've also started to get a bit bored with it all (texturing). I know it will pass as it has happened before and the break I took helped my creativity and motivation immensely and I'll definitely keep updating the pack, I just won't be popping in to show off new textures or anything. I'll mostly just be hanging around in the background and making sure I'm up to date with each update as it comes out.
Still post from time to time here too just probably nowhere near as much as I used to. Sorry guys!
Not april fools btw.
In a slightly related note, once I've done my two maths tests (will have done them both by wednesday week) I'll probably come in and dump a lot of stuff I've neglected to post like the 3 things I made for the apocalypse challenge, my work on horsies, new dirt + ctm, etc.
After that I'll be starting my little holiday and lurky lurk.
I think you could work on blending this in and out a bit more. Everything seems to kick in and back off incredibly quickly which is very jarring and strange to listen to.
Also better volume control on some of the instruments would be nice too, some stick out like a sore thumb (even if they're meant to stick out, they stick out far too much)
Yup, still busy with uni atm. Got a maths test this thursday as well as another next week and going to get a lab report next week to do too.
Gonna have a break after that though so I'll post some more pictures of some stuff I've done. Just been working very quietly but I have been making some progress with dirt ctm, some colouring changes and horse textures.
Sorry for the silence though guys, just a little bit more to go now.
1055t @ 3.5ghz stock volts
1666mhz 8gb
standard gigabyte 880ga board
intel rs2mb044
intel 520 120gb for boot
6-10 hard drives (i honestly forgot havent opened my pc in months) in raid
asus 7970 directcu ii
fractal design r something
thermaltake 750w psu, and thermaltake 450w psu
I remember your ghetto mounting of that extra psu. Apart from that it's just a solid pc, little old cpu-wise but still decent.
Are you sure that the 750w psu isn't enough? Hard drives really don't take that much power...
Small avatars like mine upscale to a certain minimum size which makes it looks blurry and terrible, the main section where you select which thread to click on looks rather clunky compared to the current version - the icons to the left are very bland and the thread titles only seem to spread across half the available space which clutters things up. Also the plain white background makes it kinda fatiguing to look at.
Titles across half available space:
On the plus side, I like the new location for quoting, replying, etc. and the new editing looks really nice and well thought out.

Something about this thread is attracting people who have no idea what they're talking about to necro it. It should really be locked.
