what is the point of this?

    just play some minecraft

So, you came into the fan art section, specifically to read people's stories that they enjoy writing, just so you can tell us to play some minecraft? No, I think you actually ENJOY reading stories, but can't seem to fathom the fact that stories aren't written in a matter of a couple hours.

I sincerely doubt you came into this thread just to tell me to play minecraft.

    1. Coal, gold I got REALLY lucky here. There was lava litterally 2 blocks away from my 1*1. (I could hear the lava, and dug for it)
    2. Iron, Iron, Redstone
    3. Iron, Redstone
    4. Coal, ravine(30 block drop)
    5. Iron, Redstone
    6. Massive cave system full of creepers, zombies, skeletons, iron and coal. No ores in the shaft.
    7. Coal, Iron, went right next to a cave that had 6 diamonds in it. I lived, but was it still a good idea? No.
    8. Hit a cave full of redstone, and iron. BARELY missed some lava again.
    9. Hit the same cave twice. 3 diamonds, tonnes of iron, tonnes of coal, redstone and lapis.
More creepers, more skeletons, more zombies, more spiders. Long drop into caves. (20 blocks) You'd most likely die.
    10. Coal, iron.

Now, I would have died twice. On the ones that I actually got NICE things. I also missed 7 diamonds using this method.

Is it safe? Usually, is it smart? No. Is it effective? No.

Digging straight down is actually fairly efficient in terms of mining. But risky. You might get tons and tons of diamonds, then you fall down and land in lava. Yay! But actually, digging straight down is safe if you're equipped. Fire resistance armor?

It takes less than 8 minutes to dig straight down 128 blocks.

    CoughCough

Not ALL of us have fire resitance potions or armor though. Ever wonder WHY we need diamonds? :smile.gif:

10 diamonds. I usually find about 400 iron ores before I get any diamonds...

Griefed. I don't give a **** if I'm griefed. My chests contain nothing important to me. I take my important stuff with me and put it in chests whenever I'm gonna do something dangerous. Then retrieve it on the way out again. And I never build nice houses unless I'm in SSP.

5 lightning creepers. Damn right. I've killed 2 lightning creepers with just my fist and no armor and won. They're suprisingly easy. Put down 1 block on the ground, get lightning creeper on other side, let it blow up. Just before it blows, run back as far as you can. That 1 block will protect you lol. Plus, it's always more fun to have a harder challenge.

NEVER SAID I HAD TO ACTUALLY KILL THEM! :biggrin.gif:

@above I'd rather have the 1 tree and many diamonds. That tree will drop saplings. Sure, I may have to look for the tree, but in the end I'd be far more prosperous.

@above I'd rather have an enderman following me around... I already do.

Would you rather grief somebody's entire house, and be banned, or steal everything from somebody's chest and not be banned?

A good start. You need to sit down first and plot down your story, characters, important events, etc beforehand to make your story interesting, fun and grippingly good. Set yourself apart from the other stories and do something different! IF you are going to post stories at least try and make them a bit longer and a bit more gripping so that people will then come back to read more! Hope this helps.

Well said sir, however I prefer not to plan my stories, but rather have a general idea of where the story will go, and work at it in that direction. I feel it gives it a bit more of a realistic view-point, rather than a view that's carved into stone.

However, if a new area must be introduced, or a character introduced, I do take time to get the description done properly. Of course, that's nearly a requirement when writing stories.

Mm, well if you make any notable progress upload another video. :smile.gif:

I'd go and try some stuff, but I really don't care for reeds lol. Seeing cool redstone contraptions though, well, that's inspiration.

You could also have the pulse sent by the redstone torch go to an RS-NOR latch, causing a redstone torch to be permanently on, until you go into the room and loot the fallen items.

Also, I'm sure there is a way to get this fully automated with water, I just can't think of any way quite yet. Good job though!

Aside from my sarcastic rage that I actually don't mean. (Aside from use would, instead of will) This made me laugh my ****ing ass off. And I love you now. The author of that book seems rather, erm, dumb. Incompetent, stupid, intellectually deficient, all of the above?

Stand next to where you wish to place your 1*1 hole of digging.
Dig down until you can't dig down anymore. Jump down, place a ladder at the bottom wall.
    Stand on ladder.

posted a message on What are the 2 blocks that look best together?
    Bedrock and glowstone? -.-

    Well...
    1. It depends greatly on whether you are in SP or MP.
In SP, it depends on your texture pack, while on MP it depends on the default texture pack.

    2. It depends greatly on what you are building. In this case, a castle.

    3. It depends greatly on what STYLE you wanna build with.

For an old castle, that's falling apart I'd recommend cobblestone, Mossy cobblestone, stone bricks(Not many. Mainly cobble/mossy cobble) and vines.

For a castle in better condition, stone bricks, cobblestone and wood planks provide a nice colour scheme, as well as nice contrasting looks.

For a new age castle, well I'd say cobblestone, stone bricks, wood planks, wooden half slabs(To give the impression the floors are sinking after wear) and maybe some vines.

If you don't wanna use wool, your options are killed lol.
