posted a message on New redstone idea? (redstone noob)
No, they clump together when they're on a block. Not while they're falling, I don't believe.

    Nice idea though. :)

posted a message on How to accept a short pulse, and deny a long one?

or this... competition is healthy ;)

black is a falling edge detector, white is a pulse lengthener, orange is an and gate

edit: works with 20 ticks and 1 tick... 21 ticks doesnt... didnt test beyond that

^best answer here. Didn't bother working on mine all too hard though :P

Good job there, can't think of a way to make that the slightest bit smaller. (aside from just making everything closer)

Input would be on the button. Rearrange the and gates however you need them to.

I haven't tested this with 20 ticks yet, but it should work. And if it doesn't, it would only need some more adjustments to the timing.

Again, messy, but that's cause IDK how you need it arranged. Just a bunch of and gates, really... Pretty simple. Add or remove repeaters from the repeater line off the input block to adjust the timing.

posted a message on How to accept a short pulse, and deny a long one?

its late so maybe i am just tired and missing something obvious but i dont see how that only accepts a 1 tick pulse... that looks to me like it only ignores pulses between 2 and 10 ticks...

where is the output? if i knew where the output was it mat be easier to see how it works

Mm, I did miss that 10 tick thing. You are right there though, anything over 10 ticks it will take. My bad, but it isn't what he was looking for anyways.

Deny anything over 20 ticks, and accept anything below it. K, I've got an idea for this.

posted a message on I need a red-stone circuit that does... (details inside)
Hook a clock up to a monostable circuit, and take the output of the monostable circuit, put it into a locked repeater buffer.

When all the repeaters in the buffer are powered, take the output of the last one and disable the clock.
If you want it to run endlessly, take the output of the last repeater and disable the monostable circuit in any way you can (unpower the repeaters locking the original repeaters) and unpower the torch that's powering the locked repeaters directly.

If this is confusing, I can take a screenshot of the design I made for you.

This will allow 1 tick pulses through, and nothing else. If you pass an input through a monostable circuit, it will work fine. If you pass an input via a button, it won't.

I just threw this together quickly, didn't bother compacting it at all. I'm sure there's some better way to do it, but this works so meh.

posted a message on Me and my friend's redstone mission: A COMPUTER!
You can say you wanna build a redstone computer without having any prior knowledge of redstone. But I can also say I wanna have a million dollars, without having any money before that. I'd have to win the lottery, and you'd have to miraculously place each block randomly in the proper spot. :)

If you wanna learn how to make a redstone computer, start smaller. Make a few more basic redstone things. A 2x2 door, a 3x3 door and a 4x4 door. Start hiding redstone, and then get into more in depth redstone. All the bugs, and all that. Start learning about the parts you'll need in a redstone computer, and build them all seperately and then go ahead and put them together.

But don't start with a redstone computer, you'll never do it unless you've got a tonne of dedication to the project.

posted a message on Dispenser behavior
Yep, dispensers have got some funky behavior. There's a lot more than just this though. They're pretty difficult to work with in survival in compact spaces, though sometimes these can be a bit of a problem. I can't see why this specific behavior would be happening though. Updating the dispenser after placing the block there doesn't do it.

Good job, wouldn't have thought of that myself. I'd like to see something like this applied in adventure maps, tbh.

this is actually a really interesting design. The iron bars could be replaced with glass panes too, for anybody who'd prefer them.

    Quote from Gnolfolk

I have a idea for the EATS road, why not make it toggleble so that the EATS road can go both ways ( when I mean both ways I mean going forwards and backwards or mabye left and right) by manipulating water flow with dispensers or pistons

Because that would be absurdly large. Each water source block would need to be placed with a dispenser. While simple to wire, it's incredibly large.

Not really, it's just him saying redstone doesn't look pretty, so I'm not going to use it and i don't want to learn anymore.

I see it as him asking us to prove him otherwise. Show him that redstone can be pretty. Show him the amazing creations that can be built, and the contraptions that can be used.

You can make a signature, so you don't have to always add "this is icefox and good day". Also, it would make it more... symmetrical, is the best word I can think of. So that they all say the same thing, rather than saying "this is icefox302" in one post, and "this is icefox" in another.

    As for the EATS road:

Dispensers can place boats. As for other stuff, idk what other stuff is so I can't help you.

I would love some example of that. It seems anything that is more complex than a set of rails or a wire linking to TNT (because hey, explosions are pretty :P ) requires extensive circuitry. And hiding all of that always ends up taking some much space it ruins the initial concept. I know I can't make a castle gate that looks the way I want, I know that, but if there's something cooliing looking that works on redstone you guys want to share, go ahead and make this thread more positive :D

Block swappers can be really really nice. Pop a crafting table up. I can't give you an example of something that looks pretty, but rather than trying to find something pretty, work on finding out how to hide all of your redstone nicely. :)

Play through a vechs' map. There is a LOT of redstone in those, and they're pretty damn pretty. :)
